Pot, Kettle. Kettle, Pot.

You guys are totally right...this show is nothing at all like Biggest Loser, where people go to the Ranch where they have no TV or phones, have their diets managed, learn about nutrition, and get to work out all day long under the supervision of trainers and doctors, and then go home to carry on the mission. Nothing at all…

Start with not having junk in the house. You cannot binge on what is not there. Next, plan your meals and snacks and prepare ahead so that you have a solution on the hectic days. it is easier to eat smart if you do not have to slave over the stove as opposed to hitting the speed dial for pizza. Lastly, find a new and…

Side effects are an urgent need to use the bathroom and perhaps and inability to control your bowels. Yum. Also, as with all these miracle diet pills they destroy your metabolism which will make it more likely you will gain all the weight lost + once you get off it. And then you will try the healthy eating and exercise and…

Yes and no. And if that is not exact enough for you, it gets even more gray from there! The answer is really going to depend on you and your specific needs. Some things that determine whether or not you need to consume all, some, or none of your exercise calories are: How overweight are you? The more overweight you are the…

You should talk to your doctor, who will be far more familiar with you and your needs and over all more knowledgeable about general health and nutrition than random people on the intertoobs. Whenever you see a discrepancy between a web site and your doctor, err to your doc. See what he/she thinks about eating your exercise…

It depends on your exertion level, and it sounds as if you are not working hard on those rides. If I am not getting my heart rate up than I do not count it, but that is just me...

Hydroxycut, and all the other diet pills on the market work great, just not for you. They are solely designed to make money, that is all they do. For a diet pill to be effective it needs to do two things. First, it needs to supress your apetite, second ineeds to increase your metabolism. All diet pills attempt to acomplish…

:drinker: Cheers to you! I post what has worked for me since 2005. I haven't lost as much as you, but a little over 100 pounds, so I don't think I am spouting nonsense, even if I disagree with some of the main ideas posted here. Anyway, I am going on vacation this week so :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: and back in the gym…

It doesn't have to turn heated. But it gets tiring whenever someone posts an alternative view, one that has worked for them for a while, and a bunch of people jump all over you for it. People need to realize that not everyone's body works exactly the same way. There are differences, and while they may be subtle, some…

I am glad so many people on this website think that every single human being is 100% physiologically identical, and that everyone needs to do exactly the same thing as everyone else, and any deviation from that one divinely inspired method is heresy. I am also impressed with the ability of some people to diagnose issues…

ugh, pushups. I had a bit of a smart mouth in the Army, I am very familiar with pushups. I do them for time at a constant repetition, rather than count the numbers. I would hate to know how many I have done lol Some ways to improve what the pushup does for you is to vary your stance. Not just diamonds and wide arms and…

All the diet pills on the market are gimmicks. They are not designed to help you lose weight, except in your wallet. They are junk science mixed with snake oil and the pray on people desparate for help. Here is a hint, if the bottle you are looking at makes claims, and it "has not been evaluated by the FDA", well, they are…

I would just drink regular gatorade if you get sick of plain water, or add lemon to water. I found the vitamin water too artificial tasting for me. You don't really need something like that unless you are working out and sweating right now. A balanced diet will give you most if not all the nutrients you need. Exceptions…

I like to buy a brick of cheese, easy to slice into protion sized bars for a snack. Costco has some very nice meats, and fish. Load up on salmon, always found it to be good there, and I live on the coast. Also their chicken is cheap and good quality. Also they have some good deals on Gatorade, for when you are working out,…

If you are used to over eating on your early meals (as in eating more than a normal portion), you might try dirinking a full glass of water before eating. Try to eat foods that are high in fiber, and remember that fat is the slowest macro nutrient to digest, leaving you feeling full longer, whereas carbs are quickly…

While it is exercise, you are probably not burning all that much more than you would just watching tv or shopping. In my 30 minute routine, for example, I average around 100 calories burned, just watching a tv show and getting up and walking to the kitchen for water or the to bath room I burn between 50-75. Not worth…

Could be alot of things, if it hurts just to stand on I would go see a doctor. At the very least wrap it to keep the joint immobile. Whether you ice or heat it depends on the injury. Is it swelling at all? This does not sound like shin splints, maybe a sprain or strain. You will need to find some exercises that you not…

I find, at least with myself, that if I get joint pain from something like dips it is because my form is wrong. Maybe my arms are crooked, too wide, too narrow, something like that. You can try them on a kitchen counter where the strain may be just enough to feel it, but not enough to injure yourself. If you are…

Sorry for the hijack, but I see this qualification all the time, here, there and everywhere. Companies love to throw the "all natural" out there, and so many people just suck it up like it is the best thing ever. Here is a short list of "all natural", but I would not want to eat any of it: Arsenic mercury poison ivy crude…

For one, keep doing them. Nothing helps you get better at something like doing it. For other exercises that help the triceps there are dumbell routines you can do. Try triceps extensions, and things called french presses. Even upright rows will help your triceps some.

My ex drill sergeant would disagree with that! This looks like a fun program, I may start it up in March...Thanks for posting it!

It looks real interesting, but I don't know...maybe someone who owns one can comment?

Most cardio equipment these days is compatible with Polar, so you can not use the watch and the chest strap will still transmit to the machine. Or you can put the watch in your pocket if you hate wearing one. I had the F-6, now I have the F-7. The watch is the same, functions are the same, I enjoy the F-7 strap though. I…

Soda sux, simple as that. Just quit. Cold turkey, and do not replace the caffeine. Enjoy the headaches. Pain is weakness leaving the body, and that statement really shines here. I quit Mt. Dew, like a 12 pack a day. That and quitting smoking were the best things I have ever done for myself...

Honestly most people just don't have that much gunk in there. Also, there is a ton of necessary bacteria and enzymes and other things that are required to digest certain foods, get the most out of the foods we eat, and make our digestive systems more efficient. Using these "cleanse" products often wipes out the good flora…

They make triathlon tops, very much like a sports bra but quick drying. Also, at the absolute very least there will be porta potties there, you can change in there if you need to. Just be sure to practice it. Even though you say you have no plans to compete, it is no fun being last out of any transition...

Do you feel dizzy, weak, or get blurry vision when your HR goes that high? Does your HR drop quickly when you stop or slow down? Does it increase quickly when you speed up? Your generic max is 176. 180 is only 4 BPM over the max for the average 44 year old. Keep in mind that people are way less active than ever, so chances…
-
That is not bad. Another test is how long does it take for your heart to respond to increased activity? As you raise or lower your exercise level, your body needs more or less O2, and it responds by increasing or decreasing your HR. You want your heart to jump up quickly, and then if you do not work out for any length of…

The generic formula to figure out your max HR is 220 minus your age. So a 30 year old would be 190, a 20 year old 200, etc. This is generic and if you see a doctor and they recommend something different go with that. Also with training you can raise your max HR, but you really have to work at it, most people do not train…
