- Reduce 3 white poisons Salt/Sugar/Flour Moderate...don't diet.

I think I like the sound of this...just noting milestones and goals met rather than all the mundane stuff.

Below is a quote from an exchange that I had with a friend last week regarding this matter. He's a bio chemist that works for a supplement company and LOVES lifting weights. I don't know how the idea that you can use up all your muscle on the treademill has gained so much traction. " The cannibalizing muscle thing is a…

Strictly speaking then you may be right. I don't really claim to understand it though. I can burn far more calories doing an hour of cardio than I can doing an hour of ST. Wouldn't that greater calorie expenditure equate to more weight loss?
-
Wow.
-
Both. I don't understand why this is complicated at all. That said there are more longevity benefits to cardio....to each their own.
-
Do elliptical for 45 min a day..... Lifting weights alongside a good solid cardio routine and eating right....you have to have all the pieces in place.

^^This. There was one person (female) complaining about how guys would message her....and her profile pic is of her boobs. Some people are just not going to be working on quantum mechanics on the weekend.
-
Bingo. Both are valuable, but I personally believe cardio fitness is of greater importance.
-
That is totally awesome!!. Way to go. Most successes are a process and you are on your way!! :)

I obviously have a preference and favor cardio. There's value in both, but I do not think six sets on the bench offer more benefit than a sustained 60min of cardio at 80% of max HR. I find it interesting that your 'relationship with God' is one of your biggest inspirations. His benevolence shines through you like a beam of…

A strong cardiovascular system will go a lot further to increase your longevity and quality of life than a six pack. Cardio goes a long way to prevent a lot of diseases and the benefits are amazing. Let's face it...lifting weights is easier than doing an hour of intense cardio. :) Cardio should always be your first…

I clicked on this thread because I thought you were asking what the best SHORTS for lifting were. I was like...wth.

LOL. :)

Thank you for your mature, well-thought-out rebuttal. Being smug and dismissive is something people do when they're convinced of their own superiority on a particular issue...but they just can't convince anybody else. Well played. :) If your dog possessed the cognitive abilities of a person, then leaving on the BBC or…

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2008246/posts Here's a list of some of the smarter and not so smarter dog breeds. In general the smarter the dog the more stimulation they need mentally and the less intelligent ones typically don't need as much. It kinda' makes sense.
-
Mental stimulation from the radio....what's his favorite station? If you think a piece of plastic and some illegible noise is adequate social stimulation, for the sake of soothing your conscience, go for it. Depending on the breed of the dog let me recommend either blues or trip hop.
-
I'm talking about the way dogs are wired socially and require stimulation. In the 8 hours you are alone you're on facebook, MFP..watch tv...read a book...work out....you stimulate yourself and entertain yourself. Let me lock you in a closet every day for a week by yourself and I'll bet your perspective will be slightly…
-
You are absolutely correct about this. Some people are just ignorant and don't realize that keeping a PACK ANIMAL in solitude for 8 hours a day is cruel. If you can't get a dog walker or doggie day camp then get your dog a companion. I love all the "i leave my dog alone and he's fine" chatter. Do you expect your dog to…

I have to wonder what would motivate you to ask this question? Give me a list of qualities that ALL......tennis players.....vegans.......basketball players.......bankers......engineers.......etc. share. Go ahead. This is like asking if I think all left handed people prefer Coke over Pepsi......I guess I just can't…

Consider getting two dogs....of the smaller variety. We have miniature Australian Sheppards and they are very interactive with us, but also they entertain each other WAY more than we could. The constantly have what we affectionately call 'dog wars' where they chew on each other and play. :) It's one of my favorite things.…

Another approach you might have, that is admittedly a little more Buddhist in nature, is simply to embrace the temporal nature of life...the ebb and flow of it. Perhaps you and I will become good friends sometime next year, due to circumstances, but we will not always be close. You can never step into the same river twice…

As others have said...go with the lowest number. Then you WILL succeed and you WILL see weight loss. What's more important to you, results or being able to put up bigger numbers? Like somebody else said now that I use a HRM I try to keep my intensity (number) at between 145-150 for an hour. The HRM and the machine both say…

My experience was different. Bought a pair of ER6s in 2005...and they just broke about a month ago. Moved up to this last pair and they're just extraordinary. There's a difference between isolation and high isolation and this is definitely the latter. I can listen to my music at very low (and safe) volumes and not have to…

I use etymotic er-4p headphones....they aren't for everyone. they're a little high end and they're not a bunch of marketing hype. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007WZLDC/ref=wms_ohs_product

Optimum Nutrition Natural is one of the best you can get...followed closely by the Gold Standard, which has lots more flavors. They manufacture in the US and it's a lot more stringent guidelines they have to follow.

Yea...initially I thought 300lbs, but I'm not sure now. The problem is I am not normal size. People meet me all the time and I wish I had a nickle for everyone that says, "Your hands are huge". I routinely outweigh people my same height by about 100lbs....I'm not really overweight.....I'm just a big big guy. I'm not sure…

I used to love Lifehacker until they completely destroyed their webpage layout. :(

Life is short and I like to enjoy it. Once a week I have a meal that I eat whatever I want. Then the rest of the week I am not tempted to fall off the wagon. If I were training for the Olympics I might look at it differently...but I'm training for LIFE and I make FUN a priority alongside my physical fitness goals. To each…

Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein....the 20 min window thing is rubbish...but within a few hours is advisable. Taken with water is a much faster uptake than with milk.
