Wow. You are truly an inspiration to us all. Congratulations!

My evening wine is important for my sanity  I found it interfered with my weight loss only because it made me go over my calorie limit. I'm now measuring my glasses (what I thought was 4 ounces was really 6!) and making sure it gets into my diary. If I go over one day, I'll do more cardio the next to help make up for…

I agree with this. I was on the pill for *ahem* 25 years and went off a little over a year ago. I didn't start gaining weight until I turned 30 (15 years after I went on it) when my metabolism ground to a halt. I hoped that going off would magically drop some weight. Sad to say that it didn't. The weight I have lost is due…

At 5' 3.75" I just squeak in under the limit  Hello everyone! 2011 was a learning year for me. I had a "hell with it" summer and gained 5 pounds over my start weight in January. Then I came to my senses and have dropped 10 pounds. 10 pounds over a year isn't much, but I have also changed many of the habits that…

Getting properly fit for shoes is really important. There are different types of shoes for those who pronate (feet roll inwards), supinate (feet roll outwards) or who are neutral. Running specific stores have staff who are trained to determine what foot type you are. If you accidentally buy the wrong type, you can cause…

D2L1 done. I will have to cut back to every other day though. I made it through OK even though some muscles I forgot I had were a wee bit achy. However, I went to do my regular run afterwards and staggered to an out-of-breath-heart-rate-like-a-hamster-about-to-pass-out halt after 12 minutes. I'm getting close to my running…

What a neat idea. I'm new and would love to join a team. I currently do 12 miles/week. Cheers! Michelle

L1D1 complete! I thought the cardio would be a piece of cake now that I'm running 25 minutes every other day, but holy crap! I forgot how much jumping jacks challenge me. This time around I decided to do real pushups instead of the "lady" ones. Got through 10 on the first set and 6 on the second. I hope to get up to 15…

August 1 = 0 A very pathetic attempt that provided tons of amusement for my husband :blushing:

For those like me who probably won't be able to do one, I've found a training program :) http://www.fitstep.com/Misc/Newsletter-archives/issue69/how-to-do-your-first-chin-up.htm

I'm in! My husband recently installed a chin up bar. I don't think he ever dreamed I'd try to use it. I'm guessing I can't do one...

Because chocolate, french fries and pizza are chasing me ;) Seriously, because it feels good to meet new distance/speed goals and it gives me a chance to turn off my brain for a while.

Me! I'm 41 and have been with my husband for almost 21 years, who also didn't want kids. Every once in a while one of us would ask the other "are you sure?" Neither of us ever said no. I love other people's kids, especially my fabulous niece and nephew, but never had the urge to have one of my own. It can be very difficult…

My physiotherapist told me shin splints can be caused by having really tight calf muscles (which I do). I now do a 5 minute walking warmup before running to loosen things up and stretch a lot afterwards. I also started doing yoga, which seemed to help. Downward dog is excellent for the calf muscles! Good luck!
