I am in the race for th 1/2. I did the Omaha Marathon 10K in September. That was pretty easy for me. I usually run at least 6 miles three times a week. I don't think the 1/2 will be quite as easy but am looking forward to warmer weather so I can get out and work on distance running. I did hit 9 miles a couple weeks after…

I started out slowly. I didn't just wake up one morning and decide I was gonna be a runner. The Army kind of thrust it upon me but it's only been the last 5 or 6 years that I've decided I really like running and this year decided to take it to a new level. Just stick with it! You will surprise yourself!! Created by…

The Lincoln Marathon (1/2 & 10K) will be held on Sunday, May 6th. Here is a link to their site. http://www.lincolnrun.org/races/marathon/ A friend and I are doing it together. Training for it right now is a challenge because of the cold but I've been able to get more this year than last since we haven't had much snow.…

I was never a big breakfast eater either. I love breakfast food, just not a breakfast time. But I started eating something small in the mornings because everything I read regarding weight loss said not to skip it. The biggest reason is that it revs up your metabolism for the day. Skipping breakfast may save you calories,…

Hi there. Congrats on finishing your first 5K! I live here in Omaha and love to run. I did a 10K back in September as part of the Omaha Marathon. Hoping to do a 1/2 marathon at the LIncoln Marathon in May. I'm not usually a competetive runner, run more for fitness and pschy...better than prozac :) I use a treadmill mostly…

I was bad, bad, bad! Ate everything I wanted, in portions I wanted. Traveled voer 1300 miles over between Wed and Sunday so had not time to run. Had two dinners, one of which was prepared by my brother who just finished school to become a chef. Need I say more?? I gorged and drank and drank and gorged. Only gained aobut 4…

This happens to me every time I run. I don't run with any jewelry on because of this. I often clench and unclench my fists while running and this seems to help keep the swelling down some, keeps my hand from becoming tingly. I've never really worried about it as I've read various articles (such as those posted above) that…

or in my case...he gets over 1/2 of everything :(

Sounds like a win-win deal for both of you!! Having someone along side to motivate you is huge. You have made great progresss since joining MFP. Be encouraged by small changes. Over the next few months you'll continue to see small changes then wake up one morning and realize all those small changes cumulated to one BIG…

That is totally awesome!!! Great to see you pushing yourself! Ease into the running though. you don't want to hurt yourself and its easy to get discouraged when you don't progress as fast as you'd like. Just stick with it though. Before you know it you will start noticing your clothes fitting loser and you won't feel so…

Hi there!! Sounds like me. I'm almost 43 and have been through the roller coaster you are talking about. After my third boy, I weighed over 200. I also lost a chunk of it right away but then got stuck at about 160. I'm not quite as tall as you at 5' 6" so I didn't feel like I carried it well. At one point, I did hire a…
