  • When I hear the "Oh!" sound, I think to myself "thanks a lot, b****!" and then strive to shut it up by putting in a good workout. My Mii's a little chunk too, but I did her up in pig-tails and huge-lash eyes, so she's pretty cute. The only thing I hate is the "attitude" the Board avatar gives me when I give it an…
  • I think it automatically rounds up, which is unfortunate. I've added things to "my foods" and noticed this. Something might really have 2.5g of fat (which I enter) but it saves as 3g of fat. In the grand scheme of things, the rounding up might actually help -- you're actually a little under what you logged.
  • Because triglycerides come from saturated fats and majority of sat. fats come from foods with animal origins. My dad has hypertriglyceridemia (basically a hereditary condition of having too much triglycerides in the blood as the article Azdak linked explained -- I'm hoping it didn't get passed on to me!) and has only had…
  • The game part is what makes it enjoyable, well for me anyway. The drive to get a better score than the last time helps to keep me at it. Some of the activities you will outgrow in a short while, but others you can stick with (like Super Hula Hoop). They also make other games that involve the FIt board -- I…
  • Eggs, tofu, animal meats, TVP (textured veggie protein for the uninitiated), nuts, etc, have decent protein without being high in carbs. Certain veggies too (mushrooms, spinach). If you're already limiting the number of processed carbs you're eating (white bread, etc), then try to replace some fruit with veggies. There's…
  • I like it for something fun to do, but I take its calculations with a grain of salt -- after all, it can't really tell how hard (or not) you're working.
  • I'm curious as to how to you freeze the individual servings. Pour it into Ziploc bags? Pour into saved plastic containers then once frozen empty it into something else for storage? I've poured excess broth into ice cube trays to freeze so I could have a "shot" of flavor to add into a dish, but it seems a bit unwieldy with…
  • I've made a version of this with Boca Ground (a soy meat replacement) instead of turkey/chicken for a vegetarian friend. Loved it, but it was almost too good -- hard to put the fork down. :) I like ripe olives in mine too.
  • LOL! :drinker:
  • It's probably not too embarrassing for her if she's asking the question here in the first place!
  • Oooh....*drool*. I bet this would be awesome cold the next day! Thanks for the recipe. I definitely will try this the next brick of tofu I get!
  • Your clothes are a more accurate judge. Seriously! Get yourself a tape measure (the kind for sewing will do) and keep track of your progress by how your body decreases in size not by its weight.
  • Find unsweetened tea or juices that are clearly labeled as 100% juice. Also, I think the no cal version of SoBe's LifeWater is sweetened with stevia, so if you don't have a problem with stevia, you can try that.
  • Like everything, some is good, too much is bad. One cup of coffee, tea, or equivalent caffeine in a different drink has been shown to benefit your body, but if you go overboard....
  • You could always suggest that you want to be healthy so you can live a long life and enjoy your kids (and possible grand kids!) for many, many years to come! Give him a definitive list of healthy treats you love to buy if he wants to give you a reward. He probably just really doesn't have any idea what to get other than…
  • What about Canadian Bacon? I'm not sure of the sodium levels in that, but you might want to compare to see if it's any different than ham. Edit: Or for that matter, find one smoked instead of cured. I believe cured usually means some sort of brine.
  • Anything will do, really...it's how you combine them that counts. Sauces usually follow the a bit of everything -- sweet, sour, bitter, hot, salty, aromatic, and fragrant line, all in one, so in that sense: Sweet: fruit juice like pineapple or orange Sour: rice vinegar, lemon juice Bitter: lemon or lime juice Hot:…
  • I thought pasata was thicker than normal sauce...like halfway between tomato paste and tomato sauce. Either way, it'll all taste the same, but using pasata just might make a denser loaf.
  • Poke the chicken breasts all over with a fork then cut it into cubes and marinate in pineapple or orange juice, cornstarch, ginger, garlic, chili paste (optional) and a dash of soy sauce (if you have a can of pineapple chunks or mandarin orange wedges, save the fruit out and add it back in the last step). The longer it…
  • You go, girl! :drinker: That's the spirit! To the OP: Awesome job! Congrats.
  • Bring your own snacks in your carry-on (if you have room). Only get water from the beverage cart. If you're not too self conscious about it (like if the person you're sitting next to is sleeping), try "chair" exercises: tense the muscles in one area, hold for ten seconds, then release and repeat. You can do this with your…
  • LOL! That is completely awesome -- congratulations! It's the little things that make a huge difference when staying motivated.
  • The baked bean recipe I have (uses navy beans) calls for baking soda for the soak water too. Not only does it help reduce the one downside to eating beans, but it also seems to make the beans more tender.
  • Wasa crispbread is a good alternative to tortilla chips. You can do more with them too -- layer your salsa on top of one with a bit of shredded cheese and nuke it for a few seconds in the microwave. You now have a little mini salsa pizza snack!
  • I'm the opposite. I find it hard to find enough good things to eat to meet my calorie requirements since veggies are so naturally low. Cheese, fruit, whole grains, nuts, yogurt, eggs all have moderate calorie counts. Boost those with lots of high fiber veggies -- all of that fiber will help you to feel full and it'll seem…
  • I usually eat afterwards 'cause I work out when I get home at night. If I ate, waited a half an hour, then worked out, I'd be too amped up from the workout to be able to sleep at night. Just so I don't feel weak or lightheaded during my workout, I usually eat a little something before driving the half hour it takes me to…
  • Try as I might to only buy as much fresh as I need, some of it still goes to waste -- I had to toss 1/4 of a watermelon because it went bad before I had the chance to eat it all. Fruits that hold up better I can put in my dehydrator and store the dried fruit in the freezer for winter, but veggies are a little harder. I…
  • This, and support! Really. Sharing your successes (or set backs) helps to motivate yourself and others. You'll only be humiliated if you want to be, but in reality, we should all be extremely proud of ourselves for wanting to do something healthy!
  • Yep, the only thing they're doing is quick weight loss from water loss. It's a very dangerous thing to do.
  • This! Well I still eat sandwich thins and wheat wraps, but long gone are the days of getting a whole loaf of fresh French bread from the bakery and polishing it off in two days. I was a complete bread-a-holic!
