LOL, I realized this week that I've lost a toddler - funny when you put weight loss in that context! This morning I decided to try on size 14 pants to see how close I was to fitting in them and they fit now (started as an 18/20 depending on the cut)! Also, the shirt that I pulled out of the closet to wear was looking…

I recently discovered Emerald's cocoa roast almonds! 150 calories for approximatley 30 nuts - fills me up and gives me that sweetness that I usually crave mid-afternoon!

Not true - it accounts for minimal movement throughout the day (5,000 steps or less). Mine is set at sedentary and I wear a pedometer to know exactly how many steps I take throughout the day. I log calories burned for every step taken above and beyond 5,000 in a day.

Progresso Reduced Sodium French Onion Soup has 50 calories per serving/2 servings per can - 100 cals right there! I had it for lunch one day last week and it was pretty tasty too!

Amazing - congrats!

I've heard that men's pants are starting to get inflated sizes too - i.e. a 34x36 may be slightly more than 34 inches around the waist... just another symptom of America's refusal to acknowledge the obesity epidemic!

^^this! I'm a ways from my goal weight as well, but there was a great piece on NPR regarding how those who have lost weight have to generate a deficit of 300-400 calories per day when compared to a similar build person who never had the extra weight to lose. To me that means that the lifestyle that I'm building now will…

Is your overall trend a loss? I weigh daily and I know and expect that there will be fluctuations. The fluctuations don't always follow what I think they will based on my diary (i.e. sometimes the morning after a "bad" day I will actually have lost a bit and sometimes after 2-3 days of working out and staying within my…

I weigh myself every morning - naked with an empty bladder and before I eat anything or shower. I log it each day, but I know to expect the daily fluctuations. I don't count myself as hitting a mini goal until I've had 3 consecutive days at or below that goal. If you log it daily MFP will post any loss from the previous…

Are you saying that you don't make a point to do these things after working out during the rest of the month??

When I travel somewhere that I have to fly to I try to hit a grocery or drug store when I get there to stock up on healthy, portable snacks that don't need to be refrigerated for the time that I'm away. Triscuits and pistacios are favorites, along with almonds, bananas, apples, granola bars, etc. For meals while I'm away I…

I have a Polar HRM that is a chest strap and watch unit and I love it. The chest strap is what collects the data and it transmits it to the watch so that you can see what your heart rate is at, how many calories you've burned, etc. But I don't think that you *have* to wear the watch on your wrist - it should just be close…

I agree completely - I get annoyed when I see people logging light cleaning or other every day activities - I mean, when you aren't focused on getting in shape are you not cleaning either?? But if I do it for the purpose of additional activity, above and beyond what I would normally do, then it gets logged!

I love food too! I used to play a mental game with myself. I would plan out my meals and snacks for the day, then figure out how often I could eat something if I wanted to eat at regular intervals throughout the day. So if I had breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 4 snacks I would plan to eat breakfast at 8 and then I could eat…

And you're still with him??? Glad it was a wake up call, but that's some negativity that you could maybe stand to lose...

Thank you for pointing out how ridiculous the first poster is being. Men are responsible for controling their urges regardless of what a woman is wearing. This line of thought is the "blame the victim" mentality. If a woman is raped after working out in leggings then it is NOT HER FAULT.

Right now: 1) carrots 2) grapes 3) pistachios I tend to rotate the fruit and veggies based on what's on sale and what we have in the house. I also rotate through yogurt, cheese sticks, almonds and triscuits. Carrots are very portable so I usually have them as my "on the road" snack when I'm leaving work so I'm not famished…
