To clarify, I'm not having shin splints now. I'm just looking to be proactive and prevent getting shin splints in the future. Because they have been a recurring issue in the past, I wanted to get a leg up (no pun intended) on the issue so I can stay healthy and reach my goals.

I did do a proper fitting and got my gait and foot looked at. I got a proper pair of shoes that fit for me... I usually just do maple syrup and cinnamon. I've read some stuff about adding whey protein power to make flavored oatmeal, but, I've yet to try it.

I did a similar thing for a bit, and, the trick I found was incorperate veggies in everything. Morning eggs, stir fry, etc. Literally replace carbs with veggies. Instead of chicken and rice, it'd be a chicken salad.

Generally speaking, 2lbs a week is the "healthy" benchmark. Just a few diet changes and a few days of exercise will hlep a lot and help you reach your goal.
