I have started cooking dinner for the family 5 or 6 nights a week and we eat together. I take a lot more satisfaction putting healthy foods on the table that taste great then easy foods on the table that are OK but not really healthy (too much sodium, sugar, processed, GMOs, etc....) I have also started packing lunch for…

For the first two months all I did was walk. I would walk for an hour three times per week then four times. I was going at about 3 mph. I also had an exercise ball and some hand weights at 8 lbs each to help tone my arms up. I borrowed a mini-trampoline to do some non-stressful to my knees cardio while I watched tv. I…

I have a 90 pound lab who I could control with dental floss he is so obedient -- he is not very good at running though so he doesn't get to go out on runs -- only walks. My 65 pound mixed breed who has the strongest hunt/tracking sense was terrible on his leash or harness. He would try to drag you about and your arm hurt…

I read that properly hydrated skin can help shrink back faster with weight loss so I have been applying regular body lotion at least once per day (nothing fancy or expensive really -- bought it at Bath and Body Works -- Shea Butter Cream). I used to rarely use body lotion but I did use face, foot and hand lotion only. I…

I don't eat back my exercise calories for the most part unless I am extra hungry which happens -- I do log cleaning and such when it is more than my daily effort. If I am lugging that vacuum around the house and working up a sweat -- I log it because I don't do it often. I do not log grocery shopping, cooking, doing…

Posted to fast -- I meant to add -- My knees hurt when I exercise if I do a high impact exercise. I can weight train, Zumba, Elliptical, Swim, Walk, and low impact aerobics and it is not bad at all -- if I try to run or do high impact aerobics forget about it my knees are screaming out in pain and I cannot continue. I know…

I would probably wait a few days and see if the pain subsides. If it does I would start to exercise again but maybe not as intense as before. I would probably also take a supplement that helps with joints. If the pain persists or returns as soon as you start exercising again I would make an appointment with your doctor.

I think you need to reach out to others and try to build up the support you need. I will send you a friend request. I am on all the time and I do support my friends!!

I think it will depend on where you are starting from -- the more you have to lose the greater your first week loss may be. Also if you have very poor eating habits and you change them around it may be more drastic. When I was younger it was common for me to lose close to 10 pounds in the first week. Now I don't think I…

I would strongly recommend that you ask your parents to make an appointment with a nutritionist or a dietitian who can help review your current diet and what your goals for the future may be. Sometimes your goals may be unrealistic -- sometimes they are fine, but someone who is able to look at everything big and small will…

It is called living -- you need to realize that there are going to be days where you have more than normal and that is ok. So long as those days are the exception and not the rule it won't hurt in the long run. Just do what you know you need to do the next day. It is when a bad day turns into a bad week that a problem…

I have many low calorie filling meals, but my favorite is: I saute onion and garlic in about a half a tablespoon of olive oil until tender. I stir in about 3 ounces of diced chicken breast and a half cup diced tomatoes. Then I toss in an ounce of feta cheese and 3 - 4 cups of fresh spinach leaves. I cook until the cheese…

If you live near a Trader Joe's I love their Champagne Pear Gorgonzola Vinaigrette I also make my own dressing with different types of vinegar and oils -- depending on the salad. I have made honey mustard dressing using honey, mustard, and light sour cream (dash of vinegar to thin it out to dressing consistency) Rice…

Very motivational. You should be very proud of your transformation and you sound happy in your posts (if that is possible to sound), but it just seems good for you!!

I weigh myself every day just to see the fluctuation and to deal with it. I was more stressed when I only weighed myself once a week -- what if the weigh in day was an up day -- how would I know? I know that my weight can fluctuate 2 pounds each day based on my sodium consumption. It is not that I ate 7,000 extra calories…

So was the point of this whole thread to debunk the myth of sugar addiction and prove your superiority because you do not believe in such nonsense? Or that those who blame their weight gain on a sugar addiction simply need to accept that they have no will power and are responsible for their own weight gain not the phantom…

I have found that until I measure something repeatedly I cannot eyeball it. My guesses are WAY off. I just measured what I thought would be one ounce of Feta Cheese for my salad -- it was like half an ounce. I was under estimating. BUT then I over pour my salad dressing. The only thing I do not weigh or measure is my…
