well, ended up doing my 5 on the treadmill today, but that's okay. it passed by quicker than I thought. I averaged a 9:30 pace which is good for me. I know what you mean about the hills. My road is loaded so sometimes I go into town and do my long run on a little flatter surface, although I think that the hills are good…

Well, I did my long run today 8 miles. Felt kinda sluggish at the start but tried to pick up the pace the last half and ended up averaging a 10 min mile for the whole 8 miles! Wow, that is great for me. I guess some of that interval training is paying off. I had my gps app on my phone set, but am having trouble downloading…

Chris, I'm with Victoria, you might try some other running goals before focusing on the half marathon if it's not until next summer. Maybe 4 months out start. As long as your able to do 3 or 4 miles at a time that should be plenty of time. Great job so far though, wow! I wish my mother could get motivated to do something.…

Way to go Victoria on the 10 miles. Wow. I was off Friday and did the elliptical yesterday so today was my 4.5 mile run with some speedwork in there. Actually did the first 3 in 28 minutes even with the slowdowns. Wasn't in the mood for a run today at all, but I was sitting around doing nothing and thought, I could be…

Good job Victoria! 7 miles on the treadmill is not easy, it just seems to go by so slowly. a1schwei- the last time I trained for a half marathon, I actually gained weight. Not a lot, maybe 5 pounds, but still. I did eat more and I think I thought that because I was running so much that I would burn off any extra I ate, not…

Thanks, I will have to try that. I am going to do long run in the am so I might try it out. It will beat driving up and down the road watching the odometer.

I also have not had luck losing weight when running long distances, over 5 miles or so. I have lost some this time, but I am just now getting up over 5 or 6 miles. I am still watching what I eat most days though so I don't gain weight. Lisa, I saw you had a watch on in one of your pictures, is that a GPS watch? I would…

Biked 13 Sat, ran 5 sun and ran 4.5 today for total of Total 22.5. Group total = 511.19

Wow, Lisa, great job on the running. What kind of cross training do you do? I am thinking about adding some Jillian michaels in this week for my strength/cardio. It is a good workout and I think she works about everymuscle I can think of. At least that's what my body tells me the next day, ha ha. I could really tell a…

Victoria, I am sorry you are not feeling good. I hate when that happens. It is like just when you are feeling good, getting in shape, an injury or illness comes along to sabotage you. Take a rest and don't let it get you down. You will be back at it in no time! My sinuses are doing better. I did my long run today and went…

Victoria, Good job on your walk this morning. sounds like you had fun. I went for a run with the baby stroller. We have a park with a half mile track and tennis courts and a playground for the kids, so my older two rode their scooters and played and I jogged with the baby stroller. Not my favorite thing, plus it was around…

I am in. Do you count miles that you do all day with regular activities or just work out miles? Also what about biking miles, I did 8 on Sat. Anyway (without the biking miles) my total for the month so far is 19.5 so that brings us to Group total 244.18miles

Okay, I thought I would pick up the pace a little today on my run, since I cross trained yesterday. I did an easy mile at 10:20 then picked up the pace a little for the rest another 2.5 miles at just under a 9 minute pace. Pretty good for me. Probably the fastest I've run that distance in I can't remember when. Guess I'll…

Wow, great job on the 10K. Sure makes running go by faster when there is nice scenery. I cross trained on the elliptical this morning for 40 minutes. then took the kids for a bike ride this afternoon. Had my 9 and 11 year old ride their bikes and put the baby on the back of mine. We had fun. I went 8 miles, but most of…

Thursdays are supposed to be mile distance day, so I am trying to work up on that. It's the only day I can take the baby to daycare and then go for a run without the stroller or treadmill. Went 5 miles today at 10:30 pace. Felt pretty good. Some hills, but not too steep like around my house and running in town I think…

Well, I haven't been feeling well the last couple of days, so I thought I would just take it easy and walk with the baby stroller, but once I got out there, I ended up running, not running fast, maybe more like a jog. But it was with the stroller, so I must burn a few extra calories going up those hills. Felt okay. Of…

Sure, but do you plan on keeping it off. I think most people who lose weight and keep it off exercise somehow. Doesn't have to be hard exercise, or even everyday. Don't beat yourself up because you can't make it to the gym 5 days a week. I have even walked on my lunch halfhour when I know I was going to get off late or…

When I run on the treadmill I usually cover the distance and time readout. I just set my pace and count songs, like if I want to do 3 miles I will count 7 or 8 songs before I look how far I've gone. Sometimes it is more than I thought and if not, I usually don't have far to go. Like the other day, I was going to do 3 and…

Wow, Marshal, congratulations on your weight loss and running prowess! Ha! Lisa, I am glad to hear some dreading running sometimes, especially on the treadmill. What keeps you on track when you just don't feel like it? I live southern Mississippi so we are hot and humid from the beginning of May until the end of September…

Did 4 miles today on a hilly road and felt pretty good. I was pretty tired at the end but not totally spent. Did it in 42 minutes, which is pretty good for me outside on the hills. I was tired that third mile, but got it back in gear for the last one I think, had a good song come on, plus trying to keep up with my dog, ha!…

pinbotchick, Wow, you sure are doing great with your exercise. I looked at your home page and was impressed with how far you have come! I know what you mean about the treadmill, I assume you didn't misspell that on accident. When I was training for my last half marathon, I had to do some of my long runs inside and it…

Well, I did 4 miles in 39 minutes on the treadmill Monday. I have a little one at home, so I usually workout while he naps. Went farther than I planned, but it felt pretty good and not sore the next day either. No workouts yesterday and had a busy day at work. I am trying not to rush things this time so hopefully I wont…

Lisajuly, I would love to see a picture of you running in your fuzzy viking cap! I think I am going to try this half marathon biz. I like to have something to work for. If I finished in under 2:30 I would feel great, but just jogging the entire distance would make me feel good. I have never run that far without walking…

I have a kindle and an ipod touch. Let me just say I hate itunes and the way the ipod syncs things. Then the laptop I had all my music on crashed and I had a very difficult time figuring out how to sync my ipod without losing all of the music I had on it since when you sync, it erases all of your music and photos and…

Hello, I am in Mississippi, so it is super hot and humid here even until the end of september, but I am interested in doing a half marathon maybe in Nov or December. I had hernia surgery so I was down and out for 6 weeks and am trying to get back with it. I have a 1 year old too to keep track of. Mostly I take him in the…

I know there are a lot of very dedicated people who just eat vegetables, chicken and whole grains, but I am not one of them. I have found it easier to make gradual changes over the past few years. There is almost always a healthier option when eating something, like not eating it at all, but be realistic. If you don't want…
