  • I would like to join the thread. I am 39 and started the program today. I have to work on mastering the prone jackknife, as I did alot of falling this morning. The diet portion will be tricky for me, as I have IBS, so there alot of things that I can't eat, but will try to modify it without sacrificing the protein. I'm a…
  • My standard reply to comments and compliments is ' Thanks, I am a work in progress.' Many of us on MFP have gone up and done with our weight over the years, battled demons and despite it all, have somehow found this place to connect with others who have been through it all. Embrace the compliments and keep moving forward.…
  • I am in. I've been yo-yo-ing all month between 175-180, so time to get focused and drop these pounds. I want to be below 170 by December 1. SW:212 CW:180 GW:175 10/1: 180 10/08: 10/15: 10/22: 10/29:
  • Just for the record, I sometimes order a diet coke at McD's, and am not delusional that it will somehow cancel out my McChicken calories. I do it so I don't add an extra 100 calories to my daily total, which I accounted for on the food. Just sayin'.
  • This diet sounds like starvation, and that is never a good plan for long term success. Quick fix diet fads are just that. :noway:
  • I did W5D3 this morning. I had planned to walk uphill on the warm up and the rest of the route was going to be relatively flat and downhill, just to make sure I didn't bail half way through the run. However, midway through, a rain storm blew in and I decided to change my route and ended up doing the last 5 minutes up a…

  • That is great! It is amazing what a gradual build up this program is. 5 weeks and you are running non stop for 20 minutes. I did W5D2 this morning, so looking forward to my 20 minute run in two days. :flowerforyou:

  • I would go with running to work a few days/week, and on the days you walk, take an extra outfit for the next day. I can't stand even running with a hydration belt. Somedays my ipod is even a nuisance. The camelbaks fit the closest to the body, but like you said, they don't hold much. Maybe just pack clean undergarments in…
  • I am on W3D3 and am up to 3 minute runs. It is a good, gradual increase, so don't be worried about the longer runs. I have done 'learn to run' programs before and you just take one day at a time. The nice thing about this app, is that if you aren't ready to advance to the next week, you can repeat it until you are. Even…

  • That's great. I did that on my last run too. Some days I am dying at the end of the runs, but if I still have some juice or find myself on a downhill section, I will keep going for 5 or ten minutes. It totally depends on the day. At the end of my run on Sunday, I decided to run past where I parked my car up a fairly steep…
  • I agree. The scales at my house are not moving much lately, but I am constantly surprised at how much healthier I feel, how much better things fit and those NSV's are becoming more important than the number. Sounds like you have a great regime going, so keep doing what you are doing. Getting strong and healthy takes hard…
  • I will be 39 next month and a member of MFP since January. I am halfway to my goal of losing 50lbs. all due to this site and the motivation I get from my MFP family. Add me if you like.
  • Me too. Avocados often replace meat in a meal for me. So good for you!
  • I find the class I attend and the Zumba for Wii vary, but it's all good. As far as looking foolish, don't worry about it. I had the same apprehension about the class only to realize that nobody cares about you, as they are too busy concentrating on getting the moves down themselves to even notice. Zumba is really all about…

  • I also agree about trying a class first. Lots of them offer 'drop-in'. I just finished 10 weeks of Zumba (once/week) and I can't wait to go again in the fall. Fastest hour ever! I also have Zumba 2 for Wii, but it's not as much fun alone.

  • I hear you. This is worth doing an extra workout for. Bacon+Chocolate=Delicious.
  • I might have to try the NIke+ GPS. I have Mapmyrun, but not sure it will run simultaneously. I love technology.

  • I prefer early mornings, but my dog begs me to walk her instead, and she is not a runner. Now it's early evening on sidewalks and trails around my home. Last night I ran the track while my kids played in the adjacent playground, and it was motivating to get a wave and cheer from them everytime I came around. I like to vary…
  • Last night I finished W1D2. It was great. I have the iphone app and really appreciate the prompts and find myself really picking up the pace in the last 10 seconds of each run. It's like having a trainer along kicking me into gear. This has been a great program to get me back into running after a 2 year break. I have…

  • LOL. That is hilarious. The miracles of hair growth. I had a similar experience and had a pretty balanced HS career and have kept in contact with lots of friends. We shared all the drama and insecurities of adolescence together, so there is a bond that is pretty deep. Reunions are only as fun as you want them to be. I…
  • Zumba and getting healthy are your priorities and you have to take control of your own life even when married. If he doesn't support that, than you are off to a bad start. From my experience, the best men are attracted to women who are confident. The ones that try to bring you down are harbouring alot of insecurities and…
  • My May goal is to be more active and get into the 170's.
  • NSV: My jeans and pants that I haven't worn in 2 years (since I was training for 1/2 marathon) are back in action and two pairs are already loose! 5 more lbs. and I will be shopping for another size. Can't wait! Only a two sizes to single digits, which is my 2012 goal. Sign me up! CW: 187 GW: 182 (end of April) Weigh in…
  • I am on everyday and check it more than FB. Feel free to add me!
  • It is a shame how many people miss out on their reunions for this exact reason. Do you think you are the only one who has gained weight in the last 20 years? At what stage in our lives are we going to stop caring about what the people in high school think of us? Go, with confidence and have fun. Be happy that you are still…
  • Lots of great advice for you and your new canine roommate. lol Costco has great dog beds and are reasonably priced. Give him his own bed at the new house. Most dogs behavior can be curbed with consistency, so this shouldn't take long. Also, a tired dog is a happy dog and will get into less trouble, easier to train etc. As…
  • I just found some info about advantages of drinking lemon water, particularly in the morning on a blogspot. All good reasons to chug a glass at the beginning of the day. "1. It keeps skin clear and glowing! I have noticed this. Hydration from drinking lemon water is great for moisturizing our skin from the inside out.…
