  • @Shanaber I don't have the hydration pack yet but expect to use mine for anything longer than 30-45 minutes or so, especially as it warms up. So far, we've just been carrying a regular backpack with water bottles and collapsible bowls like the one @mbaker566 linked.
  • @ContraryMary - Congrats on your 10k PR! @MegaMooseEsq - Congrats on your 5k PR! You did great! Thanks for the pictures, too. They remind me of 'home'... I never lived in MSP but was sort of nearby (on a farm outside River Falls, WI... decades ago!), and still have lots of family in the area. I need to go back to visit.…
  • Slept in again, so wonderful. Had a banana then took the dogs for just over 4.5 miles walk, with a stop at the vet's office to check in on their weight. The both need to lose a little - just like me! It was really nice to have an hour and a half outside with them, in the sun. Now I think I'll try to convince my husband to…
  • Excellent options. Thank you!
  • @PastorVincent Is there room in the side zipper pocket of your Wunjo for a smartphone? Mine measures 6.2" x 3.2" and need to make sure that will fit. I just bought a hydration backpack from REI yesterday but that was $100. The Wunjo's cheaper - and they're having a Spring Sale for 25% off! If it fits my phone, I think…
  • Ditto! As for me, yesterday had a run on the schedule but I am still taking it easy due to calf/achilles issues. Instead, I took the opportunity to sleep in. I did my daily heel drop exercises and foam rolled/stretched a little last night, but not much. This morning I took the dogs for a walk and may or may not have run…
  • Walked the dogs this morning before work, then went 9.5 miles on the bike after work. Also did 3 sets of 15 reps eccentric heel drops... both straight and bent leg... three times throughout the day (270 total).
  • Plan called for 2 miles this morning. I started out a little fast so slowed down for mile in the middle, but at 1.5 miles I was warmed up and the last half mile was the almost as fast as the first. Overall, this was more like an easy-medium run. Lots of stretching done afterward, though I need more...
  • Strength and stretch day for me. Lunges, pushups, rows and a plank... myrtl routine, foam rolling and stretches. I am Finally working on consistency in all the things.
  • @Lazy_Bones_85 I am sorry for your loss. That picture is adorable.
  • Congrats to all who raced this weekend! @workaholic_nurse Yikes! That looks and sounds like a horrible wreck. I hope you don't feel too beat up today, and your injuries heal quickly. Sorry about the car (and cows) though.
  • I'm resting to prevent (further?) injury to my left calf/achilles, so I didn't run on Friday as planned. That was a full rest day. Yesterday I walked one dog in my old Merrell trail glove shoes for just under 2 miles. That was dumb. My arches are grumpy now. Later I walked the other dog for over 2 miles in my usual shoes.…
  • Walked the dogs this morning for 32 minutes; rode the bike after work for 35. Enjoying a nice, dark beer while I cool down and stretch. My left calf (achilles?) is bothering me. I've been foam rolling them pretty aggressively and doing eccentric heel drops on the stairs for a couple days. I'll see how it feels in the…
  • Happy Birthday @amirahdaboss and @ContraryMaryMary! My legs are So sore from lunges on Tuesday! Cross training today... dog walk in the morning and stationary bike after work. Lots of foam rolling and stretching after both!
  • So... Sunday I didn't run cause of birthdays. I ran Monday instead, because the forecast called for 3+ inches of snow that night/the next morning. This morning, I planned to run my normal Tuesday morning run. I woke up to 2-3" of fresh snow... We had clear roads before this! Channeling @7lenny7 we geared…
  • Yesterday was our eldest son's birthday, and his brother's wife's birthday as well. After walking the dogs, my husband and I ran some errands. The kids showed up (early) and stayed late so I did not get out for my scheduled 3 miles, in which I had planned a fast mile. Tomorrow, the plan calls for 3 miles as well so this…
  • Whoa! That sounds awesome! Congrats!
  • @Elise4270 have you seen the haunting of hill house?
  • @shanaber We are signed up for the bridge of the gods in August.
  • Ditto!! Have fun! My husband and I are signed up for a 10k in April, a 12k in May... and our first HM in August!!
  • @mbaker566 - Oh yea, the Columbia Gorge is one I found recently as well. Wish my dogs weren't such *kitten*. lol I hadn't seen the other one, though. That looks great! I'll keep them both in mind for the future. @PastorVincent - Haha! Yeah, not planning on crushing anything, especially for my first half. Bonus is that one…
  • In a previous thread, I asked your opinions regarding my running my first half marathon this year. As I recall, most responses were along the lines of "sure, it sounds doable". So now, I would like your opinions regarding some options I'm considering. First, I'm leaning toward the Bridge of the Gods Half Marathon in…
  • Yesterday the temperature rose above freezing for a while. As a result, much of the snow/ice on the roads melted. Then last night it froze. Running on frozen slush is ... well, I told my husband it was bumpy, difficult and stupid! At least it's not icy. Two miles done this morning, 3/4 of it on frozen slush. The final half…
  • Welcome! Take a look at the C25K program. I'm one of many here who used it to start (and/or return after time off due to injury/excuses). Run slow enough so you could carry on a conversation, and have fun!
  • International same day delivery might be a tad expensive. Although perhaps we can share the cost between us. Just have to get everyone in one spot. lol 30 minutes cross training on the bike is done! A little higher level and slower but over 7 miles completed. Time for lasagna!
  • HA! So true. @Avidkeo you probably already got the point but I'm jumping in too... get the mixer! And I'm hoping you'll resolve whatever's going on with your calves soon. I've been fighting quite a bit of tightness in my left calf since overdoing it some time ago. It doesn't hurt to run, and is only tight and a little…
  • I ran on actual, dry asphalt and concrete this morning AND it was 10-15 degrees (F) warmer than it has been! It was still below freezing, and much of the run was still on packed snow and ice. Three miles done, a little faster than I should have but ... there was bare ground!!
  • All of this! I ran 2 miles yesterday. Almost didn't, but finally drug my butt outside after 10... which meant sunshine! Should have grabbed my sunglasses to block the reflections off the bright snow, but otherwise it was nice to be in the sun for once.
  • @shanaber That's great news... and thanks!
