It was done by the same machine both times so not sure if it could be human error? The water thing may have something to do with it though - the first time, it was when I had just arrived at the gym, and today it was after my workout and I'd drunk 2-3 bottles of water.

I try not to eat after 8pm but I find if I have dinner at 5/6ish then I'm starving by 10pm! If I really, really have to snack then I have a piece of fruit or a rice cake.
