  • when should i weigh myself? -- I do once every 5 weeks, I would recommend not doing it more than once a week. should i eat the calories i burned off back? -- there is great debate about this. I did and I gained weight. I think you have to find what works best for you. what happens if you go over your daily intake? -- again…
  • I do peppermint tea to get my mint fix.
  • I love the internal feeling of having no holes left on my belt. I hate having to buy a new belt or punch more holes, it is too much work, but good work.
  • As you've learned, this is not an exact science. Your body may have needed the energy and metabolised it differently than if you did this in the afternoon or morning.
  • I agree, well not on dress size but pants size. I squeezed myself into a pair of 36's last week, first time since .... yeah early HS. That is what counts. Well being able to bend over in the pants might help too but I got into them!
  • If you are working out another great app is the www.Jefit.com allows you to track your training progress. I track my measurements, pictures and strength goals there and food stuff here.
  • Just be careful that what you see on MFP may not be correct. If you look at diaries and just something as simple as an egg and some are listed at 70 calories some 135 per egg. I verify all numbers first then, just use the same thing. When my girlfriend switches brands of stuff it drives me nuts because then I have to…
  • I remember the days I'd sit and eat the whole box. Or a whole French Silk pie from Baker's Square, then I found out it was like 1,500 calories and 80 grams of fat per slice. Now, I don't eat the whole pie.
  • One lesson I didn't learn ... 8(
  • I've stopped all medications. I test once a week or if I feel bad and I'm usually within a normal range. I stopped blacking out at the gym from low blood sugar, I think it takes time for things to balance out. I did the low carb thing for a few weeks, during which time I changed my exercise routine as well as suffered a…
  • Between 9-18 months ago I rarely saw a number under 200. I averaged 235 and my spikes were 300-400 on a regular basis. BTW that was on metformin 500x1. It wasn't until I started a metformin + glybruride combonation that things started to change. Obviously because the drugs do different things one controls sugar in the…
  • Oh boy. Been there done that and one of many things that led to my separation and hopefully divorice. Lucky for me I lived with a step father that struggled with diabetes most of his life so when I was diagnosed I had some understanding. Both my father and step father died the same year (age 55). My father was heart attack…
  • Of course this is a guys perception but my journey started with filing for divorce several years ago when i was between 280-305 lbs. Not having much to do I hit the gym, ate healthy and got out and enjoyed life. My one take away from the experience over the last several years that I wish I could bottle up and give away was…
  • I have an excel sheet I put together and I enter the numbers for morning, lunch and dinner. This was I can see the averages and more importantly the time of the day. The glucose meters show a 7 or 14 day average typically and that really didn't give me the information I wanted. I wanted to see my wakeup numbers versus…
  • Welcome to all the new peoples!
  • We have those frequently. Other than that I prefer to drink my meals through a straw. Whey protein shakes for me all day long I'd be happy. Low carb no spikes!
  • I'm not sure what you are asking. If you have a HRM it should calculate your burn but it depends on if you properly programed it or not. I went to a gym and they tested me and input my starting information. So I believe my HRM to be accurate. I also then calculated my resting metabolism to see what my body needs every day.…

  • Depending on how you travel, bring food with you or pack a bag with the right kitchen products (if you drive). I was recently told I might need to travel and I'm worried amount maintaining my eating and workout routine. More protein and less carbs helps me balance my hunger until I can get to a place to have healthy…
  • Sent request. While we are all in this together its really an individual journey but it comes with lots of support and cheering.
  • After reading this I'm hungry! Except for twice that I can remember I've avoided eating out the last few months. Feels great, but then I pass some french fries and I cave.
  • Congratulations and keep it up. While I really don't care about scale weight much, I would like to hit under 200 just once. That would put me back almost to middle school weight! Just a few more crunches and a few less slices of pies and I'll be there. Of course if I go by my BMI my goal should be 145, that's not happening.
  • My goal is 350 g (goal not achievement) Whey Shakes+Tuna+Meat(just about any)+yogurt. There was some actor on Conan the other night that said he gained 17 lbs of lean muscle mass for a role but blending chicken breasts and drinking them. I have not tried that extreme yet but wonder how it would taste.
  • Is there something in the water in PA or is there really good support groups that point eveyrone here, LOL?
  • Illinois two boys 4 and 7.
  • Try running your hands in warm water or rubbing your hands together to get the blood flowing. Lately with my exercise I've noticed that my feet and hands are always freezing. I never liked testing areas other than fingers because it can change your readings. I use a FreeStyle Lite currently.
  • It is always important to monitor even closer as you start a new exercise program. Without meds I averaged 240's, with meds I averaged 120's, then I started to exercise and averaged 70's and found myself dizzy and blacking out during workouts. I stopped the meds and 3 weeks later I'm back to averages of 110's with exercise…
  • I agree. Going through a nutritionist I was always frustrated by glycemic index and what a food SHOULD do to me. The fact is the index is the same everyone's metabolism is different. Each of us process protein, carbs and fats differently. I wish there was away to test every hour on the hour. If i record exactly what I put…
  • Great! How much more does that motivate you so you can stop taking the rest of the dosage?
  • It gets easier, not just because. I believe there is a reason things get easier: a) As you learn more about this you learn to manage it better. You learn about nutrition b) You learn about how things effect your body. What a food does to me, doesn't necessarily mean that is what it will do for you. c) Motivation waivers…
  • Yeah. Didn't until tonight. I took some new energy mix that I had never tried before. It was just a sample but got my heart rate and everything going tonight. I went through my routine tonight and set some new personal records but then after workout my heart was racing and the lights got dim. I don't think it was BS…
