I'm 5'3.5" and also have a short torso - no wiggle room at all in my midsection, but at least I have great legs ;) Feel free to friend me if you'd like.

I'm in! (a little bit grateful I missed crunch day ;)

I tried the the couch 2 5k a few times over the past year and found it started off too intense for me. I needed more of a recovery walk between running intervals - even though I ran 2 half marathons in 2008! I started the Walk to Run Nike+ program last month. At the end of week 4, I am still injury free and motivated :) It…

I have tricky knees too and haven't had a problem. My friend doesn't have bad knees and she did get knee pain after a few days. I find the stretching part of the DVD to be totally inadequate (you should hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds). I do a 30 minute yoga DVD afterwards and think it helps keep the aches and…

That is so true. Real low carbing is not the "bacon and cheese diet". It's about healthy fats, protein and lots of vegetables, especially greens.

I did the Atkins diet when it was all the rage a few years back. I lost 35 pounds in 4 months (my goal) and felt awesome. Then I started dreaming about bread, pasta and potatoes (and I hated potatoes before Atkins!) and leapt off the wagon after a year. I gained the weight back and then went on Weight Watchers. Then I…

I just finished day 6 level 1. I took yesterday off because my knees were aching, but felt good today. For some reason, I managed to get through both sets of pushups on day 1, but haven't been able to get through the second set since!

*waves hand* I'm in!

I think so too. I was put on Synthroid last year and had new blood work after three months. It showed I was in the "normal" range. I was still ridiculously tired all the time, and had to really push to have the dosage upped. I no longer nod off at my desk, but I am finding it really hard to lose weight. It's not all do to…

I know what you mean. I can't stand the texture (blech!) I have whizzed 1/2 a cup in a blender with some fruit for a smoothie and also whizzed it in a blender with some garlic and herbs for a low cal/high protein pasta sauce.

Glad I found this group again! :drinker: I didn't make my goal to not drink Sun-Thurs in January, but I found that I was a lot more mindful of what I was drinking and I made sure I counted every drink in MFP. Vodka martinis go down WAY too fast, so I pretty much stuck with wine. I too find that the nights I don't drink are…

I thought I saw a "moving heavy boxes" in the database that might be similar to moving heavy inventory... HTH, Michelle

I think a tsp of oil is a tsp of oil whether it comes from a fish oil pill or from a bottle of olive oil.

Lots of calf stretching helped me. I warm up for 5 minutes, the stretch. If my shins start to feel tight, I stop and stretch my calves some more.

I could see the pics. Way to go! Very inspiring. Perhaps what you need is to change up your exercise routine. The body gets used to doing the same old same old. Maybe a new DVD, or a different piece of cardio equipment? Good luck on the rest of your journey!

I call it circuit training. That and calisthenics-vigorous effort have the same burn. Cheers!

I stayed away from fast food for the week, but still managed to have pizza and a veggie burger at sit down restaurants so I don't think it was a total victory ;)

Way to go all of you who kept their goals this week! I managed to do quite well until Pity Party Thursday (long story, but it ended with a bottle of a very nice Californian Cab Sauv). It's the weekend, so I allowed myself two martinis with dinner last night (real ones, not grown-up kool-aid) and will probably do the same…

Hi there. I agree, it's easier with friends. Friend request sent! Going to the gym can be expensive. Perhaps if you paid for it with money that would normally go towards something unhealthy (lunches out, takeout pizza, that pint of ice cream, that bottle of wine, etc...), it won't hit your budget too hard. I'm…

Hi there. I'm new too and would welcome friends to help keep me accountable.

WOW! Awesome job! Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring us.

Oooooh this is my kind of group  I'll admit my fondness for Californian and Chilean reds (and the occasional straight up martini) have had a hand in my weight gain. I too will be trying to save them for the weekends. Cheers! :drinker:
