Hi, y'all. My name is Darin, and I'm a 36 year-old 5'7" woman of Thai descent living in Holly Springs, North Carolina, US. I've been with my high school sweetheart for 20 years since February, and we're engaged to be married - date unset but aiming for early 2016. I joined MFP several years ago. Hey, did you know you can…

Hi, I have an android - and they have a free version and a C25K $1.99 version... I think I'll try the free one first. But thank you @chandelierbee for even bringing this up - I didn't even know this was a thing! :)

I love this thread.

Welcome aboard, joescibelli65! If you need anything, just let any of us know. Feel free to add me. This is a great place for support, laughter, and keeping it honest.

Hi, I'm the poster child for On/Off Bandwagon. Did you know you can only change your Screen Name on MFP twice? Advice to n00bs: Do not put an action year in your screen name. When the year changes, you feel kind of foolish. Several years on? It just makes you feel old. Would you send me an invite? ;)

You're learning to be healthy for the rest of your life, and you'll run into this many more times (holidays, vacations, dinners on the fly). Just: * accept what you ate, * forgive yourself (and don't beat yourself up), * look at your food diary and see what different decisions you could have made (smaller portions, maybe a…

Hi, I'm anti-fad diet, but I'll say this: When I went to medical school, we reviewed the atkins diet, and it definitely works. The key, though, is actually following the diet - you really must limit your carb intake to the recommended levels to put your body into ketosis. It's also not recommended for people who are…

Okay, I didn't start due to migraine. I"m a few days late, but starting tomorrow....
-
I'm in too. I've made it to level 2 and always loved how much of a difference even a few days made. So I'll start up tomorrow morning, first thing. :-D

I was doing great for almost a year... then I gained all of it back plus more. I have returned to doing the calorie tracking (which is a key tool for me)... so anything that goes in my mouth has to be tracked. Then Sunday. And Monday. I need help.

I'm back! Sorry for the absence. Rough week. But starting out strong!

GO FOR IT. Last year, I signed up, on a whim, for a charity one? I had never really run - kind of jogged, sporadically. So I downloaded Couch to 5K and did the 8 weeks leading up? It's gentle, and it's confidence building. I found that running in the mornings became "me" time. I was able to jog the entire distance. It was…

I'm with you guys. this "keeps me honest". And when I have a bad day, it helps me to have other people with similar goals, going through the same daily struggles and temptations...
-
At the beginning it was harder to keep things under control - I had a lot of binge-style days, which was not good at all. It's been better over the last week, though. I'm trying to stay motivated and not kill things by eating too much at night...

Thai parties are the same way. There's no way around it except to work out more later. :-D

I'm with you all the way! I'm very guilty of emotional eating. I do the "I deserve this" mindset a lot. Also the immediate gratification thing. Bad day = I deserve it. Significant other not taking care of himself = Why bother with me? Worked hard at work = I deserve it. It's been a challenge to try to break those…

Ditto on old habits. I just slid back into "eat what you want" which is hard to kick. this morning, trying to stay focused. !!!!

I do a mini-spa for face - exfoliation, mask, toning, moisturizing. It's very restful and very indulgent. It forces you to slow down a little. :-)

I had a loss, but if you look at my food diary, you'd see that I don't really deserve it. Exercise levels down, calories through the roof, mostly with trash calories (alcohol, extra food)..... I'm sabotaging myself. I'm trying to straighten up this week. but when my own worst enemy is myself... it can be rough.

Yes, Dr. Nick Riviera's "Window to Weight Gain" is freaking hilarious. So many great moments there. And I believe, if my memory serves me correctly, that the initial reason Homer chooses to try to work from home is because Mr. Burns institutes a morning exercise requirement for the power plant employees. :-D
-
I'm going to get back on track. Exercise once a day for the rest of the week - that's my mini-goal. -d
-
Same here. I had been on fitday for years, too. But this is better. :-)
-
Hey guys! Well, it was a mixed week. Started off rough, then got back on the exercise wagon (with still some excess eating). I've lost what I gained last week, so it's a victory of sorts. I just have to keep with the exercising, and I have to stay very aware of what I'm eating and WHY. I truly believe that this is a…

Welcome! I'm guilty of this too. People don't believe that I overeat - they're like, but you eat so healthy! You always have leftovers! What they don't know is that I hide it - I'll eat later at night. I'll throw away fast food wrappers prior to getting out the car. At my lowest times - I'll be out picking up dinner for my…

I'm absolutely like this. I "eat" the stress of people around me. If my family's not doing well, I "let" myself eat more. If my fiance is depressed or not taking care of himself, I kind of go "well, if he's not taking care of himself, why should I?" I know rationally that this is not a good reaction. I understand that my…

I'm so glad you shared this. It's incredible what we can do when we just push ourselves just a little more, isn't it? You're an inspiration.

Same sheet. :-)

I"m so glad you're excited - I'm excited! But really, I work on spreadsheets for a career - it's nice to do something fun.

Here we go! The peach/orange area is automated - it'll add up everything and subtract. So just enter calories burned! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aua8OM31RuDtdExLeENfNVdYYjdNUHFGUEIyYjRZYVE#gid=2
