A remarkable transformation. Women have a tougher row to hoe, without a doubt, to continue the human race. Congratulations on a considerable accomplishment.

Dingle, Try this. Get your carbs/sugar down and shoot for 150g of net carbs a day. (Carbs minus fiber). Start measuring fiber and shoot for >30g per day (I saw almost zero in your one diary day I looked at). Sugar should be more like 35g than 135g per day. That will happen automatically if you are <150g of net carbs per…

Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast. Fish and vegetables of your choosing for lunches or dinner. No added salt, lemon and pepper seasonings. Water as your beverage of choice, non salted nuts like almonds and walnuts for snacks. You will be amazed how fast you drop body fat. Enjoy the cardio, but this challenge is mostly…

And the reason you are certain that you know that this is totally false or not even possible is..........

Many things are not what they seem. Irrespective of whether she is obese or not (she is not of course), it is unlikely that the school administration is just trying to "help". One thought is that they may receive funding (or more of it) if they have a certain percentage or number of "obese" children to run some other or…

Your BMR is 1857 ( I guessed your height at 5'10"). So bored, tired, etc makes sense. For example, I am 58 yrs, and maintaining 168 pounds on 1920 cals a day PLUS eating back most of the time the exercise cals. In the last two days I had 3000 cals and 2300 cals respectively because of the activity cals burned (golf). No…

If this is a concern, try adding some selenium to your diet. Brazil nuts is a good source, just one or two will do. The selenium is believed to be a natural scrub-brush for metals which may or may not be contained in higher order ocean fish. And the nuts taste good too!

Prefer the word guidelines rather than rules. Semantics I know but the implication over time to retain sustainability of the effort is important. That being said, I suppose my principal guideline(s) since changing the previous program, getting to goal weight and staying there indefinitely is <150 net grams of carbs per…

You could rent or borrow one. Note that this actually has been done and does work. They will think you are crazy, ,but this is a good thing.

Do you have a gas powered leaf blower? If you do, bring it in the house, start it up and blow all of his mess into his room or out the door to the street. That might at least get his attention.

Eliminate most processed foods, lose the salt shaker and you'll be fine. Other than for at risk CVD patients, sodium intake is over-rated anyway. It does assist in water retention, but it is an essential dietary element. Don't worry too much about it at your age is my general advice.

Actually, you don't hate exercise. What you don't like is your current perception of your definition of exercise. Semantics I know, but you walk to work. That is great exercise. I lost the weight and stay there and haven't so much as broken into a sprint in quite a while. But I do walk the golf course regularly and have…

There is no way to spot specifically lose weight. If you lose weight overall, you'll lose body fat and muscle mass. So stick with your program and keep losing. To regain or avoid losing muscle and to lose inches in different areas of your body, use a regular strength training regimen. If you stay on that track for 3-6…

It is not supposed to be torture. But the first two weeks are tough. I used grapes, carrots, watermelon, almonds, walnuts and so on to eat between meals. After two or three weeks, I was not hungry between meals. Lose the junky carbs. They are your enemy and are evil. I used to eat half a bag of chips without even thinking…

If you want to lose fat, get your heart rate in the 55-75% of maximum for as much time as you have to do so. Running, walking or whatever you do is irrelevant. It's about the heart rate conditioning zone, and it works. You will burn more fat in this range than you will in the >85% range. If you want to lose fat, do this.

Dust off the gym access card and get back to building muscle. I have lost all the weight and body fat I need to. Now it's time to see if I want to set the bar a little higher, work a little harder at going beyond maintenance. Good luck in all of your goals.

True. Went on a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas from Miami. Ate at the usual cruise level (too much). Burned it all off exercising, but..... the first day back I was hungry, hungry. Once I got back to my normal calorie intake, all the pain went away. You are not alone.

You might wish to look at it as 1 pound to lose 116 times. Might be easier. Good wishes and good luck.

Old you are not, fat you got. I dropped 45 in 9 months, from 215 to 170. Am an inch shorter than you but 17 years older. So as others have said, it can be done. How? Strict intake monitoring to high protein low carb profile. A bunch of activity, some call it exercise. Weight training. Religious devotion to all of the…

Weight Daily with same clothing first thing in the morning. Hips, Neck, Waist for the first 5-6 months, about every 2 weeks. About 4months in I bought a body fat monitor and put that on the same schedule. After I hit goal weight, I now still weigh in daily but do measurements when I get curious, or about every 4 weeks.…

meh. does anyone really get worked up over this stuff. Good job all. Plate of nachos not so great, but hey, who is the judge.People applaud for the losing team too. Is that a bad thing?

Yep. We share this information every day or when relevant.

Good problem to have. I had some pants tailored waist reduced. Was so excited about that. Spent a couple hundred bucks on existing clothing. Then I lost another 20 pounds. So all that was wasted. So decide where you are going to stop losing weight before you forge ahead is my suggestion. Ended up buying new stuff over…

Oatmeal is fine. If you don't like it don't eat it. I ate it every other day for about 6 months. It is a great cholesterol vacuum. Then I decided I wanted more protein so switched to mostly greek yogurt every day. There is no need for discourse.

You look too young for arthritis, although I know it can start at any age. I suggest a hard look at an anti-inflammatory diet. Most times it is just that, inflammation. Omega 3's and so on. Google it and start there. It's not about the running, it's about the intake. I know it has worked for me, and I have a lot more…

95% of the Freshman Fabulous 15 (pounds) is beer, Starbucks and junk food. Stay away from them and you will gain exactly one pound.

Good point. I have been wondering how long I am going to record everything. Coming up on like a year now. Got to goal weight and all the NSV's are all good. Stopped for a month or so doing the gym thing, mostly because of a project that also involves physical work.I am not gaining weight, in fact still just moderating…

My "system" has been to log 50-75% of the time I spend on an activity, depending on how hard I think I have worked. For strength training, I use 50% of the time of circuit training in the database. For walking, I use 75% of the time/calorie value. It seems to work out for weight maintenance, at least it has been for a few…
