  • With the help of MFP I've learned where my vitamin and mineral issues are. I've also introduced Iron and Magnessium. I was getting below 10% of the DRA for both so I started taking extras. As for the power I guess there is no harm in just adding a scope to my morning whey shake along with my peanut butter and banana.
  • So I entered today's coffee into MFP. WOW. So I found another reason to drink coffee potassium! I have to do some more research but I've been struggling to get potassium into my diet and 465 mg just in my coffee sounds great. Then again the creamer I used was 240 calories of crap so black coffee it is.
  • I found that as soon as I make an excuse not to work out or take a few days off my motivation suffers and I quickly start sliding more. So even if I'm sick I'll still go to the gym and do something to keep the motivation and routine going. However I agree lots of fluids are important to move the bad stuff out. I was eating…
  • If you like the brand you are using I would just find ways to spice it up so it tastes better. Vanilla extract or some people put coconut milk, pineapple juice, etc. I don't like the taste of mine and I found if I put less water in it than recommended I like the taste better.
  • I love minty flavors, hate Earl Grey. I also like berry teas. I brought a little tea pot (now I can't get that song out of my head) to work and by fresh leaf tea or flowering tea bulbs to work. I can make 3-4 cups of tea and drink it at work. Fresh teas allow you to get good flavor combinations. Bags are good for a quick…
  • At one point I was drinking up to 3 Vente Peppermint White Mochas a day with 6 extra shots. At 1,000 calories each, I don't question why I gained weight during that time. Instead of 6 drink 5 for the next 2 weeks, then 4 then 3, etc. Or start limiting the amount of sugar and creamers you put in or find better alternatives…
  • I agree carb intake versus sugar is more important. Quality of the carbs is important as well, same as fat. You need fat for other bodily processes, the better quality the better you support those other processes. Coffee is an appetite stimulant too so be careful, it can make you "crave" other things. I switched to…
  • Welcome back. I too struggle with using MFP on a regular basis, I don't pressure myself to log every little detail. I will log new meals just to see what nutritional and calorie value they offer so I can plan better but my goal is not to loose weight as much as become healthy. I found that posting and reading the community…
  • My journey started more with not working out and not making significant changes. It was about educatiion, I like learning how the body works and reacts to different things. You try to upheave your existing routine and do an about face in a short period of time, nearly everyone fails. Start simple. Educate yourself on what…
  • Welcome to MFP, may your journey get you to your goals and may you become educated on healthy living along the way to help the next person in need.
  • My man code, says log the drinks in front of them and don't care what they think. MFP to me is about tracking what I do eat so I know how to best use the energy or calories I do have and how much energy I have to expend on doing things I like. I don't worry about what others think about it because it only matters to me.…

  • Welcome to MFP Dominic. By nutrition do you mean healthy eating aka. clean eating, portion control, balance of vitamins and minerals, etc or is there one specific area of nutrition that motivates you.
  • Your picture is from the holidays (deer and santa hat)
  • I eat 4-6 times a day. I eat around 2,200 calories. My RMR is 2,053 and I typically burn 1,000 calories in excercise 5-6 days a week. I tried getting 3,500 calories in but can't eat that much. 1. Breakfast 6-8 am - Whey shake with peanut butter and banana 2. Morning Snack 10 am - apple or some other fruit, small babybel…
  • Welcome back. Keep your goals in sight and stay positive. A photo of my kids around me always adds that little extra. Well on days when they are not being difficult.
  • I watched most of it, however I watched it while at the gym so I couldn't hear it and wasn't close enough to see the words. Watching it without hearing gave me the same impression, lots of drama. It is the first time I've watched the show in a few years, it was better than watching the political bs!
  • Anyone feel free to correct me but I'm trying to loose weight (more reduce my overall fat %) while building muscle, strength and endurance. In order to build muscle you need protein (and carbs), estimated at 1 gram per body weight which will help your muscles build and grow. So back to the orignal question will proteint…
