  • The GNC line is my favorite. http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3509954 Boyfriend and I have a few different flavors to use depending on what we are mixing it with. http://www.smoothieweb.com/ This site has a ton of recipes to get you started. I like to experiment with different things. Some have been great…
  • As with all medications there are side effects. I never used an IUD but I did take depo shots for a few years and gained a lot. Weight gain is a common side effect with most birth control. Mirena Side Effects (http://berlex.bayerhealthcare.com/html/products/pi/Mirena_PI.pdf)
  • Give it a try and if you don't like it don't eat it. I personally LOVE cottage cheese. I prefer Old Home brand. I used to buy the full fat version. It took some getting used to but I enjoy the Fat Free just was much now.
  • Very well put. I know from experience that if I try to stay in a higher range for too long I will get dizzy. Intervals between 70-80% with short stays into 80-90% give me the best workout. For short 30 minute workouts I have no issue staying around 85% for the most burn in the short time I have. If I have time for more…
  • I too was given 1200 by MFP when I started. I never was able to stick to it. I found this calculator and it has me eating much more. http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ You may lose weight eating 1200, but what is the quality of the weight loss. Most likely some of that weight is muscle, and that is the last…
  • ^This Depending on your fitness level moving into the anaerobic zone can be easier. I know when I first started trying to get back in shape about all I could do and stay below 80% was a fast walk.

  • http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products Lots of choices from Polar. I have a RS100 which works great for me to track calories burned during cardio. It is on the lower end of price in their product line. Comes with a nice comfy chest strap, replaceable batteries in both watch and strap. A HRM is by far the best estimate you…
  • "STOP BEING A F**** IDIOT!" Then I would slap myself. I would also do the same to my 13 yr old self and my 16 yr old self. Those are about the time frames in my life I did some really stupid crap that has impacted my adult life. Teenage girls WOW. So glad I decided to not have kids. I feel so bad for my mom.
  • As others have said, for best estimate of calories burned get a HRM. I have a Polar RS100 it was under $100 at Best Buy. The calories burned on this site and MANY other online calculators are very rough estimates. A HRM will provide a much better estimate since it knows your HR during the entire workout, but even then its…
  • One meal won't cause you to undo all your great work. A cheat meal or day is good once in a while, its called enjoying life. I try to treat myself once every 2 weeks. If you try to remove all the good yummy bad for you food out of our diet for the rest of your life, you won't be very happy. I also intend to forget all…
  • This question may be better suited for the Motivation section. You have posted in the Website Suggestions section meant for provided suggestions for improvements to the website and apps. Also when you do post in the correct section, more details on why you "fall off the wagon" would be very helpful for providing advice…
  • Just goes to further prove that government has little clue on what is wrong. All this will accomplish is less funding for school programs that are already under funded. I sold candy and did bake sales to support my school cheerleading program. It paid for our uniforms, transportation to and from away games, and sports…
  • 1200 is far too low and will result in too much muscle loss. There are many many posts on these forums and others on the internet that will explain why. To sum it up, your body will try to protect it self. Burning muscle instead of fat for energy if you are not consuming enough calories to feed your basic functions. Use…
  • Wear a heart rate monitor to determine calories burned, use any selection you want in the database and overwrite the calories burned. The MFP exercise database grossly over estimates calories burned. Don't trust it! Get a heart rate monitor it will be the best investment you make in getting fit and healthy.
  • A little old school I think. Today's witch would have an iPhone/Android Phone.
  • I grew up Catholic so I guess I have some left over hatred for church, I absolutely hated going to church when I was a kid. Even when I was young I knew what I was being taught was not what was in my heart. My mom never liked it much either but she forced us because if she didn't her parents (who are very devout) would…
  • Your body will adjust if you are eating well (not too much sodium as the previous poster said) and drinking at least 64 oz of water a day, more water would be even better. Also a little trick I use to help my body shed some water weight is to add lemon juice (just lemon juice, no sugar or anything else) to a couple of my…
  • Co-worker peer pressure is the worst. Random Co-Worker: I made <whatever fattening dessert they thought of this week>. Would you like some? Me: Not today thanks. Random Co-Worker: Really? How about just a small piece? Me: No really its ok. Random Co-Worker: Oh ok <makes horrible face like you just killed their childhood…
  • Go for it and get the HRM. It will be the best investment you ever make. MFP is WAY over on the calorie counts for exercise.
  • Farmers Market. Sadly in Minnesota the growing season is very short.
  • I am rather heavy in the chest as well, not overly but enough to have issues when working out. What I do is wear a compression sports bra and a compression tank top. If this is too uncomfortable for you, try either a regular sports bra or a regular shirt with the compression.
  • I have an RS100 so not sure what it means for FT7, but for mine if I have limits turned on it will tell me when I have reached my zone limits to tell me to speed up or slow down. I would give the manual a read a see what Polar has to say on the subject. If you lost your manual, there are ones online at their website.

  • My plan is that once I reach my goal I will continue to log at maintenance for at least 3 months to make sure I don't gain weight back and can stick to the changes I made in my lifestyle. I will then stop logging for 3 months and see if I stay on track. If not, then I return to logging, if so repeat the trial for another 3…
  • Please see my response to your other post. This topic doesn't really fit this section.
  • I was only joking. The border is like a 5-6 hour drive.
  • Hmm time to renew the passport and start shopping up north I guess.
  • Most important part of communication is body language. It all depends.
  • Swimming is a great low impact workout. Good for when you have injuries or when you are sore from intensing training. How many laps for a good workout greatly depends on what stroke I think. I'm not good at many different strokes so I stick with breaststroke and freestyle. Breaststroke is a much slower (and harder IMO)…
