  • Agreed...when we have more to lose, not 100% necessary. I wouldn't want to try without mine at this point. No harm in getting a true grip on your consumption no matter where you are though.
  • At the risk of sounding like a moron, am I missing something here? It looks like your goal cals are set at 1800, but macros are 340g carbs, 91g fat, and 136g protein. That adds up to (340*4) + (91*9) + (136*4) = 2723. Am I crazy?
  • no but i just ordered a box!
  • I eat 1500 cals, look at my food diary. I do lots of crock pot cooking. shredded bbq pork loin, chicken salad made in crock pot, shredded beef, things like that are my staples.
  • You guys are making me jealous. I pay $140 a month after a pretty nice corporate discount. But then Equinox + NYC is a dangerous combination.
  • If you don't already lift weights, I highly suggest it! That's the only thing that's helped me love my body. Before I started lifting, if I lost 10 lbs, I just had a 10 lb smaller version of the exact same body. But definitely look at your "before" pics and try to point out the positive changes in your body. It's hard work…
  • I'm doing IF now so I don't eat breakfast, but I also used to do a slice of ezekiel toast spread with a wedge of laughing cow cheese, topped with microwaved egg whites. i would make it at home, then wrap in foil and eat about an hour after i got to work.
  • plain greek yogurt mixed with chopped fruit and/or nuts
  • Quest bars. So tasty, and a nice balance of macros.
  • I live with my fiance BUT am usually cooking just for me! But for efficiency's sake I make bigger meals and pre-portion them into tupperware for the week (and often freeze some for weeks I'm too busy to cook). My favorites are crock pot recipes because they require so little attention. Some regulars in my rotation are…
  • I tend to avoid it for the most part, although I do enjoy a bowl of protein "ice cream" pretty regularly as my nighttime snack. There are a million ways you can do it, but I throw some almond coconut milk (the drink, I buy the unsweetened - 45 cals and 3.5g fat per cup) frozen into ice cubes, a splash of it unfrozen (total…
  • On a similar note, next person who makes a comment about me being "lucky" because I'm skinny is getting punched in the face. Luck has nothing to do with it, and the vast majority of the people who make such comments have never worked so hard for something in their lives.
  • If you're still eating at a deficit you shouldn't gain any actual weight, and I definitely do recommend weighing your food (it's the only thing that's worked for me at lower body fat levels). However, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just water weight and/or a slow in loss. I definitely experienced what seemed like a…
  • I am only trying to help - but I think you must not be tracking correctly. Even if you are only eating a bagel, cereal, and I forgot what else you said, if it's a large bagel with cream cheese, a large bowl of cereal or 2, whatever else you eat, and soda....you are likely eating more than 1200 calories. I am and always…
  • I'm at 1500, and aim for 150g protein. You're welcome to look at mine and/or friend me. Note - I'm an IF'er, which is why my meals are a little weird. My main sources are eggs/egg whites, lean meats, cottage cheese, and plain yogurt (which I usually mix with walnuts and a little fresh fruit - I'm only at 80g carbs per day…
  • If I'm bored and it's making me want to eat, I usually take a hot bath, sometimes with my Kindle. Great distraction.
  • If you can't reschedule drinks with your friend, I would definitely recommend sticking to water or club soda with lime (my personal favorite). I agree with previous posters that you still have to be able to live your life, but also think life is about choices - and you have to limit the indulgences to be successful at…
  • Some people will disagree with me, but I'd recommend black coffee if you like it (I don't like it hot, but love it iced) to help take the edge of the caffeine withdrawals. Baby steps...first less, then either none or very little. I love zevia btw - it's sweetened with stevia and comes in lots of flavors.
  • The only way I keep it in check is making all my own food. I hardly ever eat out, and keep packaged foods to the bare minimum (like a protein bar or my protein powder when I can't have a real meal). Doesn't work for everyone but it's the best way for me.
  • I'm only on the 3rd week, so who knows if this will change, but I've gained 2 lbs so far. My weight also fluctuates pretty heavily, so I'm not concerned about it, and I also only record new lows. I'm going to Italy next week, so I don't want to make any major changes to my diet right now, but when I get back I'm going to…
  • Me too! And I can barely stand the smell in the shower, so I'm not sure drinking it would work so well for me.
  • I take it to work for snacks often. Try this. The night before, put it in a container (tupperware or whatever) with sliced frozen or fresh fruit. By the time you're ready to eat it the next day the yogurt will have taken on a lot of the fruity flavor. Works especially well with frozen raspberries. Stir it up and it's all…
  • I personally can easily gain 2-3 lbs of water weight after a salt-filled weekend, too. And if you don't normally eat many carbs and have a day full of carbs, you will also gain water weight. At least I do - it's a given for me! I wouldn't worry too much unless you start to see a consistent gain or your measurements are…
  • Agree! It's Coffeemate, but their Naturals line. They also have caramel and I think french vanilla, but the sweet cream is definitely the best. I either drink my coffee with 1T of this stuff + a couple tablespoons of milk, or I do milk only. Another option would be the flavored liquid stevia (NuNaturals makes a vanilla one…
  • MFP only has a 15% target for protein. I changed mine manually to 40% carbs, 30% each protein and fat, and I'm still usually over. Protein is the one you should be least worried about exceeding in my opinion! 15% is pretty low - and if I ate the amount of carbs they suggest I'd be a ballon of bloat. As for sugar, if it's…
  • I'm using regular whey protein. And yes, I changed my settings - but if you're using the # insanity gives you, I don't think you're supposed to eat your exercise calories back in addition (because the Insanity calculation is already accounting for your exercise). So when I log in, I just concentrate on the food # and…
  • I'm only speaking from personal experience, but it seems for my body that it causes water retention and bloating. If I've been eating flawlessly, even carbonated water will do it. For me, sugar or artificial sweeteners = puff. Which is not to say I never have them. I just have to watch the amount, or be prepared for the…
