  • I have knocked knees.... always have and they have never bothered me. I have been running for the past 2 years but was always active before that too. No one has ever noticed but my knees touch and ankles don't unless I have my legs bent at an angle. Sorry this wasn't much help.
  • Awesome!! Great job!!
  • At least you are moving!!
  • It probably took me about 9 months to really love running. I enjoyed and loved the benefits. I loved the "me" time listening to my music and I loved how I felt after I was done running. I loved the way my body felt better and more toned and I was starting to "look" different.
  • I would say it depends on how you feel. If the antibiotics are kicking in and you are feeling fine, go ahead and run. If not, then don't. Personally I would probably wait and see how you feel tomorrow. Your body needs to rest when you are sick.
  • I am a success story! Finished C25K 2 years ago and am now training for my second half marathon. Listen to your body. I stuck to the 3 times a week. I have since added, but it was a good start for me.
  • I am training for my second in May... I do 3- 4 runs a week. Two - Three of them are 4-6 miles with my 3rd or 4th run being a long run. I found a plan on marathonrookie.com and made it my own.
  • Awesome job on the 7 miles! Today was a 7 mile day for me too.
  • Just keep going. I never had to repeat any weeks. It is completely okay if you want to repeat weeks. I had decided that if I could do day 1 of the next week, I was good to go. For me, it was more of a mind game.
  • I haven't run the course before a race. One race I did was 8 hours from where I lived and the other races, it just didn't work out in my schedule. Some people do run the course before the actual race. I don't see anything wrong with it. Usually I try to look at the elevation chart to make sure my training is appropriate.…
  • Which ever one you enjoy! Running is easier for me for now... come summer though I will be doing plenty of both!
  • I use runtastic. It's just as accurate as my garmin as far as distances go.

  • Feel free to add me...also a runner and mom of 3.
  • Feel free to add me... mom of 3 boys. My starting weight on MFP was 143 and my goal is 130.
  • I also have never done intervals even though I have heard they do help to increase speed. My speed has improved with time. As I began to run longer distances, my shorter ones became faster. After I ran a 10k I noticed a huge improvement in my 5k time. Since running a half marathon, my 10k has improved greatly. I was…
  • Are you doing measurements to make sure you are really not losing inches. The way I lose weight, I have a hard time telling that I look different. I tend to lose it all over - very proportionally. So I don't ever "feel" like I look different. When I started taking measurements, I could see progress more easily.
  • I have a weight watchers digital scale that works well. It's usually close to what my doctor's office is. I think it was around 20 ish dollars.
  • I did C25k a couple of years ago and was a total non runner. I was not terribly overweight - probably had about 10 to lose. It took about 9 months for me to really like running. However what kept me going were the milestones I was hitting and I wanted to see what I could do next. For example, the week that I ran 5 minutes…

  • I used marathon rookie's half marathon training as well... I wished I had done the whole 13 miles before the race. I had only done 12. I also wished that I had trained more for the elevation. My first half back in October was really hilly... by mile 10 when I hit the last hill, I remember thinking WTH!!! I will be doing…
  • I used the runners world link that someone already posted. I had done a pretty good job of deciding the type of shoe I needed. The only thing I did wrong was the size. I am one of those that needs to go a whole size bigger instead of just a half size bigger. I imagine someone at Olympia Sports could help you with that. The…
  • It sounds like you need a new pair of shoes  My knees were bothering me earlier in the fall.. new shoes and I was fine.
  • I would get fitted for shoes at a good athletic shoe store. Once I was fitted and wearing a proper size( I had a half size too small - even after I went up a half size from my original) and stability I have been fine.
  • I ran my first half in October and I cut back some. The only thing I have changed is my long run. I cut that back to 6 miles. I am running another half in May, so we will see how I do. I figured with running 6 miles, I am 2 weeks to feeling comfortable for a 15k and 6-8 weeks from a half.
  • I prefer running outside, but I like to run during the daytime. My neighborhood is really dark and there are narrow roads where neighbors drive too fast on. I don't feel comfortable running in the dark. I do slow down to pass people - just enough to make sure I can pass safely. I was never worried about how I looked while…
  • Okay.. runtastic for me runs pretty close with my garmin. I agree though - it sounds high. For the most part they all use mathematical formulas... I found this website http://easycalculation.com/health/heart-rate-calorie-burn.php So if you put in your heart rate and time, it will give you an approximation of how many…
  • Double check to make sure that your personal information is correct in runtastic. It seemed mine was way high and I checked and my weight was really off. I am not sure if on a sync with my phone if my weight went back to the default setting or what. Map my run could have the same issue - I am not familiar with it.
  • Weight loss is a journey, not something that is quick. I can eat at some restaurants and be up as much as 5 pounds the next day. I know I didn't truly gain 5 pounds. Usually by the end of the week, its gone and I am fine. Don't give up. That one pound could have been 5 pounds if you were not tracking. I am a person who…
  • My husband is king of saying things he shouldn't and quite honestly I truly believe its because he is clueless. Never the less, years ago when my husband or anyone for that matter would question what I could or couldn't eat because of being on weight watchers, I would politely tell them this is not a diet but a lifestyle…
  • I started the C25K program for the sole purpose of not getting too bored on the treadmill. When I ran for 5 minutes without stopping, I wanted to see how much further I could go. I took it outside because I really do hate the treadmill :-) I love it now! Will be running my second half and second 15k this spring and summer.
  • I am excited that you got into the Boilermaker. I cannot believe how fast it closed. I am running the 15k again this year. I suggest c25k. I started that 2 years ago this month(probably the only new year's resolution I kept) and have worked my way up to a half marathon. The 5k part is a nice part - not too hilly, so a good…
