I wore my HRM while doing barn chores the other day, and it told me 1800 calories for about 4 hours and 15 minutes of work. That was leading all the horses out for turnout, cleaning stalls, dumping and refilling water buckets, and throwing down bales of hay. Most of that time, my heart rate was just a little below the…

This! There is tons of good advice on these boards, but not every approach is right for every person. Sometimes the hardest part is figuring out what works best for YOU.

My husband and son are both partially lactose-intolerant, but neither of them are bothered by yogurt. They can have yogurt and small amounts of cheese, a little bit of ice cream, things like that, but a plain glass of milk or too much cheese or ice cream will give them problems.

Personally, I don't log the walking done in the course of a museum/zoo/shopping/whatever trip. Largely because my pace in such a setting tends to be slow enough that it's not noteworthy. And since so much time is spent standing and looking at things, I'd have difficult time trying to quantify how much time I actually spent…

I've always been good about eating lots of fruits and vegetables, but previously I ate a lot more carbs, a little less fat, and a lot less protein. With so little fat and protein, I was hungry *constantly*, so I ate a LOT. Since I like to cook and garden, and it's extremely rare for me to eat fast food, there wasn't really…

I *loathe* squats. Probably because I'm uncoordinated, have tiny feet, a long femur, and a huge butt, so I really struggle with my form. But I'm working on it :P

For MMORPG's, I've played WOW for years (hit 60 just in time to do a little raiding before BC came out), played Warhammer Online for a little while when it came out, and I recently started SWTOR as well. Since I've always been a big fan of Bioware's single player games (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, etc.)…

Good job! And I bet you made your neighbors really happy, too! And in all seriousness, the other posters are totally right. Eating pizza once in a while is not a big deal. If you stayed within your calorie/macro goals, it doesn't matter at all. And if you didn't, then just move on. No need to beat yourself up about it.

I'm having pizza and beer for dinner tonight. But I spent 4+ hours shoveling **** earlier today. According to my HRM, I burned over 1800 calories doing so, so I'm not really feeling too bad about it. Therefore, I suggest **** shoveling as your punishment for this transgression. ETA: **** = manure

Haven't done the edible arrangement thing. But I confess that if I'm having a really insane week, I have been known to buy a fruit and/or vegetable tray just for myself. :embarassed:

That was going to be my suggestion as well. I find it to be one of the best ways for people to get a great deal on fabulous locally grown produce.

I also use a HRM these days, but before it arrived I used the number on the machine because the mfp number just seemed ridiculously high. My HRM gives me a number that's higher than the machine, and lower than mfp.

These are great! Femme: 1. OMG PONIES! 2. Shoes. Dozens of pairs of shoes. Thank goodness I have freakishly short and wide feet so it's hard for me to find shoes that fit, otherwise I'd have a lot more. 3. Crafts. I like to knit, bead, make jewelry and mosaics. 4. Cooking is fun! 5. I love to garden wearing funny hats. 6.…

I go through a ton of Penzey's spice mixes. Chigaco Steak and the California Seasoned Pepper in particular. And I just finished a jar of their Jerk Chicken and Fish. Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning Other than those, I go through a ridiculous amount of minced garlic, basil, oregano, and thyme.

I'd be pissed if that happened to me. But I'm always highly skeptical of anything from Fox news, so I'm going to suspend my outrage until I have more details from a reputable source. And I have used chocolate peanut butter and chocolate soynut butter in my son's PB&J sandwiches from time to time. Doesn't mean I don't love…

Yep. My husband complains about his chub, but I bought him a bag of his favorite cookies today. And steak. Because I love him, and he's not really a flowers/stuffed critter/etc type. It may be frustrating, but your mom is trying to give you something that she thinks will bring you pleasure. Like when my mom gives me pink…

Responsible! Though if my friends and I ask a bunch of questions, I do usually tip a little more generously for the extra time and effort.

This is a good point. My weight loss has been really slow, and I think part of the reason for that is that I had pretty decent eating habits to begin with. I needed to increase my protein, eat a little less, and exercise more, but I was already eating lots of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats. A friend of…

Personally, I try to do something light that keeps me moving if I've got a lot of muscle soreness. If I sit still like that for too long, then I get really stiff and miserable. So I'd probably go for a walk, but that's just me.

I've also had good experiences ordering from vitacost.

I always bruise easily, but it's even worse when my B-12 is low. And as pp have mentioned, low iron and aspirin could absolutely be contributing to the problem.

Although I'm in the "worse I look the more productive I was" camp myself, I have a friend who's a little more self conscious than I a, and she always wears a buff on her head. https://www.buffwear.com/catalog/ I've never tried one, but she swears by them.

I understand the point that he's trying to make, but honestly, rules like this drive me batty. Mostly because I'm a very literal person, and if you were to take most of them literally, you'd be making your food choices on the basis of completely irrelevant information. For example, I've passed a bag of home grown veggies…

I loathe intervals, but I do them at least twice a week on the "it's good for me" principal

Suitable for the intended purpose. Clear as mud, right? In all seriousness, I do beleive that there are a lot of factors in determing what type of fitness is right for you, and a lot of it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Maybe you just want to be able to maintain a healthy body weight and take the…

I use an air popper. I can't use the tiny rice popcorn in it, because it's so small that the air tosses it out before popping it, but any of the normal-sized kernels seem to work just fine. Whether you like the yellow or the white is just personal preference, I think. Both are good, though they are different, and sometimes…

When I have a sweet craving, I usually drink tea. A couple of the Celestial Seasonings holiday teas are reasonably sweet without anything added. I especially like the "Sugar Plum Spice" and the "Nutcracker Sweet", and I stock up at Christmastime every year.

Yep, the kind I have is just ground sesame, and I think it was either in the organic aisle or the ethnic food aisle. You could probably use darn near anything, though. Tofu doesn't taste like much on it's own, so you can do garlic and herb, or curry, or ginger, or ranch, or anything else you enjoy. I've also spread hummus…

Personally I go overboard if I give myself a weekly cheat day, but I absolutely give myself permission to spurge a little on special occasions like birthdays. So much of this is trial and error, figuring out what works for you, and what doesn't!

My weird husband doesn't drink beer. But he does drink hard cider, so I might get him some Strongbow. I asked him to change the oil in my car for Valentine's Day. Yes, I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself, but it's COLD in the garage right now. He'll probably wimp out and take it in to be done, and that's okay too.
