I don't care if you grunt. But if you drop your weights I will mentally bitchslap you.

Consistency is all that matters. Log in every day and track everything you eat. I'd argue that it's almost impossible to fail if you're honest with yourself, you ask for help when you need it, and you stick with it. One day at a time. Read the success stories as "what's possible". If someone else can do it, so can you.

You're lightly active or active. When you track exercise, please only track "deliberate exercise", e.g. if you go to the gym or spend a weekend on a long hike. If you are hiking or walking INSTEAD of going to class and doing all the other walking that would normally form your day, don't log it separately, because you'd be…

These two comments are contradictory. In the first comment, you said hunger wasn't painful for you. That's great. Good for you. But OP says it's painful for her. In the second comment, you said that we all deal with hunger, implying that your physical sensations from diet and exercise are exactly the same as OP's. So which…

Wild dog stew Did anyone else think Rover and Rex looked a little tough, dry, and gamey last night? Here's my recipe for wild dog stew Shoulder or flank of one wild dog, skinned and all bullets removed * 4 cloves fresh garlic, peeled 1 large onion or leek, diced 2-3 stalks celery, chopped 2 tblspn olive oil 2 cups small…

There's no need to be "all or nothing". Add in a little exercise if you want to, or if you want to eat more. Exercise is great, but whatever makes it fun, easy (ish) and sustainable for you is the right answer. Great job, keep it up!

I didn't see this thread before ... Hi, I'm Zarckon ... beginner team Carl. He is such a cutie and so goodhearted despite his messed up childhood. I'm glad they didn't turn him into a "bad kid". I have two boys of my own so I find the Rick/Lori/Carl/Judith storyline kind of heartbreaking. Giving away minutes seems weird to…

No, I do not get a meditative feeling from running. I get a feeling of "wow, this sucks even more than I remembered", which stops when I stop running. I do enjoy the smug, self-satisfied feeling that comes from having worked out while other people sat on their butts :) So there's that. I just hate exercise. But I do it…

My least favorite piece of advice on threads like this is always "find something you enjoy". I've been going to the gym or running, on and off, for 30 YEARS. I still don't like the activity, I only like the results. The only way I get through it is by turning off my brain and numbing the pain with music or movies. In the…

So, I might be sort of like you. I really don't enjoy exercise, though there are some kinds that I hate less than others, and a workout or the feeling of accomplishment can be pretty satisfying. But once I get out of the habit, even for a short time, it's very hard to get back into it. So I tend to be "all or nothing" at…

Thanks for your interesting question. I've never eaten everything I wanted, and I've always done at least some exercise. So if I truly gave up on my weight, ate when I was hungry or something looked yummy, and didn't do any exercise with weight loss in mind, I'd probably weigh over 400 lbs. Maybe more, as my ability to…

Use an app like HappyScale to track your weight daily. Ignore your "measured weights" and pay attention to the "predicted weight", which smooths out fluctuation over time. You're not gaining, you're losing. Keep up the good work!

You already know the answer to this question, so I'm not sure why you're asking.

The other day I went (alone) to a restaurant which is world-famous for its cheesecake. Unfortunately, the serving size is enormous, like literally 5 times as much as I wanted. I ordered it. And ate about 20% of it. And then didn't ask for it to be boxed up, because I ate as much as I cared to and didn't want to carry it…

Also ask your husband to support you by not keeping certain foods in the house, or keeping them out of the kitchen. If he were an alcoholic you wouldn't drink beer in front of him. He can support you in the same way.

Keep it off the counter/out of sight. Don't buy stuff for them that is your personal weakness. I don't buy salty chips for my kids even though they like them and they don't have a weight problem, because I have trouble keeping my hands out of them. I DO buy them packaged cookies and ice cream, because those don't happen to…

If you've lost a clothing size, that's fantastic! You're definitely gaining muscle while losing fat. Have you taken measurements? Try measuring bust-waist-hips each month - maybe you can see results that way if not on the scale. Sadly, you may need to reduce your calorie count to lose. I weigh about the same as you and…

No. I don't tell anyone the number. It sounds absolutely horrifying because I have a lot more muscle than most women. Once my bodyfat is down I will probably be able to say the number.

Please don't restrict calories while pregnant. Eat to your levels of hunger, and try to choose foods with good nutrition: protein, calcium, and vitamins. Stay hydrated. Get plenty of low-impact exercise and sleep. I found that when I was pregnant my appetite almost entirely disappeared. I did gain weight, but not nearly as…

Eat whatever you want as long as you log it honestly and enjoy every bite. You are an adult and you can decide whether to stick with your weight loss goals for the day or take a break. In a few weeks, if you're not losing, you can look back at your diary and at least you'll understand why. That's a huge benefit at that…

I took an aerobics class once in the 80s. I haven't been to a dance/exercise class since. There are people who have 2 left feet. I have at least 5 of them.

The advice above is correct. You don't need to exercise to lose weight. If you eat fewer calories you will shed fat all over. Also, this isn't the right place for this question. Post in the General Diet and Weight Loss forum above.

I do 15 minutes of calisthenics/stretching/body weight most mornings. I don't log it. It's not burning significant calories.

You should lift to failure occasionally. Asking for a spotter is no big deal. Look for someone who's just finished their set and is dicking around with their phone while waiting to recover. Regulars at your gym will almost certainly be happy to help out. Also, if you ever go with a friend, take advantage of them and do…

I feel like we don't really change that much over time. Whatever you liked in high school, that's probably what you'll like now. My suggestion is, why not take one issue at a time? Work on the weight issues first (calorie counting, walking, strength training). And consider getting back into martial arts - ask your local…

Try to save some calories during the day so you can afford a snack at night. If you're hungry, you should eat something.

Welcome back! You did it before and you can do it again. This time you know so much more about your triggers and why you regained ... this time it's for good :)
