I totally agree and I really don't understand why people think they are so high in sodium. If you put sauce on a bowl of pasta, you get more sodium than in most Lean Cuisines! On the other hand, they are highly processed. I love them in a pinch though.

I used to love those too, but you are right - SO salty. And when I would add them to pasta and THEN add sauce. Yowsa'. Way too much. It always left me so bloated. I just stopped using that stuff, and I used tofu instead. I have since gone back to meat, so it's not as much of an issue.

I am also recovering from BED. Therapy has helped me in many ways, but it has not helped with my recovery. We are all different, though. I know why therapy didn't help me, and I accept that I will need to continue to explore other options/avenues for recovery. I think that in order to recover, we have to completely change…

sugar alcohols + inulin + tons o' fiber = ouch

I loathe the term "thigh gap." Woot to 8000!

I didn't read this whole thread, but I did see a dietician, for help with creating a meal plan. My insurance covered it, but it would have cost me $100. It was more about nutritional counseling. She basically gave me a meal plan that had food categories: For breakfast: a piece of fruit, a protein, a starch, a milk, and a…

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It just plain sucks. Here are some answers to your questions. What are your triggers? Sugar, evenings (I tend to binge at night), being alone, grazing/snacking (I tend to go on momentum, once I start mindlessly grazing). When do you get triggered? Only evenings, and when I'm left alone…

Been there. I really relate. If you truly feel, deep down, that you absolutely cannot afford to get help (meaning, you truly WANT it, and you aren't using finances or something else as an excuse to stay in your ED), then would you consider attending OA meetings? It's not for everyone, but perhaps it would give you some…

Yep. Exactly. "Safe foods" is an eating disorder term...

oops. double post.

I can't stop making crustless quiches! Today i made 2 smoked turkey and spinach crustless quiches... Mmmmm. So good! Last week it was broccoli and cheese. So healthy and so delicious. My family doesn't eat cheese, so I get the whole thing to myself!

Obviously no one here is going to be able to "diagnose" you, but I am wondering if you think the fainting and the cramping were related, or if you think the fainting may have been because you jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom, or if you may have panicked?? A year ago, my son (he's 3) woke up in the middle of the…

I have struggled with eating disorders for almost 20 years, and the one thing that helped me feel READY to recover, was when I realized that I hated binge eating, more than I loved it. Yes, I enjoyed the food and enjoyed the eating, but I hated it even more, for how it made me feel, inside and out. How often are you binge…

Why 72 grams of carbs? Like, where does that number come from?

I am lactose intolerant also, and Lactaid does not seem to work for me consistently. I'm not sure why, but sometimes it works better than others. I find that it's much worse when I eat dairy on an empty stomach. Also, Lactaid does NOT work for me, when it comes to a cup of actual milk. I just can't tolerate that, no matter…

Open your diary, and maybe we can help you come up with other ideas! Also, what type of protein powder do you use?
-
Exactly.

Wait - you're telling me that an Arby's RB sandwich is only 350mg of sodium? I can't even fathom that. Cold cuts are usually way higher than that.

Hey there. So sorry you are dealing with depression. I also deal with it, and I take meds, which help. I find that the meds tend to make me a bit apathetic, so I don't always care about eating healthy and exercising. The best thing for me, is to suck it up, and just take action, and DO what I need to do, to reach my goals.…

It's the chicory root/inulin. That stuff is evil.

Is your food diary accurate? If so, you are really not eating enough... Also, I notice you barely eat any snacks. I think that's totally fine (even great), but some people get bloated when they have big meals. Would you consider eating small meals throughout the day, instead of 3 big meals? I have stomach issues, and I do…

Are you hungry, or do you just WANT to nibble?
-
Could it be dairy? Lactose intolerance can cause that, if you are eating a dinner that has lots of cheese.

I'm a firm believer in NOT eating things I don't like. When I eat foods I don't like, just because they are healthy, it's a set up for overeating (I eat something I hate, and then I want to eat a gallon of ice cream, because I subconsciously feel I "deserve" something I like). You can still lose weight without eating…

The idea is that you are supposed to get used to "normal food" in smaller portion sizes. I do think it works for some people. Others don't learn from it, and go back to old habits after the "diet" is over. It IS a diet. It can't possibly be a lifestyle, but some people don't want a lifestyle, and they DO want "just a…

Well, I get what you're saying, but most of us could eat whatever we wanted and stay within our calorie goal, if we had 3000 calories to work with... but many of us have much lower calorie goals.

I am so on the fence about this. On the one hand, I feel like moderation is absolutely key to not feeling deprived. On the other hand, I know that every time i eat sugar, I end up at least WANTING to eat everything that's not nailed down. One day, I think I should never eat sugar again. The next day, I'm telling myself I…

My father is an exercise bulimic. He modeled extreme anxiety and rigidity around food, followed by massive binge eating. I do not blame him for my issues with food and weight, but I am sure growing up around eating disorders, did not help me. I take full responsibility for my relationship with food, as I am an adult with…
