I would agree with the - I can't eat all the Christmas snacks in the office. But otherwise, I'm in wah-bulence funk about being GF. Have a open house to go to tomorrow where you are suppose to bring something to eat. But don't have time to make anything good and GF. So, I'll bring some wine, not drink any because I can't…

Of course drinking 2 mimosas at 9am does effect/affect one's abilty to actually spell miracle.

Yay you!

Pudding! I love pudding (chocolate anyway). Let me know how it works out.
-
I have made it twice. Same batch, split in half. Put 1/2 away. The second day's batch came out better. "Less yesty".

Here are some internet articles that made some sense to me: http://www.todaysdietitian.com/newarchives/072709p32.shtml http://www.diabetes.org/food-and-fitness/food/planning-meals/gluten-free-diets/gluten-free-meal-ideas.html

A consult with a nutritionist or dietician would be a great idea. I am fighting with my doctors to get one since I am a new Celiac. Celiac eating has some nutritional pitfall that one has to work hard to avoid. (prepared GF food tends to be glycemic, low in fiber, high in salt, and missing some of the nutrients that are…

I am new to this Celiacness. So I just skipped the gravy at Thanksgiving. It wasn't worth it just to make it for me. (my teen who is also a celiac isn't into meat or meat flavored items) I went on the internet and saw many different recipes that used GF cornstarch or GF floors like sweet rice.
-
I am fortunate enough to live in an area where there are Celiac support groups that meet monthly and have a formal organization that runs it. (They have a huge yearly regional conference and quarterly mini conferences) They hand out a leaflet about Thanksgiving eating where it very directly says "Don't eat the turkey if it…

Wow! Your sister is lucky that you will even speak with her again. Flour on the turkey? Even before I had to be GF, I wouldn't do that. (Butter or chicken broth, baby). That's a lot of very active passive aggressive. Yes, there will be accidently exposures to gluten, but we all work so hard to keep those down to a place…

Hi All, In May of this year, my 17 year old son had various tests to find out why he wasn't growing. As part of that he was found to have Celiac and that he had high DNA markers for the condition. Because of sonny's DNA markers, it was recommended that hubby and I get tested. And much to my mother in law's delight, I came…

Best Movie from Book Ever - The Princess Bride. I read the book before the movie and said to myself "They'll never be able to capture the books spirit." I was wrong.

Some folks have suggested that OP send her kids to school with food to eat later. In my kids' schools, that isn't a doable thing. There are preset times to snack and to lunch which may be too late in the day to prevent a snarky low blood sugar child. I agree with one of the other posters that I don't want to be the parent…

I'm generally not hungry when I first wake up so I understand how someone doesn't want to jump on breakfast as soon as they wake up. However, as a mother to 4 in school, kids don't always get a chance to eat at school when they want to/need to, so sending them loaded with good food in their belly is super important. Here…

I see an endocronologist that prescribes me both the standard T4 meds and a special cocktail of T3. The T3 meds didn't help with weight loss but helped greatly with brian function. The "About" site on Thyroidism has some good info if you can stand wading through the ads. Regular docs aren't very clueful about thryroidism.

Generally between 200 and 220 is a good guestimate.

The thuggy underwear look was explained to me as this - You're a thug. You go to prison. The food is horrible and you have nothing to do but work out all day. So you lose a lot of weight and inches off your waist. Prison isn't going to give you new pants and they certainly aren't going to give you a belt because it could…

{*Sniff* Wipes away a small happiness tear.} Good on you and great for YOUR kids! You're the leader of the pack!

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out the suggested websites. Trying to get the other people in the house to "get it" (four kids and a hubby) has been a little hard. My non celiac teen son asking me to make him a sandwich because he doesn't get that I shouldn't handle gluten foods. The hubby not getting cross…

This happened to my youngest at 8 when quite frankly he looks like a mini me fitness model.

*** Bump***** Because it was and still is a damn good post!

Mine is open to friends only. (Right now there is nothing to see becasue I've fallen off the logging wagon and am running to catch up with it.) I like to peek at my sucessful friends diaries to see how they are doing it. Get inspired. Also, it is interesting to see what is available in other parts of the country. Or in…

Started in the 220s. Join MFP around 217. Lost about 21 pounds after. Gained back some. Tottering at 200.00 on the nose. Getting back to logging. Didn't see a size change until 15 pounds - 2x to 1x. At my lowest, I tried on some 18s and they didn't fit. The most noticable place of the loss was in my face. My guess based on…

Not Jesus like at all but there is the old classic "Nanny nanny poo, poo. I am rubber and you are glue. Everything bounces off of me and sticks to you!"

How many people here got overweight (fat) from too many "naked" baby carrots? A show of hands, please? Personally, I'm overweight because all my ancestors were hard working farm people who lived on cabbage water that pig walked through and if I have any expectation of losing weight, I have to eat extremely healthy, whole…

Hi I agree totally with SHBoss1673 about the veggie eating. When I have had success, it has been when I've vegged up. And the processed stuff has so much hidden salt. I like to see my salt personally.

Hi, I would agree with the earlier posters on these things: BMI - Useless - One of my four kids is solid as granite and is naturallly "cut" from age 5 and his school nurse sent home a note saying that he might be obese. Yeah, right. The kid is nothing but muscle and bones which weighs a lot more than "fat-fat". Whole…

Hey you're back! Hooray! You were one of my first MFP pals. Good to see you!
-
Two things. Yes, I agree with feeding them less and more often with the under 5 crowd. Also, kids don't really need "kid food" (fries and chicken fingers), they need the same healthy food you do. (Biggest difference is that they need to have more healthy fats as part of their daily diet than you do- ie, their veggies are…

Hey MFP Hero, Yes, you are wearing the same clothes but you are wearing them very differently. Soon you will turn around and your clothes won't follow. Great Job! With Much Affection, Lain the current slacker!
