I can relate!!! One of my larger bathing suit tops is strapless. Never had a problem with it last year, but I went swimming recently and didn't think I'd lost enough to make sure the top still fit. EVERY TIME I JUMPED UP it fell down! I had to quit the game of monkey in the middle and cower in the corner. I hope I didn't…

I have a polar with a chest strap and I don't find the strap at all weird or uncomfortable. Then again, I'm a girl and I'm used to wearing bras all day. It might be different for a dude. All that aside, the chest strap is soft and comfortable.

I only log what I specifically do to burn calories. If it's just part of my day at work or whatever, nope. I figure that's just included in ordinary daily needs. If I didn't breathe hard or sweat for more than 20 minutes, forget it. I'd think about logging sex if it took as long as my cardio workouts. Since it doesn't,…

It's kind of silly how complicated we like to make our diets. Yes, it's a good idea to eat less processed food and to eat in a balanced way and to exercise more and to gain strength. All of this is good advice for health. Health often results automatically in weight loss because in doing these things we also reduce calorie…

Hypo means your thyroid naturally underperforms. An underperforming thyroid means you will gain weight more easily. TAKE YOUR MEDICINE. Your medicine is there to replace the hormones your thyroid is not putting into your body and will make it easier for you to lose weight like a healthy person would. TAKE YOUR MEDICINE. I…

Exercise is awesome across the board. Increased rate of fat loss, strength gains, healthier organs, healthier mind. I recommend it! But no, you don't have to do it to lose the pounds.

Wow, what a drastic change! Congratulations!

I've never been bigger than overweight BMI, at one point slightly obese, and I feel lucky that I've escaped most of these terrible comments it seems like people are capable of dishing out, BUT there've been a few hurtful things: * Ex-husband looking at pictures from when I was 18, saying, "I miss your cute body, I cry when…

Probably the least confusing method of losing weight is going to fitnessfrog.com and finding your TDEE. TDEE includes the amount you plan to exercise, so if you do this method, don't eat back normal exercise calories. Only eat back if you exercise above and beyond your normal planned amount. Once you know your TDEE,…

Wow, my TDEE is only a little more than that. I wouldn't lose an ounce!

I'm a girl in the IT field. I just want to be able to drag parts around with the same ease as my coworkers :)

Nothing wrong with going over a bit on protein. And yes, you can adjust the numbers at the bottom. Home/Goals/Change Goals/Custom.

Fruit is good for you, but as far as good food goes, it's the least good. Cut it back to 1-2 servings a day while you're trying to lose weight. Also, don't worry as much. If you go over 1200 and it's on fruit, that's not the worst sin to sin. Half a banana is probably better.

Overall, you will lose weight if you burn more than you eat. So yes, you can eat 1200 and be fine. However, if you're concerned about feeling too hungry, or really you just don't like the idea of that much restriction (many don't, and you do not have to restrict that hard to lose weight!), I suggest finding your TDEE on…

I bought a $4 omelet maker on Amazon a while back. Best bang for the buck EVER. Basically, you pour your egg mix in there, whether it's real and mixed up with your ingredients or egg whites or egg substitute (I use substitute), then you close it and nuke it for 1 min 30 seconds. Fastest, easiest omelet EVER. I put a wedge…

You will hear a lot of dieters telling you not to eat below your BMR. I won't tell you one way or the other, BECAUSE: Weight loss in general is simple math. If you sit on your butt all day long and eat 500 fewer calories than you burned sitting on your butt all day long, you will lose a pound a week, all other things being…

I eat 1200, and sometimes less, but I'm a short short lady and my TDEE is pretty low to start with. Even I was pretty hungry in the first couple of weeks, but it was manageable hunger. So if it isn't working for you, find your TDEE (fitnessfrog.com, calculators) and subtract 500 to start. That's a pound a week, which is…

I found I was really hungry in the first week or two, but after that I was more used to it and only a tolerable level of hungry within the hour before I am supposed to eat again. No big. You just get mentally and physically used to a certain amount of calories and your body signals for what it's used to getting, at least…

My TDEE is 1850ish. Since TDEE takes into account your planned exercise, I do not eat back exercise calories. If I lose 1 pound a week, that's 1350. If I want to lose 2, 850. As such, I do not think 1200 is unreasonable or boggling in any way. Maybe for someone with a much higher TDEE, I suppose?

I can tell you as someone who works in IT that many people inherently resist change. I don't think anybody consciously sets out to sabotage their family and friends at dieting, I think they just see the coming change and have a knee-jerk reaction of nooooo I like things the way they are because it works for meeeee. If you…

You should still warm up before lifting, though, right? I read that going in cold can make it easier to injure yourself. LOL but I am absolutely not an expert.

Congratulations! You are pear-shaped. This is a beautiful shape that I share. You cannot specifically lose weight or inches in a certain area. Your genes determine where your fat is stored first and where it comes off last. I have lost about the same amount. 2.5 inches in the waist, and I don't even know how much up top…

I found some of the Slim Fast shakes really tasty, but I personally wouldn't do more than one a day for a meal. They are FULL of sugar. So much sugar ><

If you feel good and not hungry, it's probably not that big of a deal. Keep an eye on it though, and make sure you know why you're going that low. Are you getting enough protein to support muscle repair after work outs? The lower you go, the harder that is. 1200 is a pretty arbitrary number, and I often eat 1000 myself on…

If you are sticking to 1200 and exercising on top of that and you're not feeling good and it makes you want to quit, you should definitely eat some exercise calories back. If you're worried about eating them back, start with eating half back for a week, see if you feel better.

OMG yes to the cottage cheese! <3 <3 <3 I know not everyone loves it. Greek yogurt is a good sub if you're not a cottage cheese fan. I dunno about that though, it's so delicious to me!

Just one mathematical correction to the post above mine. 500 calories times 7 days is 3500 calories which = 1 pound, not 2.
