  • One time there was this guy at the gym doing something stupid. I didn't care because I was busy working out. The end.
  • Do a search on the forums. This has been debated. They are low-impact and you can do a great job of getting your HR up. It's a closed system...you can over work some muscles. Mix it in as part of your workouts.....anything that can get you a sustained, elevated HR will help.
  • No standard here. I weight 300 lbs...and am probably 10 lbs away from my ideal weight. I'd burn a lot more calories doing five minutes of jumping jacks that someone smaller than me....also effort factors in. Your best bet is to get a HRM.
  • I use this same think with my android phone (SIII) and it links up directly to MFP and adds my workouts. It's much more accurate and I use it with an app called iCardio. This IS the way to go completely.
  • There really is no silver bullet....you just have to make it a priority. Some days when I get off work I'm really excited to get to the gym...other days I hate it. I count it a bigger victory when I go on days that I don't particularly want to go. Build it into your schedule. For me I found that if I go straight to the gym…
  • It depends...some eggs get involved in extracurricular actives after school and really push themselves to excel. Other eggs drop out and hang out on street corners in seedy parts of town.
  • What is 3FC?
  • I like this one.... http://www.amazon.com/Seas-Cod-Liver-Oil-Liquid/product-reviews/B000GG6DEU/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 the less gimmicks the better. I believe everyone should take this supplement, if nothing else.
  • I use a heart rate monitor (2 different ones for different purposes) and I can burn a lot more calories on the elliptical while it's also low impact. Whatever does it for you...but I will say that while I own an elliptical I use a gym a few times a week and MOST people keep the resistance far too low to be very beneficial.
  • This is normal, just keep at it. Look at yourself in the mirror and remember that you are way ahead of LOTS of other people already, with the progress you've made. You are worth it and if it was easy everyone would do it. :)
  • I meet with a personal trainer once a week and she helps me and my wife to outline out fitness goals and routines for the week. I like it because it keeps me constantly changing up my routines and doing things that I probably wouldn't have otherwise. She's not much for advice on nutrition, but I've gotten my head around…
  • I think the other guy is about right. People will vary slightly, but 2lbs a week is about the max you wanna' shoot for if you do it the right way. The good news is that if you keep stock of what you eat and workout, you will lose weight. Good luck on your journey and remember to think in terms of lifestyle and the big…
  • I liked the photos. It's cool that you took the time to go out and deliberately take them. Last night I dreamed that I saw something beautiful to take a picture of, but had no memory card in my camera!! Also, how do you post photos on the forums?
  • FT4 or FT7...either one. The former is a little cheaper and still does a good job of estimating calories burned. The latter has a few more bells/whistles etc. Check out both and compare. I use the FT4....way more accurate calorie burns than the Timex I had.
  • Snacks are a good way to lose weight. Plan ahead. If you have a snack in between meals you're not going to be starving by lunch. Generally speaking though you're going to need diet AND exercise to make this happen. Start out small....if you can go the gym every day for 20 min...after a few weeks it will be a snap to bump…

  • I travel back and fourth in time assassinating people and then replacing them with carefully constructed copies of the originals. My only objective really is to see a season 2 two of the Firefly television series and stop Guns and Roses from making Chinese Democracy.
  • FT4...hate to sound like a broken record.
  • One day I will get another dog. I will name him Peeve. Then I will have a pet Peeve. I will come back to this thread and tell you all about it. Stand by.
  • "If there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went" - Will Rogers
  • Audio books by the the Dalai Lama and a few astro physicists.....white noise for long flights....Quantic...Beethoven...Hatebreed...Bury Your Dead....some of everything. Sometimes I want to be centered and reflect....learn something new.....sometimes I am trying to push my limits physically.
  • Your only real option here is to kidnap her. This is going to complicate your life and there will likely be legal fees involved....big ones, but why not?
  • I'm in an open relationship with four other people....they just don't know it...
  • Very interesting point you make, Joe. I've started reading a lot about various life philosophys and I believe that a person needs to be centered foremost and then decide to be the best version of themselves they can be...strictly for their own sake and not in comparison to others.
  • Did an elliptical workout this morning. My Polar HRM indicated I burned 861 calories. The elliptical machine indicated that I burned well over 1500 calories. To be fair the elliptical machine thought I was a member of AARP....lol. :)
  • If not for the elliptical trainer I don't know that the unfit and elderly would have any hope of survival...lol. :) This goes to show that there are a lot of people espousing random advice that don't really know what they're talking about. I believe this firmly falls into the realm of broscience.
  • "Elliptical is a great start for poeple who are unfit or elderly..." I believe that was your quote. So unfit people and my grandmother can benefit from this, but for more advanced and fit users...well, they shouldn't waste their time. :) I haven't decided if you're just thriving off the attention or you really believe what…
  • This literally did make me laugh out loud. Zero muscles.... :)
