I have days occasionally where I don't change the quality of food eaten, but increase the quantity. Sometimes significantly, as much as double my calorie goal. Hasn't caused any weight gain or caused me to "fall off the wagon" yet.

Cut up the beef and put it into the leftover beef stew. Go for a walk and feed the buns to birds at the park.

MFP's default goals seem to be based on the USDA's daily guidelines for Americans. The food pyramid and now "My Plate" people. Like others have said. Adjust them to what makes sense for you.

High quality fats tend to do the trick for me. Eggs, almonds, organic peanut butter, avacados and yes even evil evil bacon. Only takes a little bit of each to fill me and keep me full.
