Re: potassium-I just have 12oz of low sodium vegetable juice (generic V8) to make sure my potassium is where it needs to be. Fun food: double scoop of chocolate protein isolate powder, about 8 ounces of cold water, blend well. Add about 6 ounces of ice, crush well again. Voila! A gigantic chocolate shake, packed with 60 g…

I reward myself every Friday night with food. I weigh in on Friday mornings. If I have been absolutely faithful to my eating plan all week, I allow myself to eat as much of anything I want, for that one meal only. Doing it that way gives me an entire week to get rid of any weight I put on Friday, and to allow any water…

My wife and I do one cheat meal a week, usually Friday night. I allow myself to eat anything and as much of it as I want, for that one meal. It's nearly impossible to eat enough in one sitting to overcome the caloric deficit sustained in a week. It is more of a reward for doing well the rest of the week. Our weigh in day…

As fat loss cannot be targeted by specific body location, it is therefore impossible to correlate with any accuracy a range of weight loss to a clothing size reduction. Just keep working on it, and it will come.
-
Congrats on your success! You guessed it; there's no way to target fat loss from a specific area. Just keep at it!

Possibly you need to recalibrate your definition of "devastating." Things don't hurt us, our opinions about things hurt us. You have no control over how others act or treat you. You have complete control over how you act and treat others. Forget the former, focus on the latter. Best wishes.

You're trying to mix two separate weight loss programs. That's confusing. Pick one or the other. It seems like MFP is easier, so maybe give that one a try. Why make it confusing?

Eight ounces of low sodium generic vegetable juice (generic V8) has 900 mg of potassium, for only 45 calories. I drink two glasses a day.

A friend of mine lost close to 200 lbs doing nothing but videos and MFP. P90X, Insanity, etc. He's maintained it for about five years now.

I've lost 116 lbs in eight months, 52 more to go. Running, tabata, weights. One cheat meal per week, unlimited calories for that meal. Currently just started p90X. Commitment is everything.

I'm 43, and I have personally lost 115 lbs since October of 2011- eight months. I have a few more pounds to go. I have a small amount of excess skin, but it is exactly under there where the remaining fat is. I am pretty sure that the skin is tightening up, the more I lose. I work out a lot, running, P90X, and tabata, along…

When I lost 50 lbs, it was a pair of gaming headphones. When I lost 100 lbs, it was a compact .45 backup pistol. I also did 100 pushups as a celebration. Goal weight, I haven't decided. I will probably buy a car.

We have a gym at work, and I used to go every day after work. A bunch of people started going then, so I switched to lunch time. I can barely fit in a 40 minute run and a shower before I head back to work. Strength training days usually take longer. I heat my food up and eat real quick. Physical fitness is a job…

I'm a male, aged 43. I weighed 368 lbs when I started running (C25K) seven months ago. I was fine, I just monitored my heart rate and pushed myself as much as I possibly could. I weighed in at 261 this morning. If your doc says you can do it, you can do it.

I've lost 94 pounds so far, so, yes. It works. It doesn't happen overnight. It takes time.

In reply to the original poster, reference strength training: You can still do effective strength training at home. Pushups are great. A set of dumbells and a cheap bench can do wonders. You don't need all the crap at the gym.

I don't do one whole day, just one meal. It's worked pretty well for me.

To answer your question, as long as you are doing the right things (eating right, being honest with yourself about what you eat), yes, it WILL happen. Don't think of the whole journey, just think of the next few steps on the journey. Take pleasure in the small milestones. Yes, you can do it, but it requires brutal honesty…

Ice.

I typically consume close to double the protein recommended for me. I'm trying to minimize muscle loss as I lose weight.
-
Six Star Triple Chocolate or Vanilla, or Body Fortress Chocolate. Six Star now has 30 grams protein per scoop. Pretty tasty, too.

The difference is amazing, Ed! Great job, man.

There are far too many variables involved with strength training to be able to enter an accurate formula that would even come close to the calories burned. You can add them manually if you have a calorimeter.

If I have given 100% in the gym all week, and if I have very strictly eaten what I should in the amounts I should, I let myself have a cheat meal on Friday night. I can eat/drink anything I like, as much as I like. As I have lost weight, this has turned less and less from a gorging into just a pleasant departure, allowing…
