Btw, diet sodas got me to this weight too. But regular soda REALLY kicked it into overdrive. I had an illness and was off diet soda for a week and realized I hated the taste of them and was no longer used to their awful flavor. They're the worst. Regular sodas are easy to give up. 160 calories for 12 oz's just doesn't seem…

I thought this thread was about music at first. ;) I see your issue. It's times like these that we feel we need something to make us feel better. You're going through a lot of changes. My guess is more success on YOU is gonna make you feel even better about you and your future. Leaving fiancee's, new jobs, etc. are…

My body is mostly water. My brain is like 80% water. (Yours too) And sodas were my BANE. I don't drink them ever unless I'm having alcohol and then very very sparingly. I know I'm supposed to have 8 to 10 or more cups of water a day without exercising. Add exercising and you need more. I didn't switch to milk or juice or…

This question is asked often. Some say yes and some say no. I like the link above. However, I don't usually eat my extra calories. I think the most I've ever done is eat 200 - 300 of them. It's nice to know I can eat them if I want to. I feel healthy as a horse compared to just 2 1/2 months ago. I don't feel like I can do…

No, I eat that same O.R. Smartpop 94% fat free. And it's only about 15 calories per cup once popped. But the bags hold 7.5 cups. 113 calories for the whole bag. This is what I came up with too.

I never eat at Dominoes but I saw the Dominoes ads. And thank you for showing me how to block those. :) Dominoes is last on the list because there pizza isn't even as good as Tombstone Pizza from the store. And we have much better pizza places in town than "chains". I avoid chains like the plague. And I can because we have…

Mmm. Soup is good for you! :) I often mix it with salad. What a great combo!

Another great point!!

I think there is a natural bio-rhythm at work that teeters up and down throughout the course of the day and week. I only weigh myself occasionally and only log it once a week. And I never second guess myself. I know which way the wind is blowing. In fact I'm taking all my mental focus and directing it in this direction so…

In order to lose the weight that we have we got away from the pack. "The pack" doesn't make the best decisions. Not about anything. It's when we get off by ourselves that we usually make the best decisions. In this case, we get off by ourselves together but only to a point. My weight loss is not contingent on other people…

I do not eat hardly any of my exercise calories. Nope. My goal has always been 1500 calories or less but never lower than 1200. There are occasions, usually 1 day, where I do eat up those calories. It's usually a day where a friend has a gathering or I'm going out to eat on those rare occasions. I not only avoid soda and…

Seems like to maintain the benefits you have to keep doing insanity for ever.....just like any other exercise. Muscles turn to flab if you stop exercising right? Well, it seems that someone who does Insanity permanently would be in pretty darn good shape. I know some people want to become at least athletes or perhaps even…

I, for one, love gyros. It won't be long and I'll be making them here at the house too. We used to have a place downtown called Ted's Greek Corner and it was delicious!! I just try to keep things in proportion to other things and include as much healthy options as I possibly can. I'd check the sauce though to see how many…

Perfect! Thanks!!

You're on the right track!! Eventually I'll be able at my target weight and according to this website I'll be able to have approx. 2,100 calories per day or so to stay at that weight. But I'm not going to over-feed myself as I did in the past. I like my new habits and anyone can see that they're having a positive effect on…

Limiting your calorie intake only stops working if you stop doing it. I fill all 1500 calories with things I think are within reason. And it's working. I don't try to fool myself into thinking this is a short-term solution for me. It's a lot easier to go for a walk at 165 lbs than 308 lbs if you ask me. (That's referring…

I'm told that you hit plateau's over and over again where it appears you're not losing for awhile. Moderate exercise (3 to 5 times a week) will get you more results than light exercise or no exercise. Women seem to lose less than men in the same time period. Or so it has been with my wife and I. I eat good foods 95% or…

I'd suggest getting really good at eye-balling your meals. I've become quite good and it. I try not to over think this. Now, in my case I've already had some success and my friends are already congratulating me about it as if I'd already lost it all. This just goes to show how much 40 lbs really is I guess. I see your…

Welcome!! This website is great and just another thing I can add to my OCD success list. ;) Now, I can't wait very long at all to go log my calories after a meal. But it's quick and easy and requires very little time per day. I'm pretty new myself. And I found what works for me. I'm sure you'll do just the same. And feel…

One issue that I've had in the past is when I workout a lot in the gym eventually it becomes a chore and if you ever stop doing the gym you seem to gain it all back and then some. You gotta use it or it turns to flab it seems. Okay, so I picked something I didn't get bored with that I can keep doing forever foreseeable. Do…

I confess that I don't really miss much of the food that is bad for me. Good riddance! Apparently, moderation wasn't an option for me with certain foods and so I had to remove them.

It can be done!

The Wii Fit Plus doesn't clock that many calories. I certainly don't think it's over-clocking. What seemed to clock a bunch of calories burned was MFP's website information for that. But i've learned not to rely on that. An HRM works for people who acclimate to it well. Some people even have negative effects from it by…

Awesome! Now, that you've hit your goal weight, my thinking is that you can now up your calories slightly to an amount that keeps you at that weight? That's probably a new challenge in and of itself. The most important one of all. Obviously, by now you realize that this was a lifestyle change as opposed to a diet. Many…

All of my research tells me the same thing. 1200 is bare minimum for anyone. If you wanted to hit 1200 you might set your goal at 1250 or 1300 instead. I don't know if this is correct or not but I often stay in a 1210 to 1550 range with my calories and any exercise I only take advantage of a small buffer if needed…

Interesting. These polars go for about $60 to $100 from what I'm seeing online. Determining which one to get is key.

For me it's all about tricking the mind into thinking it's having fun. And I found out today that going top speed isn't as beneficial as totally relaxing first and going at a slightly slower speed. The harder you work each workout the harder it might be to come in the next time. Even if it is just the rest of this week.…

Accept you back? I'm quite sure you'll have no issues there. :) I had to look up what TFR meant. I didn't know. Back on June 30th I started on the Opti-fast program (Expensive!!) I was having the 4 shakes and 1 meal in the evening for 1200 calories version. By the 4th day I was so physically ill I couldn't stand it…
