I lost 65 pounds eating less than 15g of carbs a day. It took me 9 months although I wanted it to take longer! The fat just fell off me. So, of course, I did the stupid thing and when I hit my goal decided I would add some carbs back in. I added the wrong carbs, like a dimwit. Now 20 pounds regained, I'm back on the…

I've been restarting since January and have only succeeded in gaining weight. However, I read a very interesting article yesterday that talked about having great success the first time around (on any diet) and failing the second. The article said that it's because we learned how to cheat the first time and still be…

Eggs, meat, lots of cheese, and bacon (which I think should be its own food group).

You need to get your Macros straight. Go here and it will tell you: http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/ I do 5% Carb/70% Fat/25% Protein and aim for 1100 calories a day to lose.

Potassium, magnesium, and sodium. I recently started chromium too. Read about on this site and thought I'd give it a try. I have to be very careful with the sodium because I have Meniere's disease and my fluid balance has to be just so.

The great thing about life is that everyday is a new day. And that applies to your way of eating. Going low carb is a lifestyle change. I definitely think you need to log your food. I lost 65 pounds on LCHF. I am also 57. When I started reintroducing carbs back into my diet, WHAM! 22 lbs. back on. I'm in the process of…

This is my favorite of the low carb groups. Loads of support!

Oh my. I could have written this two years ago. Just ignore them and keep on losing! I got "You're going to drop dead from heart disease eating like that" and "you don't eat ANY fruit???". Had way too many women start some sort of diet the same time I did (January 2, 2014). Most of them have gained weight. I lost 65 pounds!
-
I'm back logging again! Find it keeps me more honest :) Feel free to add me (anyone!), my diary is open.
-
I'm back again, too! Day 1 of taking off the 11 pounds that crept back on from too much booze and carbs. AND I've been feeling awful lately, headaches mostly. Hoping to stop all of this with going back to VLC.

I second the hard boiled egg. Eggs are the perfect food, and not carby like nuts.
-
I'm also back at it! I hit my goal, proceeded to pick up some of my bad habits and now I need to lose 10 pounds. Again. Logging really does keep you honest and on track!

I'm 5'8", small frame. I reached goal (138 lbs.) last year, have fluctuated by five pounds (up!) and still my US size 4s are loose. Sometimes I get a 2 if I can find them.
-
5'8" 138-144 lbs. Maintaining since end of November 2014.

Yes. Potassium is water soluble so it tends to flush out if your system quickly. Magnesium, too.

Just what FIT_Goat says. I've been doing this woe for over a year now. My blood pressure is down so no more meds, my cholesterol is now perfect, and my AC1 which was borderline diabetic is way down too. AND I lost 65 pounds!
-
I try to hit 65g or more of protein a day. I'm 5'8", weigh 138lbs. and 20% body fat.
-
I have been doing this way of eating for over a year now. I lost 65 pounds in nine months, much to my doctor's chagrin! NOW she believes me since my blood pressure is now normal (no more meds), my cholesterol is great, even my borderline Diabetes II is gone. Very low carb (5%), high fat(75%), adequate protein (20%) flies…

I am 55 years old and I weighed 205 pounds on January 2, 2014 and on October 8, 2014 I hit 140 pounds. So 65 pounds in 9 months. I'm VERY happy! I've been good at maintaining it, too, even with pigging out at Thanksgiving. I go up a little, down a little, but I pretty much stay around 140 now. The best part is I no longer…

Everybody looks great!

Fat is incredibly good for you! I can attest to that, I've lost over 65 pounds eating fat. Now I get looks like "she's going to be big as a house if she keeps eating like that!". HA! It's the carbs that are evil. Even though I'm maintaining now, I still keep the carbs low, under 30. I just feel better. Don't worry about…

I love this picture!

From Durham but I do Keto so no running for me. I know there are other NC folks on MFP.

Thanks, Jan! Great post! I find myself in awe at people who ask me how I lost weight, I tell them how plus all the benefits I've experienced, and they say "I couldn't ever give up my (insert sugary sweet something here)!". REALLY??? With all the benefits of this woe I just don't see how you could not love this.
-
Bratwurst. OMG. I could eat them everyday.
-
Welcome back! They say the second time is always easier!
-
I tried Optimal Keto and could not lose weight at all. So I went back to 75% fat/ 20% protein/ 5% carb and it came right off. I am currently at between 60 and 80g of protein a day on maintenance.

I think 3 but I hope for 1.

Turkey Day will just be me and hubby. Might make a little turkey for us or we'll go out. But it will pretty much be just turkey, some bacon/sausage if I can find it and salad. Maybe a bite of his stuffing. Cheating big isn't worth what it does to me.

I had exactly the same thing. I was taking a magnesium supplement but it was magnesium citrate. You want to get Magnesium Aspartate. Since I've been taking the M.A. my leg cramps have all but disappeared. I also read that if you are taking any sort of HRT, have non-treated diabetes, stress and a host of other ailments,…
