  • I guess not really a "problem" per se, just very inconvenient to have to keep getting roomier jeans when I have a closet full already that fit better when I was NOT working out.
  • I add cottage cheese and greek yogurt to my protein shakes all the time :) I agree with the OP, it make a great shake! Adding strawberries makes it taste like cheese cake, seriously.
  • Sounds fine for breakfast, a lot of protein for sure and a good balance of fat and carbs, too. I think it's a great alternative for when you can't cook it at home.
  • Chicken McNuggets are probably one of the most disgusting non-foods in existence. Just remind yourself what you are NOT eating when you don't eat them. You really will not want them anymore. Even my 11 year old will not touch them...he knows whats in them. OTOH, give us some homemade baked chicken tender nuggets any…
  • I don't have any advice for you but {{{{HUGS}}}} I can tell from your post you are going through a lot emotionally over the weight that you want to lose, and I just want to say that I have been there and I understand your feelings. Have you had your thyroid checked? Maybe there is an underlying cause that is preventing you…
  • Salad instead of sandwich for lunch. Lower carbs and calories and extra veggies.
  • Height: 5'3" Age: 30 Weight:120 Calories eaten per day: 1740 Net Calories: 1540 or so, I don't track exercise calories Workouts per week: 5 Heavy Weights: 3x per week. Just finishing up Chalean Extreme and moving on to NROLW Not really trying to lose weight, I really just want to lose fat and gain muscle. I think it's…
  • Thai Coconut Curry Chicken Thighs 326 calories Curried Roasted Cauliflower 50 calories Coconut Mango Sticky Rice for dessert 400 calories (but sooo good)
  • I really don't care for most cardio either. I get bored doing the same thing for 30-40 minutes. I have taken up circuit training where you change up what you're doing every 2-3 minutes. It's so much more fun! I lift too, 3X per week, and it can definitely have a cardio effect on your body depending on what you are doing…
  • I would take a different approach. Rather than try to lose a certain amount by Christmas, because really you cannot control how much weight your body decides to drop, how about make it a goal to work out, improve your eating habits and stick to your calorie goals between now and then. I see so many people who try to set a…
  • If you love them, have them as often as you can fit them into your calorie and macro allowances. They may not be the best ting out there as far as nutrition and food quality, but there are things that are much worse.
  • I think it depends on how you process carbs. If carbs make you bloat, then limiting them may help shrink you middle, if not, then I don't think it make a difference. I like my high protein diet simply because it keep me full and nourishes my muscles when I lift.
  • Meh. I eat breakfast because i am starving when I wake up; I literally feel hollow inside when I get up in the morning. I don't think there is a way to know FOR CERTAIN that everybody NEEDS to eat breakfast to lose weight. As with a lot of weigh loss/diet science it's all conjecture because every single person on this…
  • I know V8 has a lot, but it's gross to me. I eat spinach, dried apricots, skim milk, carnation instant breakfast, chicken breast and pork when I need to get more potassium. I was barely getting any for a while and started to get symptoms of hypokalemia, so it is an important nutrient to track.
  • Mine is open and I eat a lot. Your diary is not open though...
  • Definitely make the bulk of your fruits, veggies and meats what's "on sale" for the week. Then fill in with the the things that you really enjoy or are craving. Check the clearance section in the meat case, the meat is still good, it just needs to be frozen or cooked immediately. If something is at a really good price…
  • That's a great plan! For the first 35 lbs I lost, all I did was walk. I was on the treadmill every day for 30-60 minutes. I don't know if you walk on a treadmill or outside, but inclines (or hills) really help with intensity in walking when you can't run. Walking uphill really will get your heart rate higher. I really…
  • I am the same height as you, and started out 6 years ago at the same weight that you are at now (I was around 25 years old). I had cellulite all the way from my butt to the back of my knees...HATED IT!!! I initially lost about 35 lbs and the cellulite diminished somewhat and it seemed to be higher up on my thighs, but it…
  • Yeah...that's why I stay far away from "dinners" like that. Who knows how people prepare things, what their hygiene is like, or what ingredients they use. I am soooo not willing to risk my health for that kind of stuff.
  • I always have: Eggs Lean breakfast meat of some type Greek yogurt Cottage cheese Boneless skinless chicken ( breast, thighs or tenderloin) Salad greens Almond milk At least a couple of types of fresh fruit Frozen berries Veggies for dinner (whatever is cheap  ) My go to meal is grilled meat plus two veggies and a…
  • Just make your best effort every day to try to change what you don't like about yourself. That's really all you can do, just take it one day at a time and try to be satisfied with it. You can't change everything overnight, but with consistency, you can change your body and your life. Good luck!
  • 3X per week lifting heavy 2X per week cardio-circuit training, kickboxing, etc 1X per week intense, short HIIT-usually treadmill intervals 2X per week core workout 2 rest days It all average out to about 45 minutes per day.
  • I usually allow myself 1 "junk" item per day. It could be a mini candy bar, a homemade baked treat, ice cream, beer, a granola bar etc. I consider junk to be anything that is a) heavily processed or b) devoid all or most nutritional value. I eat things that seem like "treats" but they are nutrient dense so I don't consider…
  • Dried fruit, give me energy and doesn't make me nauseus most of the time. I really need to work out on a near empty stomach.
  • Let's see.... "too fat", "too old", "I will do it tomorrow", "my feet hurt", "I will just eat less instead (starting tomorrow)"... All of these from an obese family member that really needs to lose some weight. It scares the whole family that she will not take charge of her health, but she has to decide to do it and we…
  • Adding extra protein will not cause you to store more fat, even if you are not lifting. Adding extra protein will however, help you to retain your lean mass while eating at a defecit to lose fat. Protein is no more likely to be stored as fat than the carbs or fat that you eat. Go ahead and add more protein, you will feel…
  • I eat a lot lol, and I'm about to start eating more once I start New Rules of Lifting. I don't eat perfectly most days, but I try.
  • Ugggh and whats the deal with eggs, and meat and fruit and....... It sounds like you are just being way too judgmental about what other people eat, and for somebody to have a CLOSED diary and be creeping other people's diaries and complaining about their nutritional choices... Maybe you could use some of that extra…
  • I always just try to get the ones with either the lowest sugar or highest protein. Kashi chewy trail mix bars, Quaker Ancient grains (hard to find), or Nature Valley Protein (SUPER sweet  ). I feel like I may as well just eat a candy bar because most granola bars are so freakin high in sugar anyway.
  • I use Feta instead of other cheeses a lot. It only has 70 calories per oz. I also use less sugar every time I bake something. Spaghetti squash instead of pasta is really good and kind of tastes like pasta when you put sauce on it.
