Yes, I lost some weight and got back into competing horses. Each helped the other. For 2012 I need to lose the rest of the weight, and get even fitter so I can be even more competitive!

I think "first one to lose 10 lbs" might be good. On another thread on the main message board, I signed up for 10 pounds by Valentine's Day. However after my first weigh-in today I'm not so sure about that - I have done better in inches than in pounds lost.

I think it's great that we have been adding members as well. MFP has helped me stay on track and really realize the value of what I was eating vs. exercising, as well as deciding what is *really* worth it in the snacks/sugar/etc. categories.

Congrats! That is a major transformation! Keep up the good work, I'm sure it will keep paying off.

I like honey in tea. I guess I have bought into the whole "it's more natural and not refined". Plus I just like it. However, I am trying not to add it to tea except occasionally now. In an effort to reduce sugar (so that I can enjoy it where I want - such as fruit or a bit of chocolate), I have tried using Splenda…

What did I sign myself up for?????? I had my watch and somehow this is way harder than I expected. I managed one plank at 1.5 minutes (yay), side plank for 30 secs, full plank for 30 secs, other side 30 secs, full plank 30 secs. Visualizing my XC courses is about all that gets me through these!

First day trying to increase my pushups. Whew! This is going to be some work! I managed 2 sets of 15, and 1 set of 10. I plan to work on both increasing the total number I can do, as well as trying to increase the reps per set, so that I can eventually do the 30 in a row by the end of the month.

Well done!!! My goal for 2011 was to lose weight and get back to competing horses. I did both. My goal for 2012 is to get to my ideal weight, and to be an athlete (like you). It is actually exciting and a little intimidating to consider that I can actually do this! I would like to be taken seriously as an athlete (instead…

I am pretty much in the same boat! I am so picky that I prefer all sweet things - fruits and sweet veggies like carrots and snap peas. There is a surprising amount of sugar in other things which I have not expected (e.g. deli meat). I was thinking about trying out some hummus since I just got a Magic Bullet for Christmas…

I felt a little like a "Debbie Downer" with my above post, so to counter-act that - I also have read that the first 6-8 pounds are usually easier because they are somewhat water weight, and also because your motivation at the beginning is usually higher. I was reading that someone was dropping weight (quite a bit) by…

I definitely have 10 lbs to lose, but I think it really depends on the person whether a month is realistic or not. That's 2.5 pounds per week, when I've heard that 'sensible' losses are between 1-2 pounds per week, with 1-1.5 being the most frequently suggested.

Whatever works! I am trying to make these challenges adaptable so that more people can participate.

I do them like hsmithway. 3 sets of planks, interrupted by another exercise or two.
-
OK I am going to post a few challenges (of course, ones that I want to do) - feel free to do the same!

Well, I hear ya! Being a picky eater has contributed to my unhealthiness, I think. However, I am starting to come around, like you. It is better to eat some fruit than a chocolate bar... I just found some recipes for protein shakes that look interesting. I am trying to have those occasionally instead of having something I…

EDIT: reading comprehension - sorry, I just realized you said "no meat" - I was thinking "no wheat" only! I have been alternating fruit smoothies (agreed as far as higher sugar) with plain non-fat yogurt, milk, 1/2 a banana, and berries, and just bought some protein powder to add to them. However I am also getting bored of…

Ok everyone - I would like to be embarrassed if I am falling off the wagon either diet or exercise wise. So can I team up with someone else who wants the same thing and then we can hold each other accountable? It makes a huge difference to me, whether I go ahead with eating that chocolate or not! I am too afraid to let my…

Great idea and hopefully, we can keep this group (and ourselves) active! I'm Blugal on COTH and post probably too frequently! I've had a hard time owning up to my issues. I'm 5'3 and currently 162 lbs. I was up to 182 lbs last year and just hated everything. I had been away from serious competition since 2006, although I…
