  • If you cut it and regret it, it would be a long time to get it back to where you want it. I'd chop off say a third at most and get layers cut in. Still long enough to enjoy, but with a different look to it.
  • We do have to be careful about snakes at the moment, I live close to bush, and right now it's prime snake time. Don't go in long grass, and be aware of the possibility you might come across one. Hard to tell inquisitive children and dogs this though, that's the scary part.
  • I'm a Melbourne girl but my mum lives in Bendigo and my brother lives in Geelong - both large regional cities which retain a more country feel than Melbourne. I'd live in Bendigo if I could. I've never left the country though, the cost of going anywhere is prohibitive. I want a passport but I'm not wasting $260 on a…
  • That's how I like to do a cooldown after a run on the treadmill, if I have the time. It's great - the highest inclines are really hard, but they're over soon enough.
  • My absolute maximum would be 600 calories burned in an hour. My treadmill (not LifeFitness) thinks I easily get up to 1000 calories in an hour but there's no way. I'm more likely to average around 500 for a good workout, up to 600 for a very very intense workout. If I'm just walking on the treadmill, it would be no more…
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups I think it was in here, you find the group, click on it and then there is a button to request to join the group.
  • Yes, I'm from Melbourne - there's a whole group of Australians here and a sub forum too. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/257-aussie-aussie-aussie-
  • It's 18 years later and in the last few years I have begun to have two or three bad sore throats a year that take a few weeks to get better. I hope it's not that my tonsils are growing back but for many years I was free.
  • I had mine at 20, and my doctor told me to eat scratchy things like toast, not to be a wuss and eat soft things. I did what I was told but it hurt a lot. However, it helped me a lot, I had been sick so often before that and finally didn't have infections all the time. After I awoke from the operation, I vomited blood all…
  • Shortland Street (New Zealand) Neighbours (Australia) How I Met Your Mother The Office (both UK and US) Being Erica Degrassi (all of them)
  • Yes, Australians use (or they should) British English, and the built in spell checks get it wrong. I adjust mine but there can be a section of a document that is considered US English. I don't get it. Luckily, I'm proficient at my written language and can disregard spell checkers that aren't correct. Plenty of people…
  • It's very clear when the machines are wrong because they are often so far out from what you would expect. Based on using an HRM fora couple of years, I now know what is a normal pattern of heart rate behaviour for me, and can work out an expected range of calories burned. When you get on one machine that way overinflates…
  • My old gym had the 20 minute limit on cardio, so I'd do that but I'd allow myself the built in five minute cool down too. However, I'd feel guilty all the time. Well come on, 20 minutes isn't very long! But if you're going flat out for it, you want that cool down. I recently cancelled my membership and invested in a…
  • I don't trust either - I bought an HRM to calculate my calories. My treadmill (and those at the gym I used to go to) usually overestimates calories burned by quite a lot. Without knowing my height, weight, sex, and continuing heart rate, a machine or MFP can't possibly calculate a figure that is reasonably accurate. Being…
  • It's not just a US problem, but it seems worse in USA and other Western countries (like here in Australia) are trying to learn from your mistakes. The fact that so many hidden nasties are in your foods has become more well known. USA tends to be ahead of the rest of us with bringing out new food products on a mass scale.…
  • Making dinner for my family.
  • It's more or less doubled by cooking, when you're cooking for several people, it's impractical to cook your own separately, so I guesstimate based on the fact that 100g dry is around 200g cooked (eg). I've realised now that my old way of thinking was sillier, I used to load up on the pasta and have less sauce, but the…
  • It's 11.30pm and I have a few hundred calories I can afford to eat (lots of exercise today), and I haven't gotten close to my calcium intake, so I'm off to have a yoghurt. I don't have a problem with eating at any particular time, it's more about meeting my requirements when I can. I'm going to fall under on calcium and…
  • My diary is private because although I really eat very well most of the time, I allow myself the odd treats here and there, and I don't preach that how I eat is how everyone should eat. I don't want to hold myself up as an example. I know the way I should be eating and I do try to do that most of the time. But I'm…
  • 10 miles is 16km, that's amazing! I'm proud that I can do 10km in about an hour, but you're absolutely flying!
  • As already said, in Australia we don't put our weight on our licences. A full licence stands for 10 years, what's the purpose of having a weight there knowing that it may wildly fluctuate in that time? 10 years ago I had managed to lose quite a bit of weight, but was still heavier than I am now (soon afterwards I piled the…
  • Your heart rate monitor should also know your sex, which makes a huge difference. Does the GPS pedometer know your sex? The pedometer also is unlikely to know your heart rate throughout the workout, which affects the overall calorie burn/calculation. If your heart rate monitor is set up with your statistics, it's likely to…
  • It's a lovely dessert. I used to hate it but if you have a good one that's homemade, it's amazing. A store bought ready made one doesn't do it justice. Edit: sorry, I haven't a clue how to stick an image in the post.
  • I do love my lamb, it's supposed to be a significant Aussie dish. And I make a great Pavlova, but I understand the rivalry between Australia and New Zealand over it!
  • What is mine? A shrimp on the barbie? I hate seafood! Unfortunately us Australians don't have a long culture to draw on.
  • Certainly sounds odd! I'd be contacting the company and double checking!
  • It's like the metric version of calories. I'm in Australia, but I've always worked in calories. When I see a packet which only lists kj, I have to divide it by 4.2 to work out the approximate calories.
  • Since I took control of my life, I've certainly gotten better with age - I think everyone has the potential to get better with age if they truly want to.
  • You're in Australia, yes? Based on your running bib it looks like it anyway. How good is that? No training at all? You must have it in your genes.
