  • Large studies, no, and there likely never will be - there is no financial benefit for proving the placenta can be beneficial if consumed after birth to anyone but the few people who encapsulate the pills, so who would bother funding a study for it? The CDC would never touch it with a 10 foot pole, because could you imagine…
  • I forgot to do an intro! Here it is: Name: Virginia Hubby/Partner: James How many kids do you have: 1 step-daughter (12 years) and 1 daughter (14 months) Due Date: December 2nd, 2012 Do you know the gender: not yet. lol Have you picked out the baby's name: Archie William for a boy...noooo idea for a girl! Where do you…
  • I don't eat much red meat, and even when I do, my body doesn't respond properly to the iron in the meat - I'm borderline anemic even if I eat red meat daily. Iron supplements are not breastfeeding friendly for my daughter - if I take them, she gets extremely constipated. It's not like I taste my placenta when I take the…
  • I encapsulated my placenta - my husband helped me. It wasn't very hard, and I actually find skinning chicken to be grosser. I saw a marked difference in myself though after I started taking them - I was starting to develop PPD, but as soon as I started taking them, I felt a million times better. My iron levels were also…
  • Oh, and I second the Flips as a disposable insert option - I've never used the disposable inserts, but I have a couple Flips with the reusable insert and I love it. It actually looks near identical on the outside to a BumGenius (I think made by the same people, actually), and it comes in one-size and fits wonderfully.
  • You might actually show the daycare what diapers you'll be using - especially if you get velcro diapers, they work exactly like disposables, they would just send them home with you instead of throwing them out. Even day cares around here that say "no cloth diapers" have decided that the modern velcro closure diapers are…
  • Gosh....I always shudder when people go on this diet...however, I am curious about saying that the HCG makes burning fat more effective while Breastfeeding? How is that? I know for sure that HCG isn't present while breastfeeding (well, it is right after giving birth, because obviously the levels have to deplete back to 0…
  • I would do a Spike Day (some call it a cheat day). I spike weekly and belong to the Spike84 group, and a lot of people in the group have broken through plateaus by Spiking.
  • Italian Chicken Put chicken (frozen or thawed, whatever) in crockpot. Dump Italian Dressing on top. Cook on high 5 hours or low 8 hours (sometimes longer if frozen, but it depends on how much chicken you put in).
  • I don't cheat, because there is nothing to cheat on, however I do follow the Spike lifestyle, which means 1 day a week I eat double my BMR. Thursday I ate 10 slices of pizza throughout the day - lunch, snacks, and dinner - even a couple slices as a "midnight snack". I also ate some other goodies I had been craving all…
  • Great to hear others cloth diaper as well! =D It was definitely one of the best decision I've made - I can't believe the money we'd have to spend on disposables if we didn't. We use cloth wipes too that I made from the million receiving blankets I got from my baby shower!
  • Wow! You look amazing! I wish a 40lb loss would look like that on me! lol
  • 1. My Polar FT4 - it was only $60 on Amazon, and I really like knowing exactly how long I've worked out without having to guess, and I find the calories burned to be pretty accurate - I like eating back about half my exercise calories, so that's another big reason I love it. 2. My Brooks Adrenaline GTS 12s - they are the…
  • I was actually just wondering to myself if I can keep running while pregnant (I'm not pregnant yet, but we are considering it soon), and everything I've been able to find says it's fine to keep doing the same intensity of a workout that you did pre-pregnancy, unless there are other reasons to stop. It isn't advised to…
  • Oh man...I love my veggies. My favourite vege for adding to everything (and I mean everything) is garlic. I eat probably 3-4 heads of garlic a week. My favourite regular veggie is broccoli. I love it steamed with a little salt, or with cheese. SO good! I go through that huge $8 bag from Walmart in about a week.
  • It's not a calcium thing - when I noticed my teeth starting to suddenly get way sensitive and cavities for the first time (thanks pregnancy/breastfeeding), I started taking calcium supplements and started getting a lot in my diet as well. I usually go way over my calcium goal for the day. I'll try the nail polish thing…
  • If you search Breastfeeding in the foods, it'll come up with a bunch of different options. I picked the one for a toddler with minimal feedings which gives me 200 extra calories. Newborns would be about 500 calories. It also subtracts calcium, fats, etc.
  • I did it back in January. Here is a picture of my results: :embarassed:
  • That's amazing! Great job!
  • The first month I did the 30 Day Shred, then the beginning of Feb I start Ripped in 30, but got sick halfway through the month and was feeling pretty bad for about 3 weeks so didn't exercise much (though I still had my appetite! LOL), however in February, I also started Spiking once a week, and in 2 weeks I dropped 9lbs…
  • Whenever I feel like some. My body can't tell time.
  • I'm 5'1", and I started on 1200 calories. I was losing with no problem, but someone said to not eat below my BMR, so I calculated my BMR (1350) and upped my calories to that. I'm able to eat 1350 calories a day, plus a spike day (2700 calories) each week and I'm still losing 2-3lbs a week. I usually eat most of my exercise…
  • Mmm! I like it plain or on toast! I've never tried it with fruit, but the thought almost makes me feel sick...maybe someday I'll get the guts to try it!
  • I second the suggestion to start tracking your basal body temp. Also track your other fertility signs like cervical mucus, cervical position, use OPKs, etc. Especially if you are irregular, unless you are going at it every day, you could very well be missing your fertility window each cycle. It took us 8 months to get…
  • My daughter was born when I was 20. My husband was 31, and we had been married almost 3 years when she was born. Once I lose about 25 more pounds, we are going to be trying for number 2! I can very easily see us with 5+ children though, and it took us over 16 months to conceive my daughter (there was a miscarriage in that…
  • It's a pretty flexible routine. If the baby and I are staying home, I sleep until she wakes up (anywhere from 5:30-9:00...usually about 7 though). We get up, I change her nighttime diaper, and make her something for breakfast. I turn on my computer, she plays for a while and sometimes lets me get on the computer. If not, I…
  • One of my favourite recipe websites for Gluten Free is the 365 Crockpot website. http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ She has some healthy meals on there, and they are VERY yummy! Just stay away from the Brown Sugar Chicken - it is absolutely to die for, and as the name suggests, very high in calories! LOL
  • I have no idea what kind of pains these are. I don't even know if I'm running correctly. I'm feeling so discouraged. Running was so easy as a kid. Ugh.
  • We live in a pretty rural area. The closest city is Springfield, MO, and it's about 65 miles away. I don't even know what to search for in regards for finding a store that will evaluate me for free. The Starting Block is the one that I know will evaluate me, but charge a lot for it. ETA: Oh, and they say "free analysis" in…
  • Does anyone know if Academy Sports does the gait tests?
