Here's what I've been enjoying lately: - 1 hard-boiled egg (80 cals if extra large) - 2 slices of bacon (the kind I get is 80 cals per two slices) - 1/2 cup of whole-fat plain Greek yogurt (Fage is 95 cals) - 50g of raspberries (25 cals) It all clocks in under 300 cals and having all the separate things to eat makes me…

Here are my go-to "I feel awful" foods: frappucinos from Starbucks (great way to get in calories, especially if you have a sore throat - the cold is really soothing), yogurt with honey, toast or English muffins with jam, oatmeal (can add maple syrup, brown sugar, cream, peanut butter), Panera mac & cheese, Gatorade…

Daily, because I like entering my weights into an Excel spreadsheet and comparing the trend line to my goals. I find it helpful to "face the music" on a daily basis rather than weekly or monthly, otherwise I find myself misbehaving and then not wanting to weigh because I'm afraid of bad news, and then if I'm not going to…

I run at night because it's a nice compromise between a) not having to wake up early and b) still being pleasantly cool outside. I overheat really easily and it's one of my biggest workout barriers. The fitness room in my apartment building is set for 74 degrees and there are NO FANS, so it's torture for me to be in there.…

I'm in! I'll be trying on wedding dresses when I go to visit my family for Thanksgiving, and I'd love to drop a dress size or two by then. All of my size 12s started to get iffy toward the end of the summer and that's not a good feeling! I revamped my weightloss efforts on September 1st at 182 lbs, and I'm already down to…

Monday = strength training (upper body) Tuesday = cardio Wednesday = strength training (core) Thursday = cardio Friday = strength training (leg day) Saturday = cardio Sunday = Pilates/rest day My cardio right now is Couch to 5K; once I finish that it'll be cold enough in the mornings that I won't want to run outside, so…

I also give myself a bit more per meal as the day goes on. In general, I try to keep breakfast at 300, lunch at 450, dinner at 550, and snacks at 300 (which includes my after-work snack and my dessert, if I have room for it at the end of the day).

I always feel hypocritical responding to this type of post because I don't eat fruit, but you really do have to grow up and work vegetables into your everyday diet. Without vegetables, you're pretty much left with meat and starch, and those won't get you very far when every calorie matters. Plus, I agree with other posters…

Well, ml (milliliter) is a measure of VOLUME, so you shouldn't be able to weigh this on a scale. I DO use a scale for my ice cream, but that's because I'm measuring the number of GRAMS in a serving. If you want to weigh your ice cream you need to find the serving size in grams; you'd need a measuring cup to measure…

My grocery store has the most delicious coconut date rolls in the bulk bins. All they have in them are dates and shredded coconut, how bad could they be? Apparently one roll the size of my thumb is 110 CALORIES. Lord in heaven, I could have 2 fun-size Snickers for not much more than that, and they'd feel a hell of a lot…

All we have in our 1-bedroom apartment is an ancient wall-mounted unit in the living room. In general, we only run it on days when the temperature goes above ~84, and even then only between the time we get home from work and the time we go to bed. Our standard technique is to open up all the windows with box fans blowing…

I always "water" my eggnog down with skim milk. I started doing it because I got ticked off by how much eggnog stuck to the sides of my glass - it's so thick! But now I realize that I can get all the flavor of a tall glass of eggnog without quite so many calories.

You should check out un****yourhabitat.tumblr.com (the **** is a certain f-word). Yes, there's profanity, but the central tenet is that you don't do marathon sessions of cleaning. Instead, you set a timer for 20 minutes (you've already got the right idea!) and work on what you can, then take a break for 10 minutes, and…

I read in another thread that Jillian Michaels recommends doing 2 days of 30DS, 1 day of cardio, 2 days of 30DS, 1 day of cardio, 1 day of rest... repeat. Apparently the publicity folks liked the way "30 Day Shred" sounded, although it leads to the impression that you're supposed to do 30 consecutive days, when you're…

Ha! My first job with my current employer had me doing primitive camping on an island for a week at a time. I lived off of those instant meals that you add boiling water to, and I'd be jonesin' so hard for fresh vegetables when I got back to the mainland that I'd head straight from the dock to the grocery store to buy…

How's this for unfortunate - I am a natural morning person, and can be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 3 a.m. if I need to be. And, frequently, I do need to be up this early for work (wildlife surveys). What's even more of a miracle is that I do not consume any caffeine to speak of. BUT - though my mind may be up and…

I had the same problem, and it's because I plugged the base station into my computer before I installed the software. I had to remove and plug the base back in before the driver would install, after which point my computer recognized my new Fitbit right away. I hope this works for you as well!

I live with my boyfriend, and the only time either of us closes the door is if we have guests, or if one of us is showering (to keep the warm air in). Even then, we have to open the door immediately upon exiting the shower, because our cat hears when the water is turned off and whines and howls and carries on until you let…

Anything by David Brin! His work is usually classified as hard science fiction, and he really knows his science. He's written a couple of stand-alone novels (The Practice Effect, The Postman, Heart of the Comet, Earth, Glory Season, Kiln People), some collections of short stories (The River of Time, Otherness, Tomorrow…

I suffered from almost daily migraines for about 6 years before I finally hauled my *kitten* into the doctor. I kept a headache diary for a little over a month before going in, and out of 35 days, only 5 of them were headache-free. You're not a girl, so you won't be able to regulate your hormones with a strong whack of…

Hmm... I know exactly what you're talking about, and I think they're delicious, but I've always purchased them here (http://www.cybersnacks.net/mochi_balls.html) and they call them mochi balls. I know this can't be right, though, because traditionally mochi is a glutinous substance made from rice. pdworkman has it right -…

Agreed - my boobs looked awesome (and went up a cup size) after each summer that I spent carrying around a heavy backpack, tripod, and spotting scope balanced on my shoulders. My doctor commented during my breast exam that I had some serious muscle mass under those puppies.

OK, the first place to start would be to STOP referring to broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage as "coliform" vegetables. They're CRUCIFEROUS vegetables. "Coliform" refers to bacteria in the same family as E. coli. Ironic that you say you'd rather eat dog poop when coliform bacteria is what you'd find in it! ANYWAY... I…

I allow myself 1500 calories per day, broken down as follows: Breakfast: 350 (23.3%) Lunch: 350 (23.3%) Dinner: 600 (40%) Snacks: 200 (13.3%) However, every day ends up being a little different. My breakfast today was only 240 calories, my lunch will be 460, I brought cupcakes to work for St. Patrick's day so my snack will…

The HPV vaccine is most effective if you are not yet sexually active, because otherwise you may already have been exposed to the strains of HPV it protects against. However, my doctor still recommended that I get vaccinated, and I've been gettin' busy with my partner for four years. I've had the first two shots, and didn't…

Wildlife biologist - and I absolutely love my job!

I add yogurt (helps with digestion) and unsweetened hot tea (another way to get your fluids) - turns it into the BRATTY diet :)

I've always had good luck with the B.R.A.T. diet - bananas, plain rice, applesauce, and plain toast. No dairy :) This would be pretty bland in the long-term, so hopefully your stomach gives you some good days.
