I love it! I'm on day 13 and I've lost 2.5 pounds (as of monday) and several inches. I also run (have been before Insanity so I'm sure that helped but still!) I'd say it's worth it.

I find that if I run with a friend who is considerably slower then I am then my legs hurt. I've had runner friends say the same. I don't run based on my heart rate though so not sure about that.

Have you tried compression socks? I don't wear them but my friend does and she said it helps her. Or what about your shoes? How many miles do you have on your current pair? I had shin splints pretty bad but I had old shoes. Since I've gotten my newer pair I've been shin splint free.

Hal Higdon's is the best! I've used that program a few times. For half marathons and my marathon. I'm currently doing the Novice 2 for the half marathon (mine is April 28th!) Good luck on your training!
