I don't know how this fairy tale got so big that our parents actually fear for us when we don't believe in it. I have to remind my mom that only 33% of the world's 7 billion people actually believe in this Jebus fellow, so that's 2.3 billion believers and 5.7 NON - believers. Who's nuts now.

First, pick up "Galloway on Running". You want to incrementally push up your long runs, about 2 mi. Every two weeks. You want to vary from maintenance runs, hill work, interval (fartlek), and long runs (usually Sunday). Get fitted at a running store for some good training shoes ( min. $100). A marathon is two races, the…

That is fantastic. Thanks for sharing; I hope to be where you are in 3 months.

Hopefully run a 10k or Half Marathon.

I am 51 and started Dec. 13 after my Dr. Had told me that my bloodwork indicated I had type II diabetes. I was 250 lbs. I was already on BP and cholesterol medication. My cholesterol was 196, tryglicerides were 176, and BP was 140/80, and that was ON the medications. My fasting blood sugar was 156, my A1c was 6.6.…

Same here, my Triglycerides fell 70 pts, my BP is 116/64 (used to be 130s/80, and my cholesterol was down 40 pts with the HDL where it needs to be, but the LDL still has a ways to go at 91 (wants it under 70), and A1C was 5.8 (down from 6.6. But I'm hoping by my May to get the okay to get off my cholesterol and BP meds.

I used to get them and I believe it could be due to low potassium, but I could always get rid of them by sucking on a popsicle, as wierd as that sounds, especially banana flavored ones.

That's probably too much of a generalization, but strength training will tighten things up a bit.

Problem is, here in the U.S., because of the extremely well funded agricultural lobby, we don't get the courtesy of having these foods labelled, which would make it easier for us to make an intelligent choice. We have to learn about these things from the alternative press, then retain that info in the grocery store. In…

Since you say you don't want to lose any more weight, it seems you've got 2 lbs. in the bank. Take a rest and use them. It's not going to hurt. Now, if it were me, with 30 still to lose, I'd hit the gym.

51 yr. old post secondary instructor. Have always been rather healthy and active (runner, biker, biathlon, marathoner, tennis, basketball, etc.). In my early 40's (175) I started a new job that took away from my exercise time, and I started getting sports-related injuries when I did exercise. Then I started smoking again…

Congratulations! I'm impressed. I too found it much easier than I had imagined, because I don't have to cut out the foods I like, just moderate them. Keep it up!

You can choose your car, you can choose where to live, you can choose what you want to eat tonight, but you can't choose your parents! Unless you're living at home with her, I'd shut her out of my life.

My abs...I'm trying to find my old fitness tapes with the ab work in it. Right now I've got a 40, but I'd like to get 2 twofours by May and a 6pack by July.
