  • Yep. More painful does not equate to 'better'. If I get on the elliptical, ramp up the resistance and get my heartrate up to 80% of my max for 45 min I still get a good workout according to my HRM. I still work in some running as any gym machine is a 'closed system' and that's not something you want to rely on completely…
  • I'll throw the EOS-1D X and a couple of fast primes against anything you'd like. :) Sorry couldn't resist. At this level it's more about preference. I believe that Nikon has superior strobe/flashes...but that Canon is far better at available light. toMAtoe...tomoTOE... :)
  • Digital is in some ways more difficult. Shooting in raw gives you more latitude when developing, though. I had a photography business for a while..about half of which was sports...and it was miraculous to me the kind of "bad shots" people would buy because it was of their kid, etc. Here's the thing....people who don't know…
  • I love the alien skin exposure plug in...simulates film very impressively. The dynamic range of film is broader, but I am fairly sure I can get equally as satisfying and rich results for anything in the 11x14 range with digital...but as you say....we could battle this all day long. One thing I will say is that I think with…
  • Also, the fact that you're on MFP is huge. Working out is very important...ALMOST as important as what you eat.
  • ^^This. Protein Powder (ON is probably the best their is) and fish oil. Google the benefits of fish oil...astonishingly good for you. If you want to get an excellent grade product for less money on that front look up '7 Seas Fish Oil' on Amazon. It's cheaper than GNC and just as good or better quality. The ON is gonna'…
  • Agreed. Photoshop is needed for the heavy lifting/fine tuning, but I'm astounded at how capable LR is at times. You still shoot?
  • Yea, I use both...and Photoshop is more robust..BUT..Lightroom will do about ninety percent of what you need done (maybe more). It's made for photographers in mind. Plus...if you're taking 30-300 photo...it's designed with 'workflow' in mind. Who wants to individually process 100 photos one a time?
  • If you're thinking about going to photoshop...consider going to adobe photoshop lightroom (it's complete and proper name) instead. it can do MOST of what you want to do. i'm telling you...if you get good at lightroom you'll take your photography WAAAAY to the next level. //edit...it's also a LOT cheaper. now if you can…
  • Pick up a DSRL with underwater kit. I'm telling you...once you cross the line to DSLRland you'll never come back. It's awesome. Also, if you buy a used body/UW kit it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Out of curiosity where do you live and how'd you end up there?
  • I'm going to start looking into video this year. You're right regarding audio pickup..but I think that would just require you to have to pair the camera with some mics, etc. I'm excited to jump into this arena. The quality of the video this thing can produce at this price point is just absurd. :)
  • I got my first taste of fast primes a few years ago....yea, that was unfortunate...lol. I've got quite a few L lenses and have just recently starting 'shooting like a grown up' in raw and learned to love Lightroom. :) I came very close to going into photojournalism and touched base with people like James Nachtway,…
  • Checking out the sight now. Let me recommend. www.fredmiranda.com...look at their forums...specifically the 'buy and sale' forum. I haven't bought a new lens or body in over six years. This is a reliable place to buy good used gear...don't buy new...not worth it. I just bought the 5D ii....right after the 5D iii was…
  • Get a pair of these (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CXBJ6A/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00) they're worth it...but set your ipod's max volume to about 1/3 it's normal max. They are high isolation. You can be talking to me standing right in front of me and rather I'm listening to a cello solo or Hatebreed...I will not hear…
  • This has been the most entertaining thread I've run across in a while.

  • If you Google: "I am heading to the gym in 26 minutes!" and don't laugh out loud I'll refund the price of admission. This thread made me think of it. Seriously...just do it.

  • The purpose is to create a sense of exclusivity and put people into two groups; hot and not hot so that you can then take some solace in the fact that you are in the former and not the latter. If the first four or five posts of this thread don't tip you off as to the kind of people you're dealing with you may need to…

  • This thread is very "Jersey Shore'.
  • I use the shakeweight for one hour each day. I haven't lost any weight in my midsection, but my arms look terrific.
  • //irony. LOL. Special club is...special. :)
  • I'm not in this world to live up to your expectations and you're not in this world to live up to mine. Bruce Lee
  • No joke...this is the funniest thing I've read all day. :)
  • Wow. This is exactly the kind of thing I imagine happening. :/ Not good. I think this is going to one of those times I just order the bench and she'll have to deal with it. I'm not typically quick to disregard her opinion, but when it comes to something that might potentially injury me....sometimes you just have to make…
  • I hope one day to be as classy and intelligent as you. I can dream, right? Perhaps I was speaking with an accent. ;)
  • Couple of problems with this, chiefly that after my dog spent several years working with an Aborigine tribe he adopted the belief that taking a photo of someone would steal their soul. Personally, I think it's ridiculous, but far be it from me to disrespect his belief system. I'm trying to reason with him, but he's pretty…
  • I'm the one on the right.
  • This is not a joke. My dog rides his bike to and from the park twice a day....he hasn't been doing it very long and it was not easy to convince him to overcome his own perceived limitations, but I think by July we'll be able to take to training wheels off and he'll be good to go. He still doesn't wear his helmet…
  • My dog still uses training wheels.
  • Optimum Nutrition Natural Whey is maybe the best out there....followed closely by their Gold Standard. The latter comes in a lot more flavors, but that means more artificial stuff. This stuff is manufactured inside the US and is of much higher quality. Get it online...cheaper, but it's not the cheapest out there.
