Wow! You look fantastic! You have worked really hard and it shows!

I am a very slow runner. My best 5K so far was 37:57. But I really like running and I don't care too much how fast I go as long as I'm out there enjoying myself and moving my body. That being said, I bet you would run faster just going outside! Running is so much more fun outside than on the treadmill!

Wow, it's a good think I didn't know all this before I ran my first 5K, which took me 43 minutes. I'm down to about 39 minutes now, and if I ever break under 30 minutes I think something will have frozen over.

You can deal with cravings in a combination of two ways: 1) Remove the temptation 2) Get better at watching the craving coming and going without acting on it People have already given you good tips about the first one. I find meditation helps me to get better with the second one. It helps me to practice waiting out my…

How great! You're probably still smiling!!
-
Wow, you guys are speedy! My best so far has been 79 minutes. Getting to 60 would be freaking spectacular!!!
-
I would say to focus on distance first over speed. Speaking personally, I would rather finish the race and have to walk some of it, than snap off a fast 5K off the top and then be too cooked to finish the race!

The leg-staying-crossed NSV is one of my favorites!! And congrats on the running too!

I don't think it matters. Now is now. Figuring out the answer to that question doesn't change what needs to be done in the present. All the best to you in your journey to health!!

It will totally depend on who's doing the running - i.e., current weight and heart rate during running. Do you have a heart rate monitor?
-
Woohoo! Great news!!!

I've read the Chi Running book and more recently, "Born to Run," which is about mimimalist/barefoot running. In reading the latter book it dawned on me what the Chi Running book was all about! I'm at the very beginning stages of learning from my feet how to improve my running form, and I'm really looking forward to hearing…

What a great example of every day committment! You look fantastic and must feel amazing!

You can get frames that have a prop thingy on the back, but if you have had it professionally matted and framed already, then I'd opt for the plate stand/easel option. :)

Absolutely astounding! We humans can be quite amazing when we put our minds to it! Makes me think maybe I can run a half marathon or a marathon one day...

Podcasts of the C25K program or Robert Ullrey's podcasts with music are really encouraging and make you want to go the distance! They really helped me! I've done a couple 5Ks now and my sister and I are doing a 10K race on May 1st! You can do it!
-
Fantastic! Sounds like you are a runner after all!!

On a completely different yet related note, I have also been having back and hip issues over the past 7-8 months and it is related to weakness in my gluteus medius muscles. Doing targetted excercises to strengthen these muscles is already helping me a great deal! (lots of demos can be found on youtube by googling). My…

I eat what I want. But what I want has changed :)

I do the boyshort underwear that's in girl panty fabric - gives me some extra support and total butt coverage!
-
I'm curious about this too. I'm always above my target heart rate when I go for a run....
-
That's terrific! Enjoy the compliment and the new clothes! :)
-
Awesome! You look fantastic and I'm sure you feel the same! (Very pretty bra too! :)

You can also get rubbery "spike belts" for your runners that cost about 25-40 bucks depending on the style. My shoe spikes are what kept me running over this winter, because I don't have a treadmill either and I live in the country away from any kind of gym facility. Putting some screws into some old runners also sounds…

I also started slowly and built up. I liked the C25K approach of setting manageable goals and feeling good meeting them rather than running 'til I can't go anymore and feeling like I quit somehow. The C25K app is really good but I especially liked the Robert Ullrey podcasts based on the C25K intervals but which has music…

That was so great that you did that! Moments like that can be so powerful for both the giver and receiver. How cool that you made a new friend - hooray is right! :)

I weigh myself almost every day, buck naked. I only weigh in once a week though, on Saturdays. The daily scale checks help keep me focussed, but if I forget a day I don't worry about it :) Different habits work for different people it seems....

Everything goes in cycles, the main thing is to learn from the downturns. Begin to log everything again honestly (it's yourself you're lying to anyway, when you don't) and take a step back and see if there's anything you can think of that might be at the root of things. And most important of all, be patient and kind with…

When we are mean to others, we are mean to ourselves. We all deserve kindness; life isn't easy. So be kinder to yourself by being kinder to others. I think we all can be judgemental like that from time to time, but it is worthwhile practicing doing it less. MFP helps us get better at chosing what we put in our bodies so we…
