Everyone should report back here tonight on what they did to change their current situation... Mad you didn't work out? Go do it! Take a step forward... Mad you didn't make a healthy choice eating this week? Do something today! Take a step forward... Mad you let someone tell you that you are not worthy of a healthy body?…

I use a Camelbak and I think it works just fine. It does take a little getting used to on you shoulders, but the weight is not that bad. Weight depends on how much you put into it (empty it is only a pound or so) I generally put about a half gallon of Poweraide in mine, so I'm looking at about 5-6 pounds to start, They are…

Well done... On all accounts!

18 Miles Running!!

I look to the road ahead and pick out a landmark I can barely see and think to myself 'Just gotta run to there...' and before I'm there pick out the next one. Also I break my long runs into segments (5k, 1 Mile, etc.) and tell myself 'that is only 5280 feet to go' or 'only a 5k to go- you've run a 5k before, you can do one…

Google 'Hundred Pushups' and you will find HundredPushups.com. They have bunch of body weight exercises that will help you gain strength without a gym membership or weight set. There is also running or fast walking for your cardio workout. Play around with them and hopefully you find something you like to do! Good luck!

Make sure you google 'good running form' and try to develop a good mid sole foot strike when you speed your pace. This will allow your muscles to take most of the pounding from running - saving your knees!

Yoga does help with flexibility, strength and balance- in subtle ways- it won't help you lift more, but it will help keep you from injury by strengthening your joints and ligaments. I run on my Yoga days, but my experience is to do cardio first and use the yoga as a cool down/stretching routine. I don't like doing cardio…

... When I lace up my shoes and head out! I am a runner (some days easier and faster than others, but a runner none the less!)
-
Amen! I weight myself daily as well and take an average of the past ten days for my 'actual' weight. This lets me see if I'm headed in the right direction without freaking out about a pound of water I didn't shed or getting really excited after a long run where I haven't fully re-hydrated myself. Everyone is different…

Very true!! I'm with the opinion to keep adding a little time each day to your run (you can easily do another 3-5 minutes). Before you know it you will have that 3.1 Miles and then some!

Probably just as important as eating healthy... If you are not hydrated properly, a couple of things happen- it is harder to eliminate all the toxins from your body, so they stay in your tissue longer and can cause a multitude of problems long term. Your body will recognize this and retain a lot of the water you do drink,…

I'd definitely echo the 'did it sooner' sentiment... I was a mean 165 coming out of Army Basic Training... up 20 pounds from my scrawny high school weight- then I wasted it and ballooned up. I got out of the Army and gained even more, got lazier and let it all go... until you have that first health scare! Mine was with my…

As far as fruits go... Eat mostly the ones with skins... apples, pears, berries, grapes - the fiber in the skin helps to shield the sugar from your system so your body doesn't spike your insulin and burn it all instead of fat. Fiber is your friend when it comes to hiding sugar carbs. Also, keep the exercise variable- walk…

I have a list of people who cannot run... People I know with disabilities, soldiers who have disabilities, soldiers who have been killed, people who have overcome major obstacles in their lives... I have a list of those who love and support me, who are there for me whether I succeed or fail... I make a list before every…
