  • My husband and I have swapped over time. When we first met, I was the lazy lump and he went to karate training once or twice a week. He was a black belt in karate. Three years ago, I took control of my health and started exercising. I fit in an hour of exercise four or five times a week, and am much fitter and healthier…
  • I've never found flavoured coffee beans to be very nice - when ground for the machine, they just come through far too weak and not full bodied at all. But then again it would depend whether you like a good strong coffee too. I do, so it really lacks something. I've given up on flavoured beans completely for this reason.
  • I guess the pumpkin takes up the consistency you would need from adding the eggs etc. I use apple sauce instead of butter when I'm trying to make things healthier - it's a similar type of substitution.
  • I've done a couple of 5km fun runs, best time was around 25 minutes. I did a 10.5km fun run on the weekend, which included one particularly difficult hill, in 64 minutes. I was really pleased with that, considering I slowed down whenever it got a bit too much, so I didn't burn out. But then I found out one of the other…
  • Does it have a weight measure per serve, rather than per slice? Perhaps that's where they're tricking you. So it's say 35 calories per 20g (I'm in Australia), rather than per slice?
  • I sometimes sprinkle cinnamon on top, like a cappuccino. I used to love flavoured syrups, but in recent times I've been very aware of the taste of the "fakeness" of them and have given up. Even the sugar free ones still have a yucky tinge to them. You can make a mocha by putting a teaspoon or so of drinking chocolate in…
  • Many machines are Polar compatible, so they can pick up the heart rate being transmitted, but they are usually not very good at getting the calories calculated, even with this information.
  • My Foods are those which you've added to the database, so if you haven't done that, there won't be anything there yet.
  • I'm loving the treadmill itself, but the onboard workouts are too slow, so I'm using manual settings. I will invest in the iFit module one of these days.

  • The Polar FT4 is pretty good, I had it's predecessor, the F4, and it was great as a basic calorie monitor. I upgraded to an FT60 and got the FlowLink and I love it. Occasionally it doesn't pick up the heart rate properly, but that's either because the batteries need replacing (which I can do on this one, not on the one I…
  • I just want to say you're utterly amazing - I hope I can be as good as you're looking at your age - I'm getting better with age but you are breathtaking! Have you been featured in a magazine like Oxygen? What an inspiration!
  • I just realised another thing, I did my own hair and makeup, as did everyone else (mum, bridesmaids etc). That helped keep costs down. And I did hire a photographer, but he wasn't too expensive, about $800. I've been married before and I didn't get photos last time, so that was one thing I really wanted this time. And they…
  • 1, How long did you plan? About a year 2. How much did you spend? (sorry if that's personal) Was this more/less than you planned? All up, about $5000 AUD - including dress ($160), bridesmaids outfits, venue hire, food, wedding night, etc 3. How many people were invited/ how many showed up? We invited around 100, with about…
  • I just thought of something else - I use my iPad and iPhone mostly for MFP, and on there, I pay no attention to anything anyone says. It's only when I sit at my computer desk and log in that I might have a look at the actual page and comments, as well as the forum. It's like my brother - he changed his mobile phone number…
  • See, I'm not reaching out for friends because I'm doing this for me, no-one else. I don't need others to make sure I'm accountable, I'm accountable to myself. So I have a couple of friends, one because she asked and I thought why not, and one because I know her from another forum we're both members of. But I don't go…
  • I'd definitely recommend doing the C25K programme if you want to be able to run. I couldn't run at all, without struggling to breathe. Once I graduated from the programme, I was capable of 5km, but went on to do a couple of 10km runs. I don't keep the practice up enough, but I know I'm perfectly capable of running 5km in a…
  • Even at my goal weight, I still have the roll, it's part of me. It diminishes, but doesn't go away entirely if that's your body type. When you get there, you'll find out what sort you have and if you're lucky it will be gone. It's worse for me (and others like me) because I allowed myself to get overweight before I had my…
  • I'm 159cm and I believe the ideal weight for me is about that, less 100cm. So 59kg. Anywhere between 55-60 is brilliant for my height. I'm holding onto a few extra kilos at the moment and I know they will go and I will get back there. I got down to 58 and was very happy with the way my clothes fit.
  • I was about 85kg, which is around 190 pounds, but I'm only 159cm so I certainly didn't wear it very well. Now I'm hovering around 63kg and I want to get back down to about 58kg (127 pounds) which I feel is a very healthy weight for my height. I got there, but let the kilos creep up a bit too much. I have chosen to make the…
  • Mine are now so pathetic that I doubt removing them from the equation would make a great deal of difference.
  • Bachelor of Business (Management).
  • It's frustrating once you've gotten used to more high impact stuff, but if that's all you can do, go for it. Walking is a very good exercise, even if it's not going to burn as many calories for you. It's how I started off, I lost 10kg with diet and walking alone, then started to get more active after that. Walking is one…
  • I believe you're meant to add something equivalent to a tub of full fat yoghurt at least each day - so as others are saying, at least around 200 calories. You need more fuel than usual even if you're actively trying to lose weight. You have to have enough to ensure that your baby is getting the nutrients it needs, as well…
  • I thought this was going to be some awful thread because of the backwards sad face emoticon. Having said that, I have two cuties - 4 and 5 year old girls. My youngest drives me utterly insane, she's still throwing tantrums every chance she gets and it's exhausting. But when she's a sweetie, she's a really lovely little…
  • The simple fact is that the larger you are, the more your body has to work to do the same activity. So if you're doing the exact same activity as someone of a much smaller size, they are going to burn far less than you. It sucks really, because the fitter and smaller you get, the less you burn, and the less you need to eat…
  • The wait is insane here in Australia too, but although I'd certainly like the latest greatest one, I'm not going to bother. I have the 4S, it's a year old and I have the extra year warranty from AppleCare. I also have a number of products which work with the existing dock connector, so at this point, I can't see the reason…
  • I chucked a heap of stuff because when I hadn't done that previously and my weight started creeping up, I just started to wear the bigger stuff again without really noticing how much weight I'd put on. Eventually I was bigger than ever. Now I've gotten rid of everything that is above the next size up from where I am. That…
  • I did it back in about 2001 here in Australia. It worked for me, but I put all the weight back on because I stopped recording/tracking. I got back into it by just using the information I already had learned. It worked for me, but then I started using CalorieKing.com.au in the same way. That worked really well for me. I…
  • The idea of starvation mode comes from someone who is already slim drastically reducing their calorie intake to one which is far too low for their body. For those with significant amounts of weight to lose, it will take a long time before your body gets to that point, as there is plenty of internal fat to feed off.…
  • Melbourne, used CK for a long time, but slowly working my way over to the diary here because it's a lot more user friendly as an app and offline.
