Running with weight will result in you burning a few more calories, but only if it doesn't cause you to slow down. Size of the weights are irrelevant when looking to get 'ripped'. Getting ripped is 90% down to your diet, a low carb diet at that. Sound advice, though personally i'd advise against 5x5 strong lifts this early in the game. Something's gonna end up snapping this early on, the tendons/joints need to be progressively readied for a program like that.
