  • Skullcrusher, I understand many of the things you mention.. Sounds like you do a great job staying up to date. With my age, I have seen many changes in fitness over the years and do know there are many different methods. Thank you for offering your advice on this site. I hope you continue to do so. I may not try every…
  • The HMS is similar to the Ehlers-Danlos as I understand, similar or often mentioned as a lesser form of the ED. With the HMS, extreme pain when young is often put off to growing pains as was told to both myself and my daughter. HMS is also hereditary. When a child is diagnosed, a parent often realizes they also had or have…
  • I went through cycle 1 last spring and lost 10 pounds. I think I gained 5 over the holidays but just cutting out carbs and exercising more, I have lost that back and a few more. I need to have a plan, I have been watching my calories trying to stay around 1200 but I seem to do better with more restrictions and guidelines…
  • You look great! Thanks for sharing with us.
  • I am not sure I know what a spinning shimmy looks like. It sounds difficult. I have only been dancing since last spring but love it. Sometimes when I am learning new dance moves, I have to remind myself to dance with joy first. How long have you been dancing?
  • Does anyone know of a good app or tool for menu planning to save time each week. I wish MFP had a place to input your week's plan, show your grocery list from it and the calorie and nutrition totals for the plan. Then it would be nice to just check off what you stuck to or make changes where needed. I am trying to follow…
  • Is that Rachel Brice you are speaking of? hasn't she moved to Portland?
  • Wow, your picture motivates me also!
  • I have been off "bad carbs" and started pushing through exercise and next thing I know, I am not having the crippling stiffness. I have had a few weeks now with improvement and being able to exercise. It gives me more hope of getting this extra weight off. Bellydance is a great workout, fun, and easy on joints. Some yoga…
  • Interesting about the carbs. I have been wondering about this too. My stiffness and pain has been much better the last few weeks while avoiding what I call the bad carbs, bread, pasta, sugar. I fudged a few days ago and woke during the night with a back ache and then in the morning with more stiffness. I am trying to get…
  • Mine started after a hysterectomy and then an increase in physical activity. I always thought it was the hormonal shift from the surgery but do remember symptoms starting before that. My daughter suffered with it from ages 7-9 terribly. It wasn't diagnosed, but I know her problems included fibro. She was diagnosed with…
  • Hi, I'm Laura Current Wt., 170 First Round Goal Wt. 155. Other Goals: to get more sleep and exercise more consistently I live in the beautiful mountains of NC with my wonderful family. I have been married for 20 years and have a daughter age 14. Weight has been a battle for me since puberty. I have had physical issues tied…
  • I need MFP support.
  • Three times for lower body and three times for the upper body. When you have healed you could work out the whole body three days, skipping a day in between like suggested, or a routein for example with upper on Monday, Wensday, Friday and lower on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Hope it all goes well.
  • Hmmm, how to describe the sidewinder? Doing a down to up figure 8 with the upper body, alternating pushing to the front corner with your hand to the opposite side of the figure 8 loop you are in. LOL. Does that make since at all. Just watch Rachel on you tube. She does look like a serpent. I do love her DVD. It is a great…
  • I am working on the sidewinder. I also use a Rachel Brice serpentine DVD with drills: working on her shimmy drill which involves undulations, upper isolations, etc. Mine definitely need more work. :)
  • Hello Lauren, I have Fibro and the last several years has been a real challenge. I have always loved to exercise but it makes my symptoms worse. I started Belly Dance last spring and love it. It is a great workout and easier on the joints than many others forms of exercise. Some yoga aggravates my fibro but now I have…
  • I love Belly Dance and it is a great workout. I have several good DVDs. Amira Belly Dance 101 might be good for just startng and basics. I have Rachel Brice's Serpentine. It has has drills, combos and great yoga workouts. I don't think it is best for beginners. Asharah's Modern Tribal Belly Dance DVD is a great workout. It…
  • I have read that losing faster than 2 pounds a week will mean lean muscle loss also. You may be Losing at the perfect rate. I don't know if this is true but once I lost very quickly and my muscle tone went to crap. I had a friend who lost so quickly, her skin couldn't keep up and she had surgery to remove quite a bit. Best…
  • I add a scoop of chocolate protein powder and a bit of peanut butter. The added protein keeps my sugar from dropping and it taste like a treat.
  • I hade a dream last night that brought this very subject to light for me. Yesterday I was feeling particularly unhappy with my body when I looked in the mirror. But my dream reminded me that our bodies are a gift to house our spirit while here on earth. They bounce back and serve us well regardless of abuse and neglect. We…
