So this isn't really a workout by any means, but I'll incorporate some of these when I have a long drive (exercises to do in the car - some you can do while driving, others not so much). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bKRNVC62O0 Maybe if you stay active on the way home, you'll feel more energized afterward?

I love doing blogilates on YouTube (youtube.com/blogilates). It's pilates, and if you sign up for the newsletter on blogilates.com, you'll get access to a new workout calendar every month. She also posts playlists of the daily workouts for those calendars, so you really don't even need the newsletter. Those playlists are…

I've been out of the running game with various foot and ankle injuries for the last two months. Instead, I've been focusing a lot on building strength. Today I finally felt I could try running again, fully expecting to run a measly distance and feel like death the whole time. Once I started, though, I was surprised to find…

This is my tactic, too. Especially with bangs, I live and die by dry shampoo.

I'd definitely start with Eccleston (the ninth Doctor, first Doctor of the reboot); the new ones are way more accessible than the older ones for beginners in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, the originals are fantastic, but the comedic timing takes some getting used to. Also, quick pet peeve. His name is "Doctor" not "Who,"…

Whoops, nearly forgot to add this week. SW: 244 CW: 194.2 GW: 191.6 Weigh in Dates: 12/1 - 196.6 12/8 - 195.0 12/15 - 195.0 (well, that's a bit disappointing. Beast Mode engaged) 12/22 - 194.2 12/28 End of Month (or whatever weigh in days you use) Total weight lost: Just for fun: What is your favorite December holiday…

Do you just stir in the protein powder or do you use a blender? I find that doing the latter helps avoid that gritty texture, and when I mix it with 12oz of unsweetened vanilla soy milk and half a cup of frozen berries, I find that it is delicious enough to treat it like dessert most nights. I use EAS vanilla soy protein…

I'm 24 and I've seen Pet Sematary a ton of times. Growing up, it was one of the movies that I'd sit down to watch anytime I saw it on TV, like whelp, better cancel my plans for the next two hours, this is more important. It is definitely weirder that he hasn't seen Psyco; I honestly didn't realize it could be avoided (not…

I know. Ooooh, I know. The idea is pretty gross, but the results are worthwhile. Seriously, the Suave stuff is like three bucks. Give it a shot and see if it works for you. Not everyone will like it, but my hair is so long and curly, I have to try pretty hard to avoid damaging it, and this method is a lifesaver.

Bah, meant to quote with my previous response and hit the wrong button. To help with continuity, here is my response again: I do use it right after work outs, but I know what you mean. Sometimes a bit of a blow dry is necessary first. It still only takes about ten minutes total, and I find it's totally worth it.

I second the dry shampoo response. Suave makes one that is super cheap and super effective, though you might want to shop around some until you find one that works best for you; I tried three or four - both expensive and inexpensive - before I found the one I'm sticking with. I seriously live and die by this stuff,…

The pigeon yoga pose helped me solve this problem. Mine were so tight, it was affecting the way I walked, but I've had very little trouble since I started incorporating this into my post-workout stretches. Hope it helps! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVlX5HNKamw

I'm not sure you got the math quite right, those numbers are very low. I think you missed one of the additions in your initial BMR calculation. Here's what I got: Step 1: 655 + (4.35 x 139.4) + (4.7 x 62) - (4.7x30) BMR 655 + 606 + 291.4 - 141 = 1411.1 Step 2: 1411.1 x 1.2 = 1,693.32 1411.1 x 1.375 = 1940.26 Step 3:…

I'm substantially taller than you, so my own numbers wouldn't be much help, but here's the equation I use to figure a ballpark goal: Step 1: Figure out your BMR, how many calories your body burns just by. You know. Existing. For WOMEN: 655 + (4.35 x Weight in pounds)+(4.7 x Height in inches) - (4.7x Age) = BMR Step 2: Take…

Toast with some sort of nut butter is and will forever be my favorite. I'll sometimes add sliced bananas or berries and just a little bit of honey if I have some extra time in the morning and won't be running out the door immediately. Steel cut oats made with almond milk and mixed with a little bit of brown sugar and…

Evidence suggests there is actually a direct relationship. Higher levels of stress lead to higher levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, in the bloodstream which can lead to greater amounts of abdominal fat (something about glucose regulation, maybe - I don't remember exactly). I'm no expert, I just vaguely remember this…

This isn't so much an exercise necessarily geared to burn calories, but I've been trying to incorporate a little yoga into my daily routine. I started this because my lower back has been giving me a lot of trouble lately (I work at a desk all day and have terrible posture - also something I'm working on). Anyway, I've…

"The Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan (and later Brandon Sanderson after Jordan passed). If you're a fantasy fan, you've probably already heard of it, but I felt it should be mentioned. It's an epic series - sixteen books including the prequel - but it's totally, totally worth it. "The Fault in Our Stars," "Paper Towns," or…

I've had mixed experiences with it. I tried to make a quinoa version of stir-fry and it was a total bust. There are two recipes in particular, however, that have turned out really well. This one, a quinoa version of Broccoli Rice Casserole: http://www.annies-eats.com/2012/09/17/cheesy-broccoli-quinoa-casserole/ is pretty…

I'm in the same boat, but I'm more of a cookie decorator. I just take them into the office, leave them in the kitchen, and come back for the empty plate at the end of the day. Also knitting! Ahaha, I'm 23, but you wouldn't guess it from my hobbies.

I graduated from university last May, but managed working an average of fifteen hours a week, being involved in two very time-consuming extracurricular activities, all of my studies, and my thesis during my senior year, as well as working out almost every day. I will not even begin to pretend it was easy, but I did lose…

I use almond milk rather than water or regular milk. Throw in some raspberries and boom. Fantastic. Simple and fantastic.

My goodness, have I been there. To be honest, I'm still sort of coping with this. Over the last year or so, though, I've found a few things that help. I definitely try to find activities that keep me busy, and, more importantly, keep my hands busy; it's hard to eat if your hands are occupied. I've taken up knitting so that…
