I am proud of the honesty SharonMac is showing in her diary. Her dad is my husband's brother. She is eating the way she was taught by her parents. Over my long marriage to her uncle, I have brought him to the "veg side". Hubby didn't even have brocolli until he married me for example. The only three vegatables served in…

Why not? To me this is like facebook. I like to check in everyday to see how my pals are doing. Get some encouragement, give some encouragement.

Knowing you since you were three years old, I know what you are up against. You've got to make meals for four of you. You can't be making that many separate meals for you as opposed to the kids and the hubby. I am pretty sure that no one taught you how to cook and how to balance the fruit, veg, fiber, protein, and dairy to…

Perfect day for a baked potato!

Nice! Very nice indeed!

You look sleeker. Maybe people think you are wearing foundation garments ~the after picture looks like you are wearing "Spanx" or some other body shaper. Keep up the good work.

And when you are shopping, especially in the bread department, read lables. You'd be amazed at how widely the fiber count is different in each type of bread. Stuff that looks like it would have tons has little and others that are "white" have an okay amount of fiber in them.

Hi Honey, Uncle SharonMac (aka Mr LainMac) has oatmeal everyday with sugar (real) and egg white protein powder. He calls it the "donut for the middle age man". Here are two of my better fiber friendly breakfasts, you can look them up for the full details. Tuesday August 17, 2010 Coffee - Brewed from grounds, 2 cup (8 fl…

I log everything to the best of my ability even when I go over alot.

I peeked at your diary. Here is my one word advice. Vegtables. Dice them fine and put them in the indian dishes that you list. Cook them up a tad unti they are the texture you like. More advice. Track fiber. I personally feel better and do better on 25 or more grams a day. You can add more lentils or dal to your indian…

Buy a cubic zokonia diamond ring the right size (or a tiny bit small) and use it as a guard on the real band. Or buy a costume ring and turn it so only the gold part shows. I don't think people notice but hubby says they do.

Ah, Azdak, you assume that we are just cooking for ourselves. Some of us are cooking for our families. I've got 4 kids and one husband. Three of the kids are extremely active meaning they have no calorie limit ~~~I just try to make sure they get some of everything (carbo, veg, dairy, and protein). One is a growing teen…

My experiments with two ozs dry have resulted in 1 cup cooked. Spaghetti, angel hair, elbows, and the bow tie stuff.

Yes, I have noticed that people are Okay with the "naturally thin" but not the "work at it thin". I've never been thin but hubby is in shape by eating right and working out often. So he is in good shape, actually great shape for a guy almost 50. His mother (a natural thin person because she really doesn't eat at all) said…

Hi Miss M, I know the boat you in totally. (I think we are rowing it together) I've lost 13, and 13 pounds doesn't put you in a new wardobe, just make the wardore you have fit better or be a little loose. I'm proud of you! There have been posts about how hard it is to see the physical differences in yourself. I think that…

I don't do much in the way of exercise (yet anyway). I'm still working on portion control. And I am pretty honest about what I eat even when it is "bad." I do seem to have a longer list of foods than many diaries that I have seen. On my good days, I'm eating a lot of whole foods that I've cooked myelf. I usually get 25…

Instead of a meal, order an appetizer or a salad with grilled meat (dressing to the side). Have one drink and then order water or diet soda for the rest. For example, have a vodka and diet coke and then switch to a diet coke.

Good on you Corena and Hkystar~! Yay us! I had hubby jump on the scale. He told me his number. I said "Oh, so I have to lose about 20 to be "less" than you." Hubby replies "No, no, you're wrong. We are actually like only 17 pounds apart." Several minutes later, hubby says "Oh well, I do want to be two or three pounds less…

OMG 202.8 Haven't weight that little for well over 16 years. A bit freaky really. Wow, I just might make my goal of being well under 200 fully clothed after a meal but the end of October. I think I'll ask hubby to jump on the scale so I can see what the current difference is.

Sounds yummy!

Can I say I told you so? MFP is a great place to lose weight sensibly and find people to support you. Love seeing you and the kids!
-
Yup, when things are really bad, I have no appetite either.

I agree with a previous poster. You need new clothes. WTG, skinny guy!

Trader Joe 100 calorie dark chocolate bars.

I saw 204 on the scale this morning. But I have wild swings in weight, so I'm going to wait to see if that is truely my new weight.

Are you eating most of your alloted calories? I peeked at your food diary for the last week and it was either empty or shows like 400 calories eaten. If you eat very little then your body, especially being a female body, will go into stavation mode and hold onto every little calorie. (That is how concentration camp victims…

I went on youtube and there are some "how to" videos on how to make your own hummus. I did the one that made sense to me. It came out pretty good but not BETTER than the store bought.

As long as the kid's last name is not something that would ryhme unfortunately like "Leilani Bobani" why not? I am betting the father would like for his daughter some very boring dowdy name like Eunice or Gertrude because Leilani is a very pretty name that lends itself to equally pretty nicknames like "Leila", "Lee", or…

No, I would not count the coffee in your water count because of the diuretic effects. I don't personally and I have two cups of coffee a day.

This is a really great thread. I am at a weight were the ten pounds lost doesn't show but I am determined for this to be a lifelong lifestyle change. I appreciate the heads up about the weird reactions folks are having to your sensible "boring" weight loss. The magic pills comments crack me up. I hope sometime next spring…
