  • I change mine every 300 miles or so. When my knees start hurting is when I know I need to change them. This website might help you out. http://www.aapsm.org/replace_shoes.html
  • I consider a long run to be anything over 6 miles. I am working on always being ready to run a half marathon.
  • I am new to this challenge, but would like to join for November. My goal for the month is 65.
  • Feel free to add me too. I will be running in the Marine Corp Marathon this weekend. It's my first and probably only marathon. 15k is my favorite distance, but do halfs as well.
  • If I am doing more than just walking, I do use my HRM. I just use my HRM that came with my forerunner.
  • Great job!!

  • I just started wearing this, but so far for 2 of my runs, it seems to do well : the champion show off bra. It is a max support bra. I like that you can adjust the shoulder straps. http://www.championusa.com/workout-clothes/women/sports-bras/bestselling-bras-85063--1/champion-the-show-off-sports-bra# I did find them on sale…
  • I really like my vivofit. I already had a garmin connect account from using my forerunner, so that is why picked the vivofit. I don't seem to have issues with mfp syncing. Sometimes it syncs weird and gives me weird calories, but then takes them away, so in the end it balances out and is fine. I never had a fit bit or…
  • Great job!! It's the best feeling in the world to accomplish something you never thought you could! I was dancing around last week after my longest run ever - people probably thought I was crazy! :-)

  • Feel free to add me. I have been a bit quiet the past week or so as back to school has been crazy! Currently training for my first full marathon. I have run a few halfs...
  • It works fine for me. I have the FR 620. There have been several updates to the app this summer, have you received them? Like a previous poster, the messages garmin connect sends can be a bit weird, but the overall calories are correct. I also have a vivofit that works fine as well.
  • I will be running my first full marathon in October. Goal is to complete it - I am hoping for a 4:30 finish. So far I am doing okay with training - which is good since I hate running in the summer!
  • I did some of these stretches: http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Shin-Splints-by-Stretching and from this site: http://www.self.com/flash/fitness-blog/2011/05/4-shin-splint-solutions-and-st/ I found the elliptical to be good while I had the shin splints. I also like bicycling and swimming (my shin splints happened in February…
  • I haven't been logging my activity into MFP. When I run,I use my HRM with the vivofit. It seems to do a pretty good job of calculating calories, so when I sync the vivofit, it adjusts my calories just fine. I also wear my garmin 620 when I run, and double check my calories burned on that just to make sure.
  • Glad to hear this as I am using Hal Higdon's novice 1 for my first marathon. Feel free to add me - currently training for a full, but have done a few halfs, few 15ks, few 10ks, and many, many 5ks. Shin splints that I had earlier in the year were because of my shoes, so hopefully the new shoes will help you out.
  • I bought a pair from roadrunner sports. http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/RRL1017/womens-rgear-high-five-pocket-5-short/ I also like these because they are a bit longer than regular shorts. They are a bit pricey - but I love them. I am also going to be getting a spibelt too. I ran with a friend's and loved it as…
  • Maybe start around week 4 or so. I had a hard time transitioning from treadmill to outside and had to redo some of the weeks outside even though I was finished with the program. I think I started around week 4. I knew that I could run 10 minutes comfortably and started there. If that is too hard, go back a week. If you…
  • I was a total nonrunner and completed C25k program. Some days were hard, however, I could do the next day, I kept going. I have since done several half marathons and am currently training for a full marathon. For me, it was mostly a mind game. I had to convince myself that I could do it. Don't be afraid to slow down. I…
  • I just checked and it seems to be working ok today. I was thinking it might take a couple of days to get all the kinks worked out. Thanks for asking!!
  • It didn't work for me either. I use the default meal names on MFP. Garmin was able to import my the calories that I have set up in MFP, but nothing else.
  • Awesome!! Great job!!
  • Definitely check with a doctor, but it might just be the shoes. Since your body has changed, you might need new shoes too.
  • Feel free to friend me. I am currently training for my first marathon. The hydration became easier for me. I would need to hydrate often during a run. I ended up putting a water bottle on my driveway or used a camelbak on longer runs. Now, I don't have to do that as often. Only on my 9 plus mile long runs. (or 6 miles…

  • I used ease into 5k a few years ago. I think for the most part they are all the same. I happened to like the look of the app and it was cheap. :-)
  • I have decided with marathon training I was just going to have the goal to maintain my weight. I was going to change it to that setting when I start training in a few weeks. I can let you know how it goes :-)
  • When I was increasing my distance, I took one of my runs a week( I usually run 3-4 times a week) and added about 1.5 km or about 10 minutes onto it until I reached the distance I was training for. My other runs are 5-6km . Some people swear by doing speed work. I found what increased my speed was running consistently 3-4…
  • I used the following stretches to help my shin splints. http://www.self.com/blogs/flash/2011/05/4-shin-splint-solutions-and-st.html Also, make sure you are wearing proper shoes. I ended up tracing mine back to the shoes I was wearing. This may also help you out too: http://www.runnersworld.com/tag/shin-splints Good luck!
  • I have done 12 for my last long run. This past half I did 11 and was fine. Good Luck!!! Enjoy it!!
  • Feel free to add me... I have been running for 4 years..
