  • I would try running outside sometime this week. Running on the treadmill is very different from running outside. Good Luck!!
  • April 1: Ran 4.66 miles April 3: Ran 8 miles April 6 : Ran 3.3 miles April 9: Ran 3.3 miles April 12: Ran 4.26 23.52/100 Well, probably won't hit a 100, but once I get a bicycle, I will be cycling with my boys(in addition to my running) and will be able to get more miles that way!
  • I have a garmin 405 with the HRM. I love it. I like that I can download my runs and keep track of my running. If you are not looking for a HRM, I used runtastic on my iphone. There are many apps out there for gps - once upon a time runtastic was a free app of the day which is why I have it :-)

  • I second the couch to 5 k. I was a non runner and it made me a runner! Some people take it slow and do each week twice and all shapes and sizes have used it. You can do it!
  • Opps missed a couple of questions.. Last year I did 3 5ks. This year so far I have done 1 5k, and am training for a 15k. I might venture to a half marathon in the fall. I find that doing some races helps keep me motivated to run. I am also trying to vary my runs. Some are flat and I do try to do some hills on other days.…
  • I try and go three times a week - I do a short (30 minutes), medium (45-60 minutes) and a long (60-90 minutes). I am trying to build up to 90 minutes (approximately a 15k). I am up to 80 minutes on my long run. Some weeks are better than others. I try to stick around a 10 minute mile. Do what you want to do and what is…
  • April 6 : Ran 3.3 miles 15.96/100
  • My first 5k time was 31 minutes, my second was 28:18, my third was 32 minutes, and my most recent was 28:48. If I am only running a 5k I can do between a 9 and 9:30 minute mile. If I know I am running further, I do between a 10 and 10:30 minute mile. Don't compare yourself to anyone else. Run your race. :-)
  • My toes were hurting me when I hit the 4.5 mile mark... While I am not a wide foot person, I am a little wider than normal. I also needed to get a whole size bigger than I normally wear. I had originally bought half a size bigger. Once I got a different size, I have been fine.
  • Your welcome!

  • I did c25k on the treadmill and outside. I started it on the treadmill during a rough winter. I almost finished it and then tried running outside - epic FAIL! Treadmill running is so different than outside running. I backtracked to week 5 or 6 when I began running outside and did fine. I can now almost run for an hour and…

  • About what I weigh now - 137...Looking to get down to 130 (I am 5'2") I think I look better now - leaner and I know I am in much better shape than I was when in high school. My heaviest not pregnant was 165.
  • April 3: Ran 8 miles 86.34 to go...
  • I'm in... April 1: Ran 4.66 miles 94.34 to go...
  • I just started adding 15 minutes to my run times and was able to get to a 10 k pretty easily. I debated getting the 10 k app however my ease into 5k app has an hour run programmed into it. Now just to get myself to a 15 k by summer.
  • That is great! I have been running a little over a year and am doing a 15 k this summer... depending on how that goes maybe a half marathon in october... Feel free to add me as a friend!
  • I found pants I like at roadrunnersports.com They are pricey however I have the run/walk/play pant. They are flared at the bottom. I don't mind that... They wick really well. There are tons of pants/capri's/tights on their website. Good luck!
  • Not a silly question at all... I remember asking the lady when I picked up my packet at my first 5 k the same question. On the front - belly area. Most of the 5k races I have done take the tab thing at the bottom of the number as you cross the finish line. I am pretty sure even the 5k that was chip timed did this. When is…
  • I had a friend who did 2 weeks in one and aerobically she was fine. She was very active anyway. However she ended up hurting her leg - don't know if it was because she did too much too fast or if she needed better shoes. And now she can't run anymore. I would be careful with doing too much too fast. Were you thinking of…
  • Couch to 5 k is great. I used it and now can run an hour and working my way up to an hour and a half. Get fitted for shoes. I ended up fitting myself in a pair that were too small for running. I was starting to have foot pain when I ran more than 4.5 miles. Now I don't.
  • I just got a garmin forerunner 405 for Christmas. I love it! It is very accurate. I also have the heart rate monitor with it. The touch bezel takes some getting used to. Overall though it is a good product!
  • I also highly recommend the ease into 5k app. I was a total non runner when I started a year ago. I started on my treadmill and almost finished the training before I ran outside. Treadmill running and running outside are two different things :-) I had to go back to week 6 when I started running outside. I am running a 15k…
  • Feel free to add me to!
  • I sent you a request... I am a teacher too and have three boys.
