I gave up soda years ago. I eat lots of cheese and sour cream though. Try water. it's what your body wants and once you start drinking it in quantity, it grows on you. I used to say "Water and Wine is all i drink" but now i'm just down to water

I've been doing keto since January, have lost 36 pounds (31 to go) but have gone from a size 16 to a 6. I intend to eat this way for the rest of my life, my doctor is behind me having taken me off one blood pressure med and a statin since my cholesterol numbers were phenomenal. This really works, you will feel so much…

I love this stuff, too! I don't like sweets but this tastes different, more like cream.

Your tolerance for alcohol will change when you are keto-adapted. I used to have a wooden leg, could drink and drink never get drunk. NOW one shot of vodka in a glass of soda and I'm wasted. DRINK WATER in between your alcoholic drinks. You might want to think about cutting down on the alcohol altogether since it is not…

I use the trend-line constantly. It really puts things in perspective and gets you out of the "I haven't lost anything" mind-set.

Crow. Hmm.

I turned 55 this year! I have been on MFP since January 2014. I saw a picture of myself and just couldn't believe how fat I'd become so I swore to lose it! I am doing a low carb high fat diet which is somewhat controversial but has worked incredibly for me. Not just on a weight loss basis but has improved my health. My…

I live in the South (home of fried food) and even here I have no trouble ordering low carb at a restaurant. I would try to plan ahead (if you can) as much as possible, that always helps me. But have fun and enjoy yourself. It won't kill you to indulge especially if you are visiting some of our amazing restaurants.

Everyone who knows I'm doing Keto sent me that link yesterday!

Body type matters quite a bit. I am 5'8", 169 lbs., size 10 pants, size 14/16 top, 40-35-34.5, 6" wrist (small frame). I have no waist, never have. And forget having a nice round tush, I go right from my back to my legs! Every person who has watched me lose these 35 pounds keeps telling me I should stop. They do not…

Thank you all for confirming my diagnosis. I've changed my protein to 20% (60 g) and will eat more fat..

OMG! I thought it was just me. I nearly passed out, was extremely disoriented and dizzy going on a walk through a park. I had to sit down for awhile and then I was still shaky. Thank goodness I was with someone who did get me back to the car and back home safely. This happened to me on Sunday after going to a huge brunch.…

Jason's deli -- they Reuben with no bread, so good! Burger King -- happily serve you a whopper with cheese and no bun ANY steakhouse We eat out quite a bit and I've always found something to eat. Most wait staff are very accommodating. One bad - Applebee's. I think most of their meals come prepackaged so there is no…

I never thought I could give up my glass (or two) of Chardonnay after work. But I did. Because losing the weight meant so much more to me. Now, I can't hold my liquor! I had a vodka/diet tonic and I was trashed. So now I don't want to drink! If you do, stay away from beer and sweet drinks. Distilled liquors (vodka, gin,…

VERY frustrating! Just when I start thinking I should do something drastic, whoosh! I also try to remember that this is a lifestyle change for me and the weight WILL come off in its own time. BE PATIENT!

Experiencing this right now! Ate too much ham for Easter (and leftovers) and now I have awful water retention. And of course I drink 3+liters of water a day, feels like that is still with me. So I'll just wait and it will all be gone. I have been doing Keto for nearly 3 months now and when I look at my charts, i can…

I was on two asthma drugs before starting keto and I have noticed I am not wheezing and here we are in the middle of "pollen season". I had not read that it affects asthma but since that is also an inflammatory disease it makes sense. Anyone else had decrease in their asthma?

LOVE my fried buttered eggs in the morning. YUM.

100% American Mutt - some Scot, some German (PA Dutch), who knows what else. Both sides of my family have been in the states a very long time.

Thanks for the advice. The low-fat stuff is because of my husband. He had open heart surgery 2 years ago and is supposed to be on a low fat diet. I actually went to my doctor today and she thinks he could do the LCHF IF he would cut down on the carbs. This is next to impossible for him. And if I brought butter into the…

One pound a week is fantastic! Keep it up!

I quite drinking any kind of soda 15 years ago! Diet sodas tasted awful and I wanted to try and cut down on sugar, so out it went. Don't ever miss it, either. I drink loads of water, green tea (for my caffeine fix), crystal lite, and shots.

Thanks! I have melanoma skin cancer and I go through this routine every 3-4 months where the surgeon excises the cancer, stitches me up, and I limp around until I go to the dermatologist who finds more cancer and then we start all over again. This time it's three areas within 12" of each other on my lower leg. I've been…

I have a question. I am going to undergo surgery next week on my leg so I will be pretty incapacitated and I am worried that I will gain weight while unable to move. It will be only for a week that I will be immobile but I know muscle starts breaking down right away. Walking will be quite difficult for months. Any ideas?…

I'm 5'8", 179 lbs., a 10 or 12 in pants, 14/16 or L in dresses or tops (boobs that will never shrink :) ). I am rather square shaped and short-waisted (34" inseam) with very little difference between my waist and hips: 36" waist and 40.5" hips. At my tiniest I weighed 120lbs and wore a size 4 (pre-boobs) but my waist was…
