Going for a PR distance run tomorrow morning, will be back to post :)

My thought s would be doubtful that you lost 9 lbs of fat. If it is the first week of low calorie the majority of it is reduced volume in the intestinal track and fluctuations in hydration. Its your choice to pick your calorie intake, but making changes on a week by week basis is going to make it nearly impossible to…

My bet is most answers will be about finding what works best for the individual. You can find "data" to support eating and not eating before workout but it all seems to be slanted by what your workout/fitness goals are. If you can go to the gym and kill a workout on empty, then that has to be better than trying to fit in a…

The Polar FT80 has that option. It comes with a flowlink that hooks to a USB port. Set the watch on the link and it will upload detailed graphs to the polar personal trainer website. No other watch in the FT polar line has the graph options. I think the RCX models might, but have not had hands on with them. That being…

This past weekend my wife and I went to watch a natural bodybuilding/fitness show. We had never been to one before, just thought it would be interesting. In the men's division they had a "physique" class, the contestants wore "board shorts" knee length swim wear. As soon as they came out the first thing my wife asked was…

My old F55 had the o-ring gasket that needed replaced and was way tricky to keep in place during a battery change. A big selling point of the FT series was user change batteries. My family has a FT80, FT60, and FT4, none of which have the replaceable gasket of the old F series.

No help for your cover removal, but you are not alone with the poor service coming from Polar. I recently changed my FT80 battery and the watched never worked correct after. Sent it in (was new in Jan 2012) and they claimed "damage" and not under warranty. They were very rude on the phone and took weeks to respond to…

We used flax and liked it, but have switched to chia seed. The flax had to be refrigerated and did not mix as well. Also felt the overall benefits were better with chia. Either way it is a great way to add a little of natures good stuff to a healthy lifestyle.

Favorite: a full one :-) Least Favorite: an empty one :-(

Many rock gyms have auto belay systems so you can climb alone. I would think all would have a intro class that is required for first time users. They would go over fitting the harness, tie in knots, carabiner use, and belay ops.

"How can I possibly fit in exercise?"..........because it IS WORTH IT!!! Reach your goals, have more energy, improve your overall health. You have to want it.........and when you do it is easy to find the time. Don't want it, and the excuses are endless.........

I have mixed in bumbbell step-ups in place of lunges. Use a plyo box that is tall enough that the upper leg is parallel when stepping up. Hold a dumbbell in each hand to add resistance. Barbell squats and deadlifts are going to be core lifts that would also work in place of lunges.

I recently had some issues with my Polar FT80 and sent it in for service. The chest strap was about 8 months old. After they inspect everything they were very animate that the chest strap was worn out???? so I purchased a replacement which was Polar's new design.....I think they call it the soft strap. This new strap looks…

I have found that as I have got in better shape I see the same general cal burn for a given distance. If the pace is slower, it takes longer, the burn rate is less but over a longer time and ends up the same. If I go out and really push, the burn rate is higher, but I reach the distance and finish in a shorter time.

If you enjoy Cardio, do what works for you....I would not purposefully do less. But if you have time restraints and have to pick, you might prioritize lifting for a while. Muscle recovery needs good blood flow, so having a healthy heart and cardiovascular system is very important. Even with a solid workout plan nutrition…

The treadmill can still be a great tool, even if your not running on it. INCLINE is a much bigger factor than speed. Use a comfortable walking speed, or even a slow walking speed, and then raise the incline. Don't hold onto the rails or anything, lean forward to walk up that hill. I always wear a HR monitor, my HR will…

I was first put on BP meds at age 17. Went to a ton of doctors about hypertension in youth, with no results. At that age I was very involved in high school athletics, like football and wrestling. I took the meds evey day until earlier this year, current age 42. With my weight loss and greatly improved level of fitness I…

When I did my research into the 5x5 programs I had others give me advice that made me realise that there are several different 5x5 programs and copies there of. The STRONGLIFTS version (as mentioned in this thread), if you read his information and get his emails, is not what a beginer needs, male or female. This Mehdi guy…

Glad it worked for you. Keep it up.

I agree with the book "new rules of weight lifting for women", it is on my night stand right now and I'm a guy. I used many of the new rules techniques in my own workouts and my wife has had solid results from that approach . Not sure the stronglifts 5x5 "program" is the way to go for a woman to start out, this is just my…

You will probably find accuracy to be varried from one brand or machine to another. If you use the same machine or machines on a regular basis then with a little effort you can figure them out. I find for me the machines and MFP always show more cals burnt than does my Polar FT 80 heart rate monitor. But you can go with…

I use a Polar FT80 and my wife a FT60. Both of these offer the "Ownzone" and "STAR" features, and you can upload the workout data to the Polarpersonaltrainer website. Depending on what you want from your HRM these are features I feel were very much worth the extra price. The "STAR" feature is a goal based program generated…

If I am going to the gym right away after waking I do shower. Has nothing to do with being clean or not, would have not gotten into bed if I was a mess. The hot water of the shower helps me to losen up and I do quite a bit of stretching in the shower. On heavy back or leg days I feel not as tight and more comfortable…

Get mine waxed every 3 months or so. Wife had said nothing about it, just something I wanted done. So when the bald guy walks into the beauty salon and goes to the back room with one of the hair dressers.........well you get some odd looks.
