  • I love Egyptian Magic. I thought it would be too oily for my oily, acne-damaged, acne-prone skin, but nope, it absorbs beautifully. I am currently pimple free (which is extremely rare) and my skin looks dewy and supple and young and the old scars are gone too. You need just a little bit too, so it never gets over! It…
  • There's a variety of whole grains from India I cook a lot with. Millet, finger millet, barley, pearl millet/sorghum are my favourites. The millet and sorghum I use to make unleavened flat bread, as thickeners for soups etc. The finger millet makes great batter for spiced crepes apart from being used for flat bread, spiced…
  • Chai = tea Chai =/= tea with spices. Chai is half milk and half water boiled together with sugar and black tea powder/leaves. If you add spices to it, it is spiced tea/chai or masala chai. For one cup of chai, try 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of water, 1 tsp of sugar and 1 tsp of tea powder, wait for it to boil and boil on…

  • Just to add to that, don't throw away all your fat clothes either till you've been your new size for a few months. You might need them again :grumble:
  • Sorry for the edits, but I realized I didn't answer your question. If you boiled one cup raw lentils in water, the whole pot would contain between 650-700 calories. If you consumed one cup of boiled lentils out of this pot, you will have eaten about 230 cals. 1 cup = 240ml Check the website I posted. It gives you…
  • Eat whatever you want and eat like you usually do and try to maintain some caloric deficit per day either through diet or exercise. Don't change meals and meal routines drastically and switch to foods you think are healthy and stop eating the food you generally eat and enjoy. You'll just want to go back sooner or later.…

  • 1 cup of uncooked rice = 650-700 cals 1 cup cooked rice = 200 cals Rice will generally swell to slightly more than three times its size when raw. So if you boil 1/3 cup uncooked rice, it will yield a little over one cup cooked, which would be around 200-250 cals. To make it less confusing, cooked rice: 1 cup = 200-250 cals…
  • I love heavy dinners. I eat about 500-800 calories at night between 8-11pm. I've tried eating smaller meals at night but I invariably eat another meal before I sleep if I do that. I also do not like breakfast and small meals throughout the day. I tried the heavy breakfast, smaller lunch and very small dinner thing and it…
  • A tbsp of oil would be 120 cals added to your eggs, so why not count it? If there is some left on the pan, maybe you could add it as 1/2 tbsp or 3/4 tbsp based on eyeballing how much is left over.
  • When I was a student, I once put ALL my clothes in a washer/dryer that shrank everything to about 2 sizes smaller. I had nothing to wear at all! Goodwill was awesome! I got a whole lotta stuff for about 100 bucks. Don't worry, you'll be fine! They're just clothes after all. They're replaceable, cheer up! :flowerforyou:
  • Fantastic work! Keep it up!
  • Tom and Jerry was always my favourite. Even now, I will watch it if it's playing somewhere! Atom Ant Johnny Quest Ducktales X-Men SWAT Cats He-Man Penelope Pitstop
  • One time about 3 years back I ate an entire large, greasy-as-hell, pepperoni and bacon pizza by myself along with a large meat lover's calzone full of cheese and a huge order of fries along with 3 cokes. :noway: I think that was about 11,000 calories... I still feel ashamed :ohwell:
  • I lost it at this ! Oh god I've actually done this kind of thing!!:blushing:
  • I love my rice cakes Indian style, soft and hot! Called idlis and eaten with sambar and coconut chutney! l LOVE rice cakes, rice pilaf, saffron rice, rice with butter, biryani rice, yoghurt rice, Spanish rice, Middle Eastern style rice, Afghan style rice, Thai basil fried rice, fried rice of every kind, sushi rice, rice…
  • Dal Makhani/Kali dal I've tried it out in the crockpot a few times and tested it till it came out right. I make this in a big quantity and freeze it in batches of 2 cups since it freezes well. This does take a long time so its always better to make a big batch. Total calories: 1742 Makes 15 cups Cals per serving/1 cup =…
  • This is a family recipe for yellow daal. It may not be the same you tasted at the restaurant because that was probably Punjabi style daal, but it's another option. :) Healthy Homemade Yellow Dal South Indian Style I make this in a pressure cooker since it takes about 5-10 minutes. The longer way would be to make it in a…
  • I'm Hindu. I don't believe in religion or God though. I do however participate in Indian worshipping ceremonies and festivals if I have to, because I don't care one way or the other, and don't feel the need to tell/explain to everyone around me my beliefs.
  • Thank you!! This was super helpful!
  • Thanks! I've read this post before, but unfortunately I don't have access to the gym right now to be able to use any kind of weights except dumbbells. I completely agree with you about the less resistance bit in the videos. I use 8-10 kg dumbbells instead of the little ones shown in the videos. So my arms look good, but…
  • I LOVE Ethiopian food! The flavour explosion OMG! You're gonna have a new favourite cuisine! I'm Indian, so it isn't really spicy for me at all. Also, since I eat with my hands anyway and I'm used to eating roti/naan to pick up veggie/meat curry, it wasn't a very different experience. I love the chicken stew called Doro…
  • Also, it would be public service!
  • I tried the Master Cleanse. Did it for 8 days. I put on a massive amount of weight after I finished this "cleanse". Almost 11 lbs. Right after I finished doing it, I'd lost about 6 pounds but at a huge cost. All I could ever think of was solid food (I was even dreaming about it at night, my tongue went bald, I blew a whole…
  • Eat it!! When I have cravings for certain things, I make them at home and eat them as often as I can, then I stop craving them. Like last month I was craving pizza all the time, so I made veggie pizzas for breakfast everyday for 15 days and got over it. Well not completely, but kinda...
  • During my TOM I get really hungry too, and I don't bother with a calorie deficit. I eat my TDEE amount. If I'm hungrier, I eat more. A few days per month really don't matter so much, especially if there is a deficit every other day of the month. If you feel bad/guilty, simply work out more afterwards... No point going…
  • Depends what you mean by too much and also from person to person. I increased protein intake to 30% since I started strength training, which comes to 90-125 gms per day. I eat about that much and I'm seeing better results with no issues. My husband on the other hand was eating about the same amount of proteins and was told…
  • You are absolutely amazing! You should be super proud of yourself! This is a fantastic achievement!
  • Happened to me too. Shower right after and use a new towel per workout and make sure to wash workout towels with antiseptic soap. That did the trick for me.
